Chapter 9
FLASH WEDDING
" gmm..gmmm…gmmmm…." Mrs. Vans cleared her throat.
"Okay, you two should not forget that this is still my room; at least show it some respect!" She added jokingly.
Leo and Viola smiled and loosen themselves from the hug, but before that, Mrs. Vans stepped forward and embraced the two of them. "I give you my blessings. Wow! I'm soon going to be called a grandmother and a motherr-in-law"
"Com'on, mum. You know I took after you in everything, so I'm sure maybe you did more than this during your time with dad!" Leo said jokingly.
"No, ours was a clean relationship. We always met in church." She said, and they all laughed.
"Of course, a good teacher always hopes for his student to be better and more advanced than him," Leo teases back in conclusion.
"Welcome to the family, Viola. From this moment, consider yourself part of this family. You can call me'mum' if you want." Mrs. Vans suggested.
"Thank you, ma'am." Viola appreciated her with radiant smiles.
"Please, I repeat again, don't see me as your employer anymore, because I don't see you as one of the employees; rather, I see a daughter in you!" She added.
"Hmmm, so this was what brought your mom to my room this early morning?" Viola asked jokingly as she and Leo vacated her to-be mother-in-law's room.
"Ehe, you were surprised, right?" Leo said calmly.
"Of course! I wondered where she wanted to go this early morning that made her start looking for an outfit."
"You caused me a sleepless night, so what do you expect? Definitely, my ever-supportive mother has to find a way out and restore my happiness!"
The two of them chatted for a while before Leonardo prepared for work.
"Congratulations Viola. I can't believe that a day is coming when I'll put on a ring worth millions!" She told herself as she sat to relax on the sofa in her room, passionately admiring the sparkling ring she wired on her fingers.
"Viola," Mrs. Vans voice echoed again.
"Oh, this woman! I know it's happiness that is causing all this. I'm sure that's how my mother would also be happy if I broke the news of my engagement to her." She thought inwardly and proceeded to open the door.
"Huh, what have you been doing since? I've been waiting for you in my room!" Mrs. Vans exclaimed.
"Oh, I'm sorry, ma'am. I never knew you wanted me to come up!"
"Don't mind me. I know I didn't inform you to come!"
"But nevertheless, you shouldn't be staying indoors. We have to start planning for the wedding so that everything will be in order!"
"Mum, isn't it?"
"Wow! You just called me mom!" Mrs. Vans blushed and hugged Viola tightly.
"Oh, sorry. I'm just overwhelmed!" Mrs. Vans said as she released Viola from her tight embrace.
"Yeah, I know that."
"So, back to our discussion!"
"I was saying, Isn't it too early to start planning for the wedding?" Viola said slowly.
"No, don't say that! The wedding is in the next two weeks! So there's not much time!"
"Hurry and dress up; let's start getting the necessary things." Mrs Vans added.
Viola hurriedly dressed up and set out for the market with her to be mother-in-law.
"You guys never told me that you were going out!" Leonardo said when he got back from work and learned that the two women were not at home.
"Mum, asked that we go to the market and start getting things for the wedding."
"Leo, you didn't tell me that the wedding is coming up so soon."
"I'm sorry, baby. If not even for mom, who wants to make it a big party to invite her friends, we would have finished weddingg before this time by tomorrow."
"What?" Viola exclaimed.
"Yours is even worse!"
"Are you going to marry me without seeing my parents?" She demanded softly.
Dan gazed at her, moved closer, and placed his hands on her shoulders. "I wish you could see through my heart and know how much I love you. I can't afford to lose you to any man out there! That's why I suggested that we get married in the court as soon as possible, but mom kicked against it!" He explained.
Viola breathed heavily, "Leo, but you, I have to let my parents know that I'm engaged first."
"You worry too much, baby. I strongly believe that your parents would give us a fast past once we go there." He said hopefully.
Viola blushed, "I love your confidence." She said it jokingly.
"Yeah, that's why you can't get yourself over me, right? I know that you've always loved me before now!" Leo teased.
Leo's family visited the Gomez's, and without hesitation, Leonard and Viola were blessed by Viola's parents.
The church was filled with witnesses, while Leonardo and Viola stood at the altar to exchange their marriage vows.
"If there's anyone that knows anything why this couple should not be wed in the church, he/she should say it now or forever remain silent!" The pastor declared.
Everywhere was silent. Leo and Viola prayed hard in there for everything to go down well, for that is always the toughest time of curiosity and fear during any wedding.
Viola's mind raced when she noticed a lady seated at the front slowly putting her hands up.
The pastor also noticed that, and quickly, he centered his gaze in her direction. "Do you have anything against pronouncing them as a couple?" He demanded softly but loudly enough for everyone to hear.
With a smile, she stylishly puts down her hands after stretching them forward as though being affected by muscle pull. Knowing fully well that the pastor's question was directed to her, she calmly shrugged and shook her head.
Viola felt at ease when they were pronounced husband and wife!
"Finally, I'll also be a bearer of the name of the richest family in this town. She said to herself and blushed inwardly.
"Leo, did you notice that lady in the church?" Viola asked calmly when they were on bed after the ceremony.
"Hmm, what lady? There were numerous ladies in the church!"
"Yes, I know, but I mean the lady that seems like she had something to say against our union."
"Do you know her somewhere?"
