Chapter 9 - Ivan Ramonford— 1

THIRD POV—

A man in his early 20s was standing in front of Elena. His name was Ivan Ramonford, the very man that she was trying to evade. Ivan was around 6' 2" with red hair and olive-green eyes. He was wearing a suit probably for a business deal or maybe to showcase his upper-class status in front of people. As if it was to say that— Don't bother me unless you really have something that you really want from me.

Andrew was Ivan's only family left, his little brother. He was terrified when he found that his little brother got lost along the way. He and his employees were frantically searching for him. After searching him for a long time, he still wasn't able to find him. Just as he was going to call for a search team, he heard his brother's voice. He followed the voice and found him standing at the counter with a young woman. He rushed towards him.

Ivan lifted up his little brother in his arm and hugged him tightly. He asked, "Are you ok, Andrew? Are you hurt somewhere?" Putting him down, he searched all over Andrew's body to check for any form of injuries. Finding him alright, he heaved a sigh of relief.

Andrew replied, "I am alright, big brother. See, Lena, I told you that we'll find him here."

Ivan said, "How did you find me? Did you eavesdrop on my conversation again? Never in my entire life, I thought I will be grateful to that nasty habit of yours. For the first time, I am happy that you always eavesdrop on my conversations."

Andrew laughed and said, "Hehe, I told you. You should always let me listen to your conversations."

"Ok, let's not get ahead of ourselves, shall we?" said Ivan, sarcastically.

Andrew pouted and punched him his stomach. Ivan smirked at him and flicked a finger at his forehead.

Andrew yelled, "Stop agonizing me! You big brute!"

"Are we talking about the height again? You should accept that you are like a dwarf, Andrew. It's better for us. A human should always be realistic," said Ivan with smugness lacing his tone.

"Just shut up! I don't want to talk about it anymore," Andrew turned towards Elena, who was trying to stay away from their conversation, "Lena! Why are you standing there? You told me earlier that you would reprimand my brother. Now's the time. Brother, this Lena and Lena, this is Ivan, my big brute brother. Brother, Lena helped me in finding you. Without her help, I would have never found you. You should thank her brother."

Ivan looked at Elena, who flinched upon seeing him looking at her. "Thank you Ms... Lena. Am I correct? Is Lena your name? Or you have another name and this one's a nickname?"

Elena wanted to flee as soon as Ivan started to talk to her. She cursed her luck. Looking at Ivan triggered all her bad memories. She opened her mouth to say something but not even a single word came out of her mouth.

Sensing something was wrong with her, Ivan took a step towards her. Elena, seeing Ivan coming towards her, took some steps back. The word fear was written all over face. He asked, "Are you alright, Miss?"

ELENA POV—

When I saw him coming towards me, I took some steps back. "Are you alright, Miss?" asked the man who was one of the main tormentors who tormented me in my previous life. There was not even a single difference between the man standing in front of me and the man who tormented me in my previous life.

Why did I have to meet him again in this life? I wanted to avoid meeting him in this fair as much as it was possible? But why lady luck was so unfair to me? The man that I wanted to evade is standing in front of me in his full glory. The status didn't say or notify anything to me. Why? Because of its negligence, Ivan is standing in front of me.

No, it would be foolish just to blame the status. I am equally at fault. My fault is that I believed in Fipi's words and thought everything would be okay if I come here. I was wrong, I shouldn't have neither believed in Fipi's words nor should have come here. Coming to the Marlon fair was a mistake. A very big mistake on my part. The one that I shouldn't ever made. Regret filled my entire being.

Seeing that I didn't reply to his query, Ivan repeated, "Are you alright, Miss? Is something wrong? Why are not replying anything?"

Ivan looked at me with worry in his eyes. Worry? Am I seeing things? No, I am mistaken. The only look he ever gave me was full of disgust and hatred. Trust me, worry was not one of them. Was he acting in front of his little brother? Is it to show that he is a kind human being. One who is merciful and full compassion. To mask his true self behind this façade of his?

Well, I am not falling for this. I remember that incident very clearly. It was as if it happened yesterday.
