Chapter - 104
As Jacob approached the King, he remembered Althea's lessons and dropped to one knee, his head bowed respectfully. The women accompanying him followed suit, their skirts pooling elegantly around them as they knelt.
King Amarc's booming laughter broke the silence, his voice echoing across the hall. "Rise, Jacob Turner, rise! There's no need for such formalities."
The King stood from his throne, his imposing figure towering over Jacob. As Jacob stood, Amarc strode forward with a warmth that belied his stern reputation, grasping Jacob firmly by the shoulders.
"You, my boy, have done what no knight, no guard, no commander could do—you saved my daughter." His voice grew thick with emotion. "My children are my greatest treasures, and for your bravery, I am forever in your debt."
Jacob inclined his head respectfully. "It was my duty, Your Majesty. No thanks are necessary."
