Without further delay, I gestured for Broly to follow me. We needed to move farther away from his father to ensure we wouldn't be disturbed.
Once I judged we were far enough, I got into my fighting stance, my back bent slightly forward, my left arm extended, and my hand open in front of me. "Broly, don't worry about hurting me. Come at me with everything you've got! Let's make this training session beneficial for you!" I said, encouraging him.
I decided to fight in my base form first. I needed to properly evaluate his strength before escalating things.
"Okay!" Broly replied after a moment of thought. It seemed like he was really going to take it seriously.
I smiled nervously. 'Maybe this wasn't such a good idea after all...' I thought.
"Here I come!" I shouted, deciding to stop worrying as I erupted toward him.
Broly quickly raised his arm to block the punch I aimed at his face. 'Rookie mistake!' I thought, smirking. It was just a feint; I twisted my body and kicked him from the side. He was sent flying, though not very far, and immediately surged back toward me.
I kept my composure and prepared for his counterattack. As soon as he was about to hit me, I redirected his punch with a slight movement, avoiding the impact. I went for a quick counterstrike, but Broly grabbed my foot before I could connect and was about to throw me.
"Ahh!" I exclaimed, instantly increasing my energy output to free myself from his grip.
Without hesitation, I formed a kikoha in the palm of my hand and struck Broly in the back with it at close range.
I was about to follow up with a punch to his back, but he quickly countered with an elbow strike. I ducked to dodge it, and he used the opportunity to reposition himself.
"You're really good!" I said, praising him for keeping up with me. He didn't respond, but I could tell he was still in control of himself.
Broly's eyes locked on me with intense focus, and I could feel his power increasing. He charged at me with his aura bursting outward, his speed now noticeably faster.
I braced myself as Broly lunged forward with a fierce punch aimed at my midsection. I twisted my body, narrowly avoiding the blow, and delivered a quick uppercut to his ribs. He grunted in pain but didn't back down, immediately countering with a downward hammer fist. I crossed my arms to block it, but the sheer force of his strike pushed me back several meters, my feet digging into the rocky ground.
"You're stronger than I expected, Broly!" I shouted, a smile tugging at my lips. This fight was starting to get interesting.
Broly's aura erupted again, and he dashed towards me, throwing a wave of green kikoha. I dodged them one by one, noticing Broly using the distraction to close in on me. He threw a wild punch, but I saw through his plan. I jumped over it and almost kneed him in the face. I stopped myself at the last moment, seeing that he was still in a state of half shock.
Broly took advantage of my hesitation, grabbing my leg mid-air. With a roar, he swung me around and launched me towards a nearby rocky outcrop. I twisted my body just in time, managing to land on the rocks in a crouched position, the impact cracking the stone beneath me.
"Haha, you've got a lot of work ahead if you want to beat a great martial artist like me!" I said confidently, dusting off my gi as I stood back up.
"What is a martial artist?" Broly looked at me, his expression filled with curiosity.
I grinned at his question. "A martial artist is someone who dedicates themselves to learning how to fight, not just with power, but with skill, strategy, and discipline," I explained. "It's not just about brute strength. It's about control and precision."
Broly looked down at his hands, clenching his fists as if pondering my words. His strength was raw and untamed, lacking the finesse that came with true martial arts training.
"Enough talking! Let's continue!" I called out, urging him to focus on the fight again.
Broly nodded, his eyes narrowing with determination. He lunged at me once more, this time with a combination of punches that were faster and more controlled. I blocked and parried each one, feeling the raw strength behind every strike. He was improving right before my eyes, adapting to my movements.
I ducked under a high swing, sweeping Broly's legs out from under him. He fell, but before I could follow up, he planted his hand on the ground and used the momentum to flip back onto his feet, his eyes locked on me with fierce concentration.
"Good reflexes !" I said, impressed by how quickly he was learning. I decided to up the ante, charging my energy, my aura flaring around me, and shot towards him with a burst of speed. Broly's eyes widened as I closed the distance in an instant.
I feinted to the right, and Broly took the bait, shifting his guard to that side. I immediately switched directions, delivering a powerful kick to his left that sent him stumbling backward.
Broly regained his footing, his eyes filled with a mix of frustration and determination. He let out a roar, his aura growing even larger, his power skyrocketing. I could feel the ground trembling beneath us as his energy surged.
"Alright, let's see how you handle this!" I said, my own excitement rising. I dashed forward, closing the gap between us. Broly swung at me with a wide, powerful strike, but I ducked under it and delivered a swift elbow to his ribs. He grunted, his aura flaring in response, and retaliated with a backhand strike that I barely managed to avoid.
The intensity of the fight continued to escalate, our blows creating shockwaves that echoed across the desolate landscape. Broly's attacks were getting faster, his instincts sharper with each exchange. I could see him learning, adapting to my moves.
I leaped back, creating some distance between us. My breathing was heavier, but I could see Broly's excitement building, he was enjoying the challenge.
"You've got incredible potential, Broly," I said, giving him a nod of approval. "But remember, power isn't everything. You need control. Let your instincts guide you, but don't let your emotions overwhelm you."
Broly stared at me for a moment, then nodded slowly. He seemed to understand, even if just a little. There was a fire in his eyes, a desire to grow stronger, to learn.
"Alright, let's take a short break," I said, holding up my hand. Broly lowered his fists, his aura dissipating as he calmed down.
I tossed him a capsule filled with fresh water and some more of the food Bulma had prepared. "Here, you've earned it," I said with a grin.
Broly caught the capsule, his expression softening. He clicked the button, and the spread of food and water appeared. He looked at me, and for the first time, a small smile tugged at the corners of his mouth.
"Thank you... Gohan," he said, his voice quiet.
I nodded, sitting down on a nearby rock. This was just the beginning. Broly had so much potential, and I could tell that with time, he would become an incredible ally. But for now, we had to take it one step at a time, building not just his strength, but his understanding of what it meant to be a true martial artist.
But this wasn't just about building Broly into a strong ally or preventing him from becoming an unstoppable enemy. I didn't really care about that in the moment. The truth was, I was also benefiting from this training, immensely. Every punch, every dodge, every counter, it was pushing me to my limits. Training with someone like Broly was the perfect way for me to grow stronger, to refine my own skills. It was a challenge I needed, and I couldn't help but feel the excitement of growing stronger alongside him.
After that, we continued training for a bit longer. I could tell that Broly was pushing himself, trying to keep up with everything I was throwing at him. He was learning, growing stronger with every passing moment.
When we were done for the day, I bid him farewell until tomorrow. "Remember, Broly, don't tell your father about me or our training, alright?" I reminded him, my tone serious.
Broly nodded, his expression sincere. "I understand, Gohan," he said.
With that, I turned away and used Kai Kai to leave. I couldn't help but feel satisfied. Each day, I pushed myself during training with Broly, sticking to my base form. My power had increased significantly, and my combat instincts had sharpened considerably. Fighting against Broly was exhilarating, pushing me beyond my limits every time.
But there was one thing that frustrated me deeply: after only two days of training, Broly had already caught up to my base power. Witnessing his rapid growth firsthand was entirely different from seeing it in the anime. Feeling the raw surge of his power was awe-inspiring, but it was also terrifying. He was a true Saiyan prodigy, a monster of power whose potential seemed limitless.
I couldn't deny the truth: Broly's potential was beyond anything I'd ever seen. His power grew explosively with each battle, his instincts honed as if fighting was in his very nature. Within days, he went from struggling to match me to standing on equal footing. It was both impressive and a little disheartening.
Despite that, I knew this would ultimately make me stronger too. If I could keep up with Broly, if I could match his incredible growth, then my own potential would also reach new heights. After all, I, Gohan, was supposed to have the most potential among the Saiyans, if I could keep pace with the likes of Broly, I knew I could push myself to the next level.
The next day, I returned to Planet Vampa as usual. Broly was already waiting, his eyes focused and intense. There was something different about him, a fire, a determination that hadn't been there before.
"Ready for another round ?" I called out with a smile.
He nodded, his aura already crackling around him. He was eager to test himself, to see how far he could go.
"Alright then, let's begin!" I said, getting into my fighting stance.
Broly wasted no time. He charged at me, his speed and power greater than the previous day. I blocked his punch, feeling the impact reverberate through my arm. The sheer force behind his strike was incredible. Gritting my teeth, I countered with a knee to his midsection, but Broly twisted his body, avoiding the blow and retaliating with a powerful backhand.
I barely managed to duck under his swing, the wind from his strike brushing against my face. 'He's getting faster too,' I thought, impressed. I knew that if I held back, he'd surpass me in no time, so I pushed myself harder, throwing a flurry of punches at him.
Broly blocked some, dodged others, and took a few hits, but he adapted quickly, his movements becoming sharper and more precise. He let out a roar, his aura flaring as he lunged with a powerful uppercut. I sidestepped, landing a quick jab to his ribs, but he didn't flinch. Instead, he grabbed my arm, lifted me, and slammed me to the ground.
"Ugh!" I grunted, feeling the impact shake the ground beneath me. I quickly rolled to my feet, just in time to see Broly charging again, his eyes filled with raw intensity.
I needed to step up my game. Channeling energy into my fist, I dashed towards him. "Take this!" I shouted, aiming a powerful punch at his chest. Broly crossed his arms to block, but the force of the blow pushed him back, his feet digging into the ground.
He looked at me, a spark of excitement in his eyes. "You... are strong, Gohan," he said, genuine respect in his voice.
I smiled, adrenaline pumping through my veins. "You're not too bad yourself. But don't think I'll make it easy for you!"
We exchanged blows, each more powerful than the last. The ground beneath us cracked and shattered, and the air vibrated from the force of our battle. Broly's aura flared, his power spiking as he unleashed a barrage of green ki blasts. I dodged them, my senses heightened, each movement bringing me closer to him.
Closing the distance, I landed a solid kick to his side. Broly grunted but didn't falter, his hand shooting out to grab my leg. Before he could throw me, I twisted, using my momentum to strike his shoulder with my free leg, forcing him to release me.
Landing a few feet away, I took a deep breath, feeling the strain of keeping up with Broly's relentless power. He was a beast—his energy felt limitless, his stamina unyielding.
"Broly, you're incredible," I said, catching my breath. "But remember, it's not just about raw power. You need to control it, harness it."
Broly's aura dimmed slightly as he looked at me, his expression uncertain. "Control?" he asked.
I nodded. "Yeah, control. If you let your power run wild, you'll be strong, sure. But if you learn to control it, to focus it, you'll be unstoppable." I took a deep breath, centering myself as my aura calmed and focused. "It's about balance, power and control."
'For some reason, it feels like I've said control, a lot of times....'
Broly watched, narrowing his eyes as he tried to mimic my stance. His aura flickered, the chaotic energy around him slowly calming. It wasn't perfect, but it was progress.
"That's it, Broly!" I encouraged, a smile spreading across my face. "You've got it. Keep practicing that control, and you'll see the difference."
We resumed our training, focusing more on technique. I demonstrated stances, punches, kicks, and dodges. Broly was a fast learner, his raw potential made it easy for him to pick up on new techniques. Unbeknownst to me, I had started becoming his teacher. It wasn't something I'd planned, I had come to Vampa to benefit from sparring with him. But it wasn't bothersome; if anything, it benefitted me even more. Training Broly pushed me to keep improving.
After hours of intense training, we finally called it a day. Broly was breathing heavily, sweat dripping from his forehead, but there was a satisfied look in his eyes.
"You did well today, Broly," I said, patting his shoulder. I felt like an older brother, although Broly was technically older than my father, which made things a little weird sometimes.
Broly nodded, determination in his eyes. "I... understand, Gohan. I will... keep training."
I smiled, feeling a sense of pride. "Good. We'll pick this up again tomorrow. And remember, don't tell your father."
Broly nodded sincerely, his commitment evident. He was dedicated to getting stronger, to learning, to improving. It was promising.
Training continued like this until one day, during our session, we were interrupted by Broly's father calling for him. It was something that happened quite often, usually because Paragus was in danger or needed Broly's help. But this time, Broly didn't return quickly like usual.
Something didn't feel right. 'This smells like trouble,' I thought, my instincts on high alert. I'd watched enough anime to recognize a red flag when I saw one, and I had a feeling things were about to get messy.
Sure enough, a few minutes later, my suspicions were confirmed. Broly returned, but this time, he wasn't alone. Paragus was with him, looking furious, while Broly seemed guilty, his head bowed.
'Great... just what I needed,' I thought, bracing myself for what was to come.
