Percy's heart calms as he sees Wren; he gets up, a smile coating his face. He quickly throws his arms around Wren when, in his reach, he can feel the Goosebumps that trace her arms, the warn gas station shirt draped over her fragile body.
Percy walked his bike closely next to Wren as she went to work their conversation light; Percy knew Wren and what not to say. As he limited his words, he looked at her, a bruise under her oversized shirt. Percy remained silent.
The old gas station stood in front of them as he followed her in quickly holding the door he dropped his bike a smile making its way across his face again, wren looked up at him her eyes sorrowful though his warm feeling echoed through her, the sky grew dark outside as the two talked Percy's attempts to make her smile failed suddenly the door swung open, the bells ringing loudly
Percy turned quickly. Ronin's tough figure met him along with a beat-up skateboard hanging at his side. Percy waved him over, a smile on his face. Hey Ronin! Percy says excitingly, ronin walks over, his jeans sitting right above his socks as he reaches for a pack hanging on the wall beside Wren, swiftly then shoves it onto the counter
Grabbing it, Wren holds it up slightly, turning To Ronin
Do you have an ID? She asked nervously; Ronin's eyes met hers as he noticed the dark bags and red eyes. He could tell she had been crying; curiosity filled his mind, though he had a feeling he didn't want to Know.
Uh, Ronin? Percy says, interrupting his thoughts. I think you need an ID, a nervous tone in his voice. Ronin's eyebrows scrunched; he cursed under his breath; he scowled at Wren, his eyes mean; she stumbled back, and she healed, catching herself. Percy's eyes followed her. Are you ok? He asks, his voice comforting her; Wren answers quietly. Percy turns around as the bells ring, the door slamming behind Ronin as he leaves.
Throwing the skateboard down, he hops on, whipping around the corner downtown, the rough ground rumbling his skateboard.
His foot hits the floor as he stops arriving at a dimly lit skatepark he walks in a stinge of nervousness runs through him as the wind blows throws his hair up when he drops curving around the empty swimming pool, throwing himself up his skateboard flips hitting his ankle he
He stumbles to the ground, his elbows whipping the concrete and breathing heavily; Ronin hadn't skateboarded in a while, and he noticed its effects.
Getting up he grunts grabbing his board,
His face grew sweaty as he ran the course continuously, grabbing his board he forcefully pushed off building speed he jumped, the skateboard right under his feet the rail scratching underneath his feet a grin spread on his face, when suddenly he shook losing his balance the skateboard gives way Ronin slamming onto the bar hitting the floor again a course of anger flew through him as he grabbed his board throwing it forcefully adding another chip to the board he walks towards it suddenly interrupted by a voice echoing through the park his eyes guided he sees a couple of kids his age or older, hey kid? I don't think we've met. He says his voice was nice but it came off rather mockingly; Ronin ignores them, grabbing his skateboard.
Suddenly met with the boy's tall figure, his eyes widened nervous inside
"Noah-Noah Carstens he says, his friends following after him in greeting; so where are you from? The boy asks curiously, none of your damn business! Ronin snarls back, pushing past them. He lays his board down, skating down the concrete, and the boys adjust. They play the course through with him.
A cigarette planted in the mouth of one; Ronin's eyes widen, Hey!? The boy offers one, and Ronin quickly takes one. He relieved himself, sitting down to light it; the night continued as Ronin began to talk with the boys. Their voices echoed through the park as they laughed at their poor jokes. Ronin couldn't define the feeling. He wasn't happy, but he acted as if he was. He felt loose.
The boys followed Ronin on the gravel road loud under their feet, Ronin was used to crass language, as he joined in their excitement while it echoed through the empty street, suddenly Noah the supposed leader of their group looked ahead at the silhouette of a girl grew closer the boys hyping up they call her out as they got closer, her head jerked up as the stoped hesitating to go further, ronins eyes set on her as he came closer a rush of adrenaline ran threw him Noah walking ahead he approaches the girl, Ronin quickly catches up, pushing them aside he gets closer his eyes widening as he realizes its wren, the boy pesters wren, trying to turn him off she starts to walk back suddenly the boys beat up hand planted itself on wren, her face scared she flew backward the boy with her, the boy continued to force her, wren struggled as she tries to tell them off her voice timid but frantic, the boy pulls wren his grip tight.
Suddenly his face whips to the side as Ronin threw at him, the boy's grip on Wren released as he stepped towards Ronin, bud what was that for his eyebrows raised before he quickly pushing Ronin gently just then the other boys joined in a fight erupting, Ronin couldn't feel his face though he knew he was being hit giving his all he pushed the boy over, before his shirt jerked his head around meeting the eldest boy his arms where huge when they jerked ronin in blowing at his stomach he scraped the ground everything was chaos, Ronin couldn't tell what was happening he couldn't feel anything his head heavy he struggled to balance suddenly he could sound of sirens in the distance he glanced behind him as they restrained the eldest boy quickly running into a nearby alleyway Noah hesitated to grab Ronin before changing his mind and running in alert to the siren, Ronin pushed himself to his feet failing he stumbled over catching himself with his elbows, a shadow hovered over him, he reaches his hand up gripping the fence he forced himself to his feet.
Suddenly, he felt a soft, plush hand slowly guiding him. The glare of light faded behind the fence as he felt the long grass brushing against his rough legs. He fell back, sitting against his face, scrunching as everything hurt. He leaned his head back against the fence. His hair separating between the chain links winching his teeth grind. "Are you ok?
Said a quiet grief-filled voice, Ronin leaned his head looking at Wren
I'm fine his raspy voice responded with a temper.
He wasn't fine. Ronin had been in dozens of fights, but it was never this bad. He felt as if he could faint any second.
Pushing back Wren leaned over her knees the wind whipping the grass on its side as they sat,
"And you? Ronin asks, looking away; Wren nodded I'm ok. She notices his lack of eye contact. It comforts her in a way.
"You don't look okay
What the fuck did they do to your neck
Ronin says breaking the silence again
Her eyes widened as a disordered flash sank in her head, throwing her eyes open she hugged her shirt over it quickly getting up her legs trembled catching his attention
"I have to go she said her voice was clear but still quiet. He watched as she dashed around the corner regret lay in his eyes before blinking and revealing a determined look as he gripped the fence again pulling himself to his feet his eyes catching his tenderized hand, he walked around the corner the support of the fence stung his hands, his eyes lit up as he saw his skateboard on the side of the street, letting go of the fence he half jogs to it he grabs it and making a run for it.
The dim lights met him at his house. Everything inside him ached; noticing his father's car wasn't in the driveway, he ran inside, hoping he could hide it from his father; his house was dark; turning the light on, bothered by the dark, he peers into the kitchen looking at the clock on the wall.
It was 2:00 am before Ronin had collapsed in his bed.
