Chapter 39 - Chapter 39: His willing to give up his life for her

Sofia's eyes adjusted to the dim light in the office, and she saw Liam slumped over his desk, his head in his hands. He was shaking and muttering to himself, his usual composed demeanor gone.

Sofia's heart went out to him, and she rushed over to his side. "Liam," she said softly, trying to rouse him.

Liam slowly lifted his head, his eyes unfocused and glassy. He looked at Sofia, but it was clear he didn't recognize her.

Sofia's eyes welled up with tears as she saw the state Liam was in. She gently took his hand, trying to comfort him. "Liam, it's me, Sofia. You need to go to the hospital."

Liam's gaze drifted away, and he started to mumble incoherently again. Sofia's grip on his hand tightened, and she looked up at the butler, who was standing in the doorway.

"We need to get him to the hospital now," Sofia said urgently.

"What are you doing here, little devil?" Liam said, his voice weak but menacing. "Go back home."

Sofia glared at this cold demon, even in his state, he still had the strength to question and send her away. "Am not scared of you," Sofia said, "Am not going anywhere.

Liam's eyes narrowed, his gaze piercing despite his weakened state. "You should be scared of me, Sofia," he said, his voice low and menacing. "I'm still the same man who hurt you yesterday".

Sofia stood her ground, her eyes flashing with defiance. "I'm not afraid of you, Liam," she reassuring "I can't hate and feel intimidated by you, no matter how hard you try."

Liam's face twisted into a snarl, he stood up and took a step closer to Sofia. But his legs buckled beneath him, and he stumbled, his eyes widening in surprise.

Sofia rushed forward, catching Liam by the arm and steadying him. "You fool," she muttered. "You're going to kill yourself if you don't take care of that wound."

Liam's eyes flashed with anger, but he didn't pull away from Sofia's grasp. Instead, he leaned against her, his weight heavy on her shoulder.

"We will take you to the hospital immediately," Sofia said, trying to sound calm despite the panic rising inside her.

Liam shook his head, his eyes flashing with determination. "No, I'm not going to the hospital," he said, his voice firm but weak.

Sofia's heart trembled with fear. "What do you mean you don't want to go to the hospital?" she asked, trying to reason with him. "Do you want to kill yourself, Liam?"

A smirk appeared on Liam's handsome but weak face. "Kill myself? Hmm, I'm not afraid of dying, little devil," he said calmly. "It's worth it. You'll be happy and be with who you want. You won't be scared and stay away from me. I won't hurt you again, and you won't continue to feel guilty about what you did to me in the past."

Sofia stood shocked by his words, memories of her past cruelty flooding her mind. Tears flowed like a river as she remembered the pain she'd inflicted on him.

her eyes widened in horror as Liam's words cut through her like a knife. She felt like she'd been punched in the gut, her breath knocked out of her.

Tears streamed down her face as she remembered the cruel words she'd spoken to Liam in the past. She'd been so blinded by her anger and hatred that she'd wished him dead.

words she'd spoken to him in the past echoed in her mind, haunting her. "I wish you were dead and never came to bother my life. I wish you'd die soon or later, but it won't be far, Liam. In fact, I wish you'd die very soon, like right now. I don't want to ever see you, so I can live my life. Stay away from me."

Sofia's voice kept echoing in her head, each word a painful reminder of her cruelty. Tears streamed down her face as she realized the depth of her past mistakes. She'd hurt Liam, deeply and irreparably.

Liam's eyes seemed to bore into her soul, as if he could see the depth of her regret. "You meant every word, didn't you, little devil?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper.

Sofia didn't know how to respond, her eyes locked on his. "I was angry and hurt, Liam. I didn't mean to hurt you so deeply."

Liam's gaze never wavered. "You did hurt me, Sofia. But I'm willing to let go. I'm willing to die, if it means you'll be free from me."

Sofia's heart shattered into a million pieces. She couldn't bear the thought of losing Liam, not now, not when she'd finally realized the depth of her feelings for him and his feelings for her.

"Liam, no, please," Sofia begged, falling to her knees beside him. "I didn't mean those words. I was angry and hurt, but I never wanted you to die."

Liam's eyes locked onto hers, his gaze piercing and intense. "You meant every word, little devil" he said, his voice barely above a whisper. "And I believe you. That's why I'm willing to let go."

Sofia's heart shattered into a million pieces as she realized the true extent of Liam's sacrifice. He was willing to give up his life for her, to free her from the guilt and pain of their past.

"No, Liam, please don't say that," Sofia sobbed, grasping his hand in hers. "I won't let you go. I won't let you die."

But Liam's eyes had already begun to glaze over, his body weakening by the second. Sofia knew she was running out of time.

Sofia's grip on Liam's hand tightened as she felt his life slipping away. She couldn't lose him, not now, not when she'd finally realized how much he meant to her.

"Liam, please, don't leave me," Sofia begged, her voice cracking with desperation. "I need you, Liam. I love you."

Liam's eyes flickered, and for a moment, Sofia thought she saw a glimmer of hope. But it was too late. Liam's body went limp, and his head fell forward, his chest still.

Sofia's world shattered into a million pieces as she realized Liam was gone. She'd lost him, and it was all her fault. The weight of her guilt and grief crushed her, and she collapsed beside Liam's body, her heart shattered into a million pieces.

She screamed in terror, and broken help, "Sofia screamed!" but the butler and assistant stood still without moving an inch.

"What are you doing, still standing there? Come and help me! Let's take him to the hospital!" she said, trying to wake Liam, crying miserably.

"No, don't do this to me, Liam! I love you! I really do! I swear. The night you saved me from those bad guys, I promised to be grateful, cherish you, love you, and bond with you forever. Please wake up!" she said, trying to lift him up.

But he was too heavy. "Why are you so heavy? You're not fat. If you weren't fainting, I'd know you're doing this on purpose," she said, straining to lift him.

As she tried to lift him up and prepared to rush Liam to the hospital, Sofia's eyes met the butler's. "Why didn't you want to help your dieing seek injured master?" she demanded, her voice shaking with anger and grief.

The butler's expression was grim. "I'm sorry, madam. We were under instructions from Mr. Liam to not interfere unless absolutely necessary."
