Chapter 58 - create on the spot

Master Yan was furious, his face reddening as he threw the jade and tools onto the workbench. He had been in the jewelry-making business for decades and had never encountered anyone who dared to criticize his craftsmanship so boldly.

"Don't be angry, Master Yan!" Yu Tiansheng quickly stepped in to calm him down, clearly annoyed at Ling Feng's reckless words. "Ling brother, you should apologize to Master Yan."

With a snort, Master Yan replied, "No need! Even if he apologizes now and offers me a fortune, I won't make any jewelry for him!" At this moment, all his creative inspiration had been burned away by anger. Even if Ling Feng begged on his knees, it wouldn't change anything.

"Ling Feng, you really should say you're sorry," Zhang Pengpeng chimed in, looking at him with concern, sensing that he had misspoken.

Ignoring the crowd's murmurs and advice, Ling Feng walked up to the workbench and grabbed both the jade and Master Yan's tools. He then began recalling the techniques he had learned from the Sacred Art of Medicine and Martial Arts.

"What's he doing?" someone murmured.

"Is he really planning to make the jewelry himself?" another wondered.

"Is he joking? That's not something an ordinary person can do!"

As people watched Ling Feng's actions in confusion, Master Yan couldn't help but laugh coldly. But just then, Ling Feng made his move.

With one hand holding the raw jade and the other wielding a carving knife, he began to carve at an unbelievable speed. Jade shards flew off as he worked, tumbling down in various sizes. The crowd gasped, unable to believe their eyes, while the media fixated on Ling Feng, desperate not to miss a moment.

Oblivious to the commotion around him, Ling Feng was completely absorbed in his carving. After recalling the techniques, he grasped the essence of the craft. Though it was his first time working on jewelry, the Sacred Art of Medicine and Martial Arts enhanced his skills far beyond those of any master jeweler at that moment.

"This…" Master Yan's mocking smile froze and gradually transformed into surprise. Before long, Ling Feng had crafted a pair of jade pendants identical to his design. But he didn't stop there; he picked up another piece of premium jade.

"His movements are even faster!" the crowd exclaimed.

Ling Feng's hands danced like butterflies, mesmerizing everyone. Soon, he had created a pair of bracelets, a pair of earrings, and a jade necklace—completing a beautiful set of jewelry.

"Incredible!"

"This is even more refined than machine-made!"

The crowd's eyes lit up with admiration, as if they wanted to rush up to him.

"I need to see this…" Master Yan couldn't contain his curiosity and rushed to the workbench. He picked up the jewelry Ling Feng had crafted and examined it closely.

"Amazing, amazing!" he exclaimed, nodding in approval. "Perfect! I can't find a single flaw! I'm ashamed of my earlier attitude—consider me humbled!"

Master Yan felt a pang of embarrassment thinking back to how he had dismissed Ling Feng. He deeply bowed to him, saying, "I didn't realize you had such incredible skills. Please forgive my earlier rudeness!"

Although he was much older, seeing Ling Feng's talent made him respect him as a true master.

Ling Feng shook his head, "No need for that. I wasn't angry with you. I should be thanking you for letting me use your workbench."

"Not at all! It's an honor to have you use my workbench!" Master Yan beamed.

"What does Master Yan think of this jewelry?" The crowd was eager to know how Ling Feng's work measured up.

"Perfect! It's on par with the legendary 'Jewel of the Stars'!" Master Yan declared, excitement in his voice.

"What?" Several knowledgeable individuals gasped in disbelief.

The crowd's gaze shifted toward Ling Feng, now filled with admiration rather than mere excitement.

"What is the 'Jewel of the Stars'?" some of the younger spectators asked, intrigued.

"It's a stunning masterpiece that debuted over a decade ago, hailed as the most perfect jade carving ever made," someone explained.

Ling Feng smiled faintly at this. The 'Jewel of the Stars' was indeed a creation from over a decade ago by his master. He remembered his master mentioning that there were some aspects of that piece he wasn't entirely satisfied with.

"Mr. Ling, your skills are outstanding! Who did you learn from?" reporters crowded around, cameras aimed at him.

"Sorry, but I can't disclose that," Ling Feng replied, shaking his head.

"You can film my work, but I don't want my face on camera. Please cut any footage of me from earlier."

"Why is that?" a reporter asked.

"Because I prefer to keep a low profile," Ling Feng answered coolly, unwilling to elaborate further.

"Then how much do you plan to sell this jewelry for?" another reporter pressed.

"This set isn't for sale!"

"What about the remaining jade pieces?"

"I'd appreciate it if Mr. Yu could help me sell them," Ling Feng said, handing over the remaining jade to Yu Tiansheng.

Yu Tiansheng was slightly dazed as he took the raw stones. These were worth hundreds of millions! Ling Feng was just giving them to him without a second thought. He had intended to ask Ling Feng how much he wanted to sell them for, but the moment Ling Feng waved him off, saying to just do as he pleased, he took the set of jewelry, greeted Zhang Pengpeng, and hurried away.

Watching Ling Feng leave, Zhang Pengpeng felt a pang of disappointment. At the same time, she found herself increasingly unable to understand the person Ling Feng had become. He seemed like a completely different person now. Not only was he exceptionally skilled in medicine, but his ability in gambling stones was also terrifying. The fact that he could even craft jewelry—surpassing even Master Yan—left her in awe.

How many secrets do you have, Ling Feng? What else am I missing?

Ling Feng's figure gradually faded into the night, leaving a sense of mystery that was increasingly difficult to decipher.

Back at home, Zheng Miaoyi was still buried in her studies.

"Have you eaten? I had Mom save you some food!" she said without lifting her head as Ling Feng walked in.

"Okay, I'll eat in a bit!" Ling Feng replied, quietly stowing away the jewelry. Tomorrow was the medical conference for Zheng Miaoyi, and he didn't want to distract her with it now.

"Get some rest; don't stay up too late. Be careful not to affect your performance tomorrow," he advised, placing his hands on her shoulders and using the Sacred Art of Medicine and Martial Arts to massage her for a while.

"All right, enough of that! You should go eat now!" After a few minutes, Zheng Miaoyi packed up her materials and headed off to wash up.

Ling Feng went to eat, but when he returned, he found Zheng Miaoyi lying on the bed, crying.

"What's wrong?" he asked, startled, rushing over to her.
