Outside the city walls, I gently took Karina's hand and helped her into the floating seat. I tightened the safety belt around her, making sure she was secure. Phantom and the maid followed, settling into their own seats.
"All set? Let's get going," I said as the floating seat slowly began to move.
We glided smoothly down the road, passing horse-drawn carriages. The drivers stared, eyes wide with shock, at the sight of our strange, hovering contraption. I suppose it wasn't every day you saw something so out of place, even in a world of magic.
If anyone asked, I'd just say it was a relic from the ancient magic kingdoms. That usually shut people up.
We left the main road, soaring above the treetops of the forest. It wasn't long before we reached our destination, a scenic spot with a view of a distant lake. I spread out the cushioned mat, while Karina unpacked sandwiches and drinks from the basket.
