As the banshee's clawed hands stretched toward Olivia, panic surged in her chest. Every instinct screamed for her to run.
"Mia!" she shouted, urgency thrumming in her voice. "Now!"
Mia's heart raced, her breaths shallow as she fumbled the vial she had just grabbed. The banshee's wailing grew louder, echoing in their ears like the tolling of a death knell. "I can't—"
"Just throw it!" Olivia urged, her voice slicing through the haze of fear. "Please!"
With fierce determination, Mia steadied her trembling hands, she looked at the banshee's ghastly form. The creature flickered with a sickly light, drawing nearer, its claws glinting in the dim light like knives ready to pierce flesh.
Mia's heart pounded like a drum in her ears. She couldn't let fear paralyze her now. Summoning all her strength, she hurled the vial toward Olivia, her voice a desperate shriek, "Catch!"
Time slowed as the vial sailed through the air, glimmering like a star against the dark backdrop of the office. Olivia's eyes widened, and she reached out instinctively, fingers stretching toward the glinting glass.
Just as she grasped the vial, the banshee lunged, its horrific face twisted in a snarl. "Olivia, behind you!" Mia screamed, panic lacing her voice.
Olivia barely had time to react. With a swift motion, she spun around, clutching the vial like a lifeline. The banshee was upon her, its cold breath washing over her, filling her with dread.
"Got it!" Olivia shouted, the vial of holy water clutched tightly in her hand.
Mia's breath hitched as she watched Olivia face the creature, the moment suspended in time.
"Please work," Olivia whispered to herself, the fear of failure tightening around her like a vise. She uncorked the vial and raised it high. With a swift motion, she flung the shimmering liquid at the banshee.
As the holy water splashed against the creature, green flames erupted, illuminating the office in an eerie glow. The banshee shrieked, a sound that pierced the air as if it were burned by acid. It recoiled, its claws flailing as it struggled against the searing sensation.
Olivia then got close to Mia as the banshee momentum faltered. The office, once orderly looking, became a chaotic battleground, as they fought against this monster.
As the green flames licked at the banshee's form, its wails turned into a cacophony of rage and pain, echoing off the walls like a haunting melody. The air crackled with energy, and Olivia felt a surge of courage. "We have to attack it again!" she said, glancing at Mia.
Mia, eyes wide and frantic, "But it's the last vial of holy water? What if it's not enough?"
Olivia felt her heart sink. And realized that they had only one vial left, and it was still clutched in Mia's hand. "We can't give up!" she urged, fighting against the creeping hopelessness. "Mia, we need to kill it while we still had time or else it will take revenge on us! Please hand it to me!"
But even as she spoke, she could see the fear in Mia's eyes. Her grip tightening around the vial. "What if we miss?"
"We can't think like that!" Olivia replied, her voice steadying, despite the chaos around them. "We need to keep fighting!"
Mia seems to gain a renewed determination. "Just trust me! We can do this together!" Olivia encouraged, her voice steady as she locked eyes with her friend. Mia give the last vial to Olivia.
As Olivia was about to take the last vial from Mia, the banshee surged towards Olivia, desperate to attack the one who made it on fire.
"Look out!" Mia yelled as she saw that the banshee attack was locking on Olivia.
Olivia ducked just in time to dodge the banshee's claws by a hair width.
"Mia!" she shouted. "Distract it!"
Without thinking, Mia grabbed a heavy candlestick from a nearby shelf and swung the candlestick at the banshee. To her shock, it connected, a solid thud reverberating through her arm, as if she had struck something real instead of a spectral entity. But there was no time to process that strange sensation. The banshee staggered back, and Olivia seized the opportunity.
She saw its twisted mouth wide in a grotesque scream. The scream disrupts Olivia's momentum and makes her throw the vial abruptly.
The vial up high and hurled it off the side which greatly missed the banshee, the glass glinting as it flew through the side, shattering against the wall, the holy water spilling uselessly onto the floor.
"Olivia! It didn't hit!" Mia shouted, despair creeping into her voice.
Panic surged within Olivia as she backed away, her heart pounding in her chest.
"We're out of holy water now!" Mia cried, fear lacing her words as they both felt the weight of hopelessness closing in.
But just as the banshee seemed to weaken, its form flickered violently, and it lunged one last time, aiming for Olivia with claws outstretched. "No!" Mia screamed, her voice breaking as she threw the candlestick, connecting with the banshee's shoulder.
The impact sent it reeling, its malevolent gaze fixed on Mia who throwed the candlestick. "Please don't eat me!" Mia shouted, despair creeping into her voice.
But just as they were losing hope, Olivia caught a glimmer of something out of the corner of her eye. A large silver cross hung on the wall near Mia, glinting ominously in the dim light, a striking red jewel set at its center with a sharp tip. "Mia! Over there!" she shouted, pointing at the cross.
"Grab it! While I get its attention" Olivia then threw some stuff on it. Some of the stuff she throws seems to hit if it was hit on the parts where linger's on its body green flames, the banshee let out a screech and its focus shifting back to Olivia.
Seeing that the attention of the monster was on Olivia, Mia dashed toward the cross, her heart racing as she reached for the weapon.
Mia reached the cross, she yanked it off the wall. Its cool metal felt solid in her hands and turned to face the banshee. "What do I do with this?" she shouted, desperation edging her voice.
"Mia! Use it!" Olivia cried, her voice breaking as she was dodging and attacking the banshee at the same time.
The green flames erupting around the banshee seemed to be fading; it looked like it was getting its strength back as it was not in pain right now. They were gonna lose the fight if this keep going like this. The banshee roared ready to lunge at Olivia who was in front of it.
As Mia saw that her friend was about to be skewered by its. With all her strength, Mia lunged forward, the cross raised high. "Get away from her!" she screamed, plunging the sharp tip toward the back of the banshee.
As the cross connected at its back, the red jewel shimmered like a heartbeat. A blinding light filled the room, and the banshee howled in agony, the force of the cross seemed to hurt it more.
The green flames that seemed to fade away roared back to life, swirling around the banshee in a tempest of green fire. Olivia felt a surge of hope as they pressed on, the silver cross shining brightly in Mia's grip.
"Mia! Keep pushing!" she urged, her heart racing as they fought together against this dark entity.
"We can do this!" Mia shouted, her voice ringing with newfound strength.
The banshee let out a final, piercing scream that echoed through the night, shaking the very foundations of the office. Then, with a blinding flash, it disintegrated into a shower of ethereal sparks, leaving behind only silence and the ashes on the ground.
