'Gustavo!'
Eugene jumped to his feet and pushed open the shed door. Gustavo's eyes darted to him, ready to attack. However, the man relaxed a bit when he saw that it was only Eugene.
"Young master, what are you still doing here?" Gustavo asked, his voice strained and a frown marring his forehead.
"I was just about to..." Eugene started but trailed off when he saw Gustavo raise his left hand to press against his side. "Fuck, you're injured!"
Eugene instantly lost his cool and rushed to Gustavo's side.
"Forget me, we need to get you out of here! It's still not safe!" Gustavo halted Eugene's approach.
"What? Did you not win?" Eugene asked with wide eyes.
"No, I used the secret tunnels to escape. He got the upper hand in our fight. I'm just stalling for time." Gustavo shook his head, his voice laced with disappointment.
"No, you have to come with me. I just need to get some fuel and we can head off!" Eugene turned around and rushed back into the shed to pack up on the fuel he had came here for. It only took him a minute to stuff the last ring full, and he packed a few more canisters in his arms.
The canisters were full of a light blue liquid that shimmered when it was shaken. It was the fuel that Eugene had come to get in the first place.
After grabbing all he could, Eugene turned around and led Gustavo to the carriage. When they got there, he used the key to unlock the door. He quickly climbed in with Gustavo behind him. The man immediately held up his sword when he saw May.
"Who are you? How did you get in here?" Gustavo asked as he pinned May with an intimidating glare.
"I-I..." May was unable to form a response. The timid girl was too frightened to think properly.
"It's okay, she's with me." Eugene instantly got between them before Gustavo would get the chance to cut off her head.
"She... is?" Gustavo paused and had a surprised expression on his face as he watched Eugene quickly hurry around. He could not understand why Eugene would bring someone else with him. Did he really have the time to worry about others at this moment?
Eugene did not spare Gustavo's confusion a moment as he quickly hurried around to get everything ready. They had a limited window of opportunity to get out of here.
He carried a canister of the shimmering blue liquid and slotted it into a compartment of the carriage. Then he turned and walked to the front where there was a seat and a slab that could be opened. The carriage could be driven from the inside, although it was not proper. However, in this case, Eugene did not have much of a choice.
"Let's go!" Eugene said to the two people behind him and pressed the button that started up the vehicle.
This was not an ordinary carriage. It was an advanced construct of technology that ran on magic fuel!
The vehicle was an enclosed carriage that did not need a horse to draw it. It ran completely on the directions of the driver and the magic fuel that Eugene had slotted into a compartment earlier.
Vrooom!
A low thrum ran through the carriage as the automobile came to life. A light bulb lit up the interior of the carriage as it was supplied with energy. Eugene stood at the front of the carriage, as there was no space for him to sit. After all, the automobile was not created to be controlled from the inside.
Eugene picked up a thin wire and and pressed it to the side of his head where it stuck. Like this, he connected his mind to the automobile through a magical process that he lacked the theoretical background to understand.
However, this was not important.
Using his control over the vehicle, Eugene held open the window at the front that gave him a view of what was in front of him. It was small and just about as wide as the length of his torso. It gave him a limited view, but that did not matter. All he needed to see now was what was in front of him.
Bang!
The automobile sped out of the stable, breaking down the gate to the stable easily before speeding off in the direction of the city ahead. The commotion immediately drew the attention of the hired soldiers and assassins that were searching for Eugene and Gustavo.
"There! It's the city lord's automobile!" A man that held an influential position in the city shouted from one of the top floors of the palace. He was one of the people that had sold out the city lord and Eugene, joining hands with the Sand Shamans and hiring the assassins. He wanted Eugene to also be killed so that he could get complete control over the city with no resistance.
Bang!
One of the windows of the palace shattered into pieces as the four star assassin that Gustavo had fought with immediately started chasing them. The man leaped onto one of the rooftops of the buildings that lined the streets, his sword out in his hand as he chased after them.
Gustavo glanced at him through one of the windows of the carriage and frowned. He was considering jumping out of the automobile to face him and allow Eugene to escape.
"Don't you dare!" Eugene guessed what the man was planning on doing and immediately scolded him.
"It he catches us, then we will all be done for." Gustavo sighed.
"He won't catch us!" Eugene argued. He urged the automobile to speed up more as it drove through the streets.
One look ahead of him was enough for Eugene to see how badly what was going on in the palace affected the city. There was fighting everywhere as the soldiers loyal to the late city lord and those hired by the traitors fought it out on the street.
A few free soldiers turned to see the automobile speeding through the streets. A few of them even recognized Eugene's face through the hatch at the front of the vehicle.
"It's the young master! Protect him!" Someone shouted and the soldiers immediately sprung into action. They had also seen the assassins chasing after the automobile, which reinforced their need to protect it.
Dozens of soldiers jumped to the rooftops while those that did not have the superhuman ability began to jump onto horses to chase after the automobile and keep it safe as it sped through the streets.
They would protect the young master at any cost!
