Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: An Unexpected Awakening

In the fiber technology laboratory, the light was a cold white, precise. Allison Kane stood in front of the control panel, her hands gripping the edge of the equipment tightly, holding her breath in concentration. On the screen, complex data and formulas flashed by at high speed, and countless possibilities raced through her mind. Her goal was clear: to break through the barriers of material regeneration and create unparalleled new materials with fiber technology. This experiment was the dream of her lifetime.

"Are you ready?" The voice of her mentor, Silas, came from behind, low and tinged with unease.

Allison nodded slightly, her eyes never leaving the screen. "Check the data one more time to make sure everything is correct."

Silas walked up beside her, carefully scanning the screen, his brow slightly furrowed. "Everything looks normal, but we both know experiments can be unpredictable. Allison, be cautious."

She took a deep breath, her finger hovering over the start button, a flicker of hesitation crossing her mind. However, the dream lay ahead; there was no turning back.

"Start!" Her voice was decisive.

The moment she pressed the button, the experimental device emitted a deep hum as soft light spread from the core. Streams of energy flowed slowly, like some invisible life form awakening. Allison's heartbeat quickened with the rhythm of the energy waves, every cell in her body tense yet expectant.

"Energy stable," she reported quietly, her gaze fixed on the data steadily climbing on the screen.

Everything was proceeding as planned. Allison relaxed her shoulders slightly, exhaling a sigh of relief. Perhaps this time, she would truly succeed.

"Too smooth," Silas murmured, his brow still not relaxing.

Allison glanced up at him, her unease bubbling to the surface again. Silas's intuition had always been accurate; his concerns about this experiment were not unfounded. She quickly calculated each possible risk in her mind, gently tapping her fingers on the control panel.

Just then, an alarm blared suddenly, sharp and urgent.

"Energy fluctuations exceeded expected range!" Allison's voice tightened as she quickly input commands, trying to regain control of the situation. But no matter how she adjusted it, the data continued to fluctuate wildly; the energy waves were out of control.

"Shut down the device! Quickly!" Silas's voice exploded in her ears.

Instinctively, Allison reached for the emergency shut-off button, yet the brightness did not fade; instead, it grew even more intense. The experimental device let out a deep roar, and energy surged like a torrential storm throughout the laboratory.

"Allison, get back!" Silas abruptly grabbed her arm, pulling her away from the device.

She fell to the ground, everything before her becoming blurry. The blue-white light seemed to tear the entire space apart, the air thick with taut energy. She blinked desperately, trying to see clearly amidst the chaos.

In that dazzling light, she saw it—a tall figure.

"Silas... do you see it?" Allison murmured, her voice almost swallowed by the violent energy sounds.

Silas's face turned pale, his eyes fixed on the blurred figure, shaking his head in disbelief. "Impossible... this can't be..."

The figure flickered in and out of the light, seemingly struggling, as if breaking free from some invisible bonds. Allison's heart raced; her instinct told her that everything happening before her was related to a werewolf.

Then, the energy storm abruptly ceased. The brilliance inside the laboratory vanished, leaving only the smell of burnt air and heavy silence.

Allison struggled to her feet, her chest heaving violently. She looked around; the laboratory had turned into ruins. Equipment lay destroyed, energy dissipated. Only that figure remained, standing still.

Her gaze locked onto the figure, and her pupils constricted—there, in the center of the lab, stood a werewolf, tall and robust, with silver fur, appearing especially out of place in the shattered laboratory.

"How could he..." Silas's voice trembled.

The werewolf made no sound, merely standing there, as if observing them. Allison held her breath, feeling the authority and wisdom radiating from him. He did not resemble the beast she had imagined; rather, he seemed like an ancient being, lost in thoughts she could not comprehend.

"Who are you?" Allison couldn't help but ask, her voice quivering.

The werewolf did not respond, his deep eyes briefly meeting hers, then he suddenly turned, agilely leaping over the debris of the laboratory, disappearing swiftly into the night.

"Wait!" Allison shouted, instinctively taking a step forward, wanting to chase after him.

But it was all too late. The werewolf's figure had already vanished without a trace, leaving behind the shattered laboratory and debris scattered across the floor. Allison stood in place, her breath quickening, her heartbeat echoing in her ears like distant drums. The lights in the lab flickered on and off, casting shadows that danced on the walls, as if telling an unfinished story.

Silas stood beside her, his gaze complicated. "We need to leave here," he whispered, his voice laced with a fear and exhaustion he had never shown before. "The experiment has completely spiraled out of control, and investigators will be coming. We have to leave early."

Allison's eyes continued to follow the direction in which the werewolf had disappeared, her mind filled with questions. "How did he get here? Why was he here?"

"I don't know," Silas shook his head, his tone somber. "But this isn't a coincidence. This experiment... we may have inadvertently touched something we shouldn't have."

Allison bit her lip, quickly recalling everything that had just happened. "You mean... he could be a product of the experiment?"

"Maybe, or maybe not," Silas replied uncertainly. "But we need to calm down and figure this all out properly."

She nodded, her rational mind telling her they had to leave first. But her intuition kept insisting that the werewolf hadn't appeared here by chance. His eyes held some deeper meaning.

The two hurried through the laboratory, walking down the dark corridor. Allison remained silent, her mind a whirlwind of thoughts. She could feel the chaos behind her—the wreckage seemed to silently question her. Ahead was a mystery full of unknowns, waiting for her to unravel.

"What do you plan to do about this?" Allison finally broke the silence, her voice calm but unable to mask the turmoil within.

"For now, we'll keep it under wraps," Silas sighed. "Until we figure out who that werewolf is and why he showed up in the lab."

"Will we be held accountable?" Allison asked flatly.

Silas gave a bitter smile. "Probably. But these are the consequences we must bear."

She nodded gently, her inner voice clear and resolute, urging her to leave this place immediately. Yet her intuition—the one that never played by the rules—whispered in her ear, telling her that the werewolf's appearance was not a mere coincidence. His gaze was profound, as if concealing unknown secrets, and the flicker of light in those eyes seemed to convey some kind of message to her.

"Allison," Silas stopped walking and turned to look at her, his gaze betraying a hint of hesitation. "Do you... feel something?"

She paused for a moment before nodding. "I feel... like we've just opened a door. And he—the werewolf—he's the guardian on the other side."

Silas fell silent, merely nodding thoughtfully. "Maybe you're right."

The night was heavy, cloaking the entire sky, and the distant ruins of the laboratory appeared serene and mysterious in the darkness. Allison stopped and took one last look at the shattered remains. A resolute thought surged within her: no matter the cost, she had to uncover the truth about the werewolf. She knew that this was far from over
