Chapter 14
DID SHE PUT YOU UP TO THIS?
"Wow! Mr. Smith, nice to see you!" Mrs. Vans exclaimed excitedly as she stretched her hand for a handshake.
"Long time, so you came back to the country and didn't even bother to see us!" Mrs. Vans said jokingly.
"Not at all. I was actually on my way to your house before I met you here," he explained.
Born and brought up by a disciplined family, Viola saw the need for her to step out of the car and say a 'hi' to her mother-in-law's friend.
"Your daughter?" Mr. Smith asked as soon as he saw Viola come out of the car.
"Huh, not at all, Mr. Smith. You know that I only have a son." She answered wittily.
"But she's more of a daughter to me, though." She added.
Alright, Mr. Smith, meet Viola, my amazing daughter-in-law."
And Viola, meet Mr. Smith, our one and only family friend." She replied with a faint smile.
Wow! I never knew that Leonardo was married! I'm so proud of him," Mr. Smith remarked and extended his hands for a shake with Viola.
"Leonardo really had a good eye, I must confess." He added.
Viola, feel free and take him as family. He's just like an uncle to your husband." Mrs. Vans emphasized.
As they were still talking, Mrs. Vans' phone rang, and she excused herself to pick up the call, while Viola and Mr. Smith were still exchanging pleasantries.
"Oh, thank God we met you, Mr. Smith," Mrs. Vans said as soon as she dropped the call.
"Really?" He asked reluctantly.
"Yeah. Please, I'll need your help. Let Viola join you in the car before I'll catch up with you soon."
What the heck! Viola raised her brows; she wanted to talk, but no word was forthcoming from her lips.
How can this woman ask her to join a total stranger for a ride?
"Is everything okay, Mrs. Vans? He asked with a little trace of worry in his tone.
"Yeah, not really, she stammered. I've completely forgotten that I was supposed to have an appointment in the next five minutes with a foreign client, and I was just alerted that the man is in town already." She explained.
"Viola is stressed already. And I don't want to add to her stress. Is that okay by you, Viola?"
"Yes," Viola nodded her head.
But deep down in her heart, she's not happy driving home with a stranger.
Viola joined him in the car reluctantly as her mother-in-law left for her claimed appointment.
"Leonardo has a really good eye, I must confess! He carefully made a choice of the best woman as his wife," Mr. Smith remarked while they drove.
"Oga, this your compliment is getting too much!" Viola said inwardly but still maintained a smile on her face.
She was feeling uneasy in the car, giving the way Mr. Smith was eying her.
Instead of focusing on his sterry, he also attempted to pat her laps stylishly as he complimented her.
"Oh fuck! I should have sat down at the back, or better still get a commercial cap to the house! What am I getting myself into?" Viola thought inwardly, while she also stylishly pulled his hands away anytime he tried touching her.
Her countenance changed; she couldn't condone his shameless attitude anymore.
She put on a long face and stopped to smile at any of his words.
"Ouch! My belly hurts!" Viola screamed, holding a sight of her belly.
"Please, sir, can you speed up a bit? I need to get home and take my medications!" She pleaded in her thin, sweet voice.
Nothing was actually bothering her. She was only finding a means to make Mr. Smith lose focus and let her be.
But she can't outsmart him!
That act was too cheap to get him moved!
He knew immediately that she was only putting up an act and nothing more.
Well, Mr. Smith has also been known secretly as the king of the ladies because he doesn't waste time getting a lady laid.
As if he cares, he pulled by the side of the road and stopped his car.
"What is this man trying to do?" Viola thought as her mind raced with several thoughts.
Before she knew it, his hands were beginning to find a resting place on her Tommy, "How exactly are you feeling? I can help you get over the pains, you know." He whispered into her ears.
"Stop!" Viola yelled and hit his hands away.
"What are you trying to do?" She added with so much trace of annoyance in her tone.
"Com'on, Viola. You're not a kid, and I'm sure you know what I'm talking about," he said casually.
"I don't know anything!" She yelled wittily and tried to open the door and get out, but couldn't.
Mr. Smith had pictured that already, so he pinned the door before he stopped.
"What! You locked the door? I'll scream 'rape' if you don't open this door before the count of three." Viola threatened.
But Mr. Smith was defiant of her threats and only smiled at her words, "You don't have to waste your energy on that darling, because nobody would hear you! This is a lonely road, and before you can see another vehicle passing, it would be in the thirty-forty minutes," he said reluctantly, still maintaining a smile on his face.
To make it worse, his glasses were thin, and he had whined them up already!
Oh, this is the pure definition of a lion's den for viola. What would she do to escape this man's evil schemes?
"We can work something out, you know. I promise to give you three of the things that Leonardo and his mother are giving you if you would agree to my request." He persu
aded.
"Stop this nonsense, please!" Viola yelled.
"Did Mrs. Vans put you up to this?"
