Chapter 31 - Chapter 31: Stay away from me

Liam's eyes scanned the room frantically, his heart racing with fear. Sofia was sitting on the bed, her eyes wild and unhinged. She was laughing maniacally, her body shaking with each guffaw.

Liam's gaze fell on the shattered mirror on the floor, the broken glass glinting in the dim light. He felt a chill run down his spine as he realized that Sofia must have smashed the mirror in a fit of rage.

"Sofia, stop," Liam said, his voice firm but gentle. "You're going to hurt yourself."

But Sofia just laughed louder, her eyes flashing with a fierce intensity. Liam approached her cautiously, not wanting to trigger another outburst.

As he reached out to touch her, Sofia's laughter stopped abruptly. She looked up at Liam, her eyes blazing with anger and hurt.

"You," she spat, her voice venomous. "You did this to me. You and your mistress."

Liam's expression remained calm, but his eyes flashed with guilt. He knew that he had hurt Sofia deeply, and he didn't know how to make it right.

"Sofia, I—" he began, but Sofia cut him off.

"No," she said, her voice cold. "I don't want to hear it. Just get out. Get out of my sight."

Liam hesitated, unsure of what to do. But Sofia's expression remained unyielding, he knew that he had to try and calm her down.

Sofia looked up at the handsome and cold Liam standing in front of her, a smile appearing on her lips despite the tears streaming down her face. The contrast between her tears and her smile was jarring, and it only added to the sense of sadness and desperation that surrounded her.

"Why are you still standing here, Mr. Liam?" Sofia asked, her voice barely above a whisper. "You don't have to stand here and guard me like a bodyguard. I'm unworthy."

Liam's eyes narrowed, his gaze intense as he looked at Sofia. He could see the pain and hurt in her eyes, and it filled him with a sense of regret and guilt.

"Besides, what you're doing is right," Sofia continued, her voice still soft and whispery. "You're not wrong at all. I did it to you in the past, and you have every right to take your revenge on me. I deserve it."

Liam's face twisted in a mixture of pain and anger as he looked at Sofia. He felt like he was being torn apart by his own emotions, and he didn't know how to process them.

"Shut up," Liam said calmly, his voice low and soothing. "Stop talking nonsense, Sofia. You're not thinking clearly."

As he spoke, Liam stepped closer to Sofia, his movements slow and deliberate.

As Liam stepped closer to Sofia, his eyes scanned the room, taking in the chaos that surrounded them. The once-pristine space was now in disarray, with shattered glass from the broken mirror scattered all over the floor. The air was thick with tension, and the only sound was the soft sobbing that still racked Sofia's body.

Sofia herself looked like a fragile, broken doll. Her eyes were red-rimmed from crying, and her face was streaked with tears. Her hair was disheveled, and her clothes were rumpled, as if she had been tossing and turning on the bed for hours.

Despite the chaos that surrounded her, Sofia's eyes never left Liam's face. She looked up at him with a mixture of sadness and resignation, her eyes seeming to bore into his very soul.

Liam's expression was calm and collected, but his eyes betrayed a deep sense of pain and regret. He looked at Sofia with a mixture of concern and guilt, his eyes taking in the damage that he had caused.

As he stepped closer to Sofia, his movements were slow and deliberate, as if he was afraid of startling her. He reached out a hand and gently brushed a strand of hair out of Sofia's face, his touch sending shivers down her spine.

"hey," Liam said calmly, his voice low and soothing. "Don't say again, Sofia. You're not thinking clearly."

Sofia's eyes flashed with a mixture of anger and hurt, but she said nothing. She simply looked up at Liam, her eyes accusing him of all the pain he had caused her.

Liam's eyes never left Sofia's face as he reached out and gently grasped her wrists, pulling her to her feet. Sofia's eyes widened in alarm as she felt herself being drawn into Liam's chest.

"Don't touch me," Sofia whispered, her voice trembling with emotion. "Please, Liam, don't touch me."

But Liam ignored her pleas, his hands holding her wrists in a firm but gentle grip. He looked down at her, his eyes burning with a mixture of anger and concern.

"You're going to hurt yourself," Liam said, his voice low and rough. "You're going to make yourself sick if you keep this up."

Sofia's eyes flashed with anger, but Liam just held her wrists tighter, his grip like a vice.

"Let me go," Sofia spat, her voice venomous. "You have no right to touch me. You have no right to care about me."

Liam's face twisted in a mixture of pain and anger, but he didn't let go of Sofia's wrists. Instead, he pulled her closer, his eyes burning with a fierce intensity.

"I have every right," Liam growled, his voice low and rough. "You're my wife and property, Sofia. And I'll do whatever it takes to protect you, even if it means protecting you from yourself."

"On contract paper, Sofia corrected, "I'm just your contract wife." Her voice was cold and detached, her eyes flashing with a mixture of anger and hurt. "We are not legally married, Liam. I'm only bound to you by this contract."

Sofia's gaze locked onto Liam's, her expression unyielding. "And from today, I won't interfere with your personal life," she continued, her voice firm. "You can be with whoever you want, and I'll fulfill my duties as your contract wife."

With a sudden movement, Sofia pulled her hand out of Liam's grip, her eyes blazing with a fierce intensity. "Stay away from me, Liam," she spat, her voice venomous.

Liam's eyes seemed to bore into Sofia's soul as he stood there, his face a mask of cold, calculated calm. His mind was a maelstrom of emotions, memories of the past flooding back like a tidal wave.

He thought of the pain Sofia had caused him, the betrayal and the heartache. He thought of the way she had manipulated him, used him for her own gain. And he thought of the way she had discarded him, like a used tissue, without a second thought.

As the memories washed over him, Liam's face grew colder, his eyes glinting with a fierce, icy light. He looked at Sofia, really looked at her. A murmuring smile spread across Liam's face, his eyes glinting with a cold, calculated light. "Little devil," he called out, his voice dripping with malice.

Sofia's eyes widened as she took a step back, her face pale. She knew that look, that tone. It was the same one Liam had used when he was at his most ruthless.
