Stacy's hand was still poised, ready to cast another spell, but something stopped her. The last spell had done nothing to slow the monsters, and frustration simmered in her chest.
But just as she was about to cast another spell, a voice cut through the chaos, steady and commanding. But it wasn't directed to her.
"SLOW DOWN!"
Stacy froze. Eden, his face pale and tense, had spoken, and his voice seemed to pull them both toward something. She turned her head, confused, but Eden was already looking in the same direction.
A white horse was charging toward them at unbelievable speed, its hooves thundering against the ground. It was so majestic, so powerful, that it seemed like it could rival the very storm itself.
The horse's rider was a blur of movement, too quick for her to make out at first. The animal's eyes were wild, glowing in the dark, and it came to a sudden stop in front of Stacy, its breath heavy and misting in the cold air.
