Upon receiving orders from the security chief, two guards cautiously approached Ling Feng and Megan.
"So, just because he gave you one order, you're not even going to check the list before trying to kick us out?" Ling Feng asked, a calm smile on his face as the guards walked toward him.
"We don't need to check the list. I said you're not on it, and that's that!" Li Zheng sneered.
"Is that so?" Ling Feng turned to the security chief. "Let me tell you this—if you really listen to him and try to kick us out, you'll regret it."
He paused, smiling slightly. "You'd better think carefully before making a decision."
The security chief frowned and then pointed at one of the guards. "You, go get the list."
Li Zheng scoffed. "Oh, so you're doubting me? Fine!"
Seeing the security chief disobeying him made Li Zheng angry.
"I'm just following the rules," the chief muttered after a moment of silence, clearly nervous. To him, Li Zheng was nothing, but his aunt was a powerful judge with great influence. The last thing he wanted was to offend someone like that.
At the same time, Ling Feng's confidence worried him—what if he made the wrong call and lost his job?
Soon, the guard came back with the list. Before the chief could even glance at it, Li Zheng snatched it away. His eyes widened in disbelief when he saw Ling Feng and Megan's names on the list, side by side.
"How is this possible?!"
The security chief immediately understood the situation and rushed to apologize to Ling Feng, leading his men away.
"Hold on!" Ling Feng called out suddenly.
"Is there anything else?" The security chief was confused.
"I glanced at that list, and it seems like Li Zheng's name isn't on it," Ling Feng said casually, his sharp eyes catching the detail with just a glance.
The chief froze, knowing full well Li Zheng's name wasn't there. But Li Zheng had powerful connections, so what could he do?
"If we're not on the list, you were ready to kick us out. So, what about him? Are you just going to let it slide?" Ling Feng asked calmly.
The security chief hesitated, but he couldn't deny the truth. "Young Master Li, I'm sorry."
Although he wasn't sure about Ling Feng's background, the chief had a bad feeling. Offending someone like Ling Feng might be more dangerous than crossing Li Zheng, especially since he was just following protocol.
With a quick decision, the security chief waved for the guards to escort Li Zheng out.
"What are you doing?!" Li Zheng panicked as the guards approached him.
"Stop!" A furious voice suddenly cut through the air.
Ling Feng turned to see a woman in her forties storming over, her face full of anger.
"Auntie! They're trying to kick me out!" Li Zheng exclaimed, his voice filled with hope.
"You've got some nerve, huh? You dare touch one of mine? Do you still want your job?" The woman, Li Zheng's aunt, glared at the security chief, her expression icy.
The security chief began to panic.
"Auntie, it's that guy's fault!" Li Zheng pointed at Ling Feng, his arrogance returning.
"Who are you?" Li Zheng's aunt turned to Ling Feng, her tone dismissive.
Instead of answering, Ling Feng asked, "According to the rules, those whose names aren't on the list aren't allowed to enter. What mistake did the guards make by enforcing that?"
Li Zheng's aunt sneered, her gaze cold. "And who do you think you are? What gives you the right to question me?"
Li Zheng quickly introduced Ling Feng and Megan. "Auntie, that woman is Megan, the one you removed from the list! I don't know how, but she managed to get back on. And he's her husband, somehow sneaking in here as well."
Li Zheng's aunt looked at the two, clearly surprised, before sneering again. "Well, it seems like you've got some tricks up your sleeves to get your names back on the list. But since I'm in charge of the list, I now declare that you're both off it again."
She turned to the guards. "You three, kick them out. Or you can pack up and leave with them!"
The guards were on the verge of tears but had no choice.
"Li Zheng's aunt sure is throwing her weight around, isn't she?" A mocking voice came from behind.
It was none other than Dr. Li Changchun, an elder physician, walking over with a cold smile.
"Old man Li, stay out of this!" Li Zheng's aunt snapped, glaring at him.
Dr. Li ignored her, smiling as he approached Ling Feng. "These two are honored guests, personally invited by my senior brother. If you kick them out, what do you think my brother will say?"
As he spoke, he greeted Ling Feng warmly, completely ignoring Li Zheng's aunt.
"Don't try to use Qin Ji'an to intimidate me," Li Zheng's aunt retorted, refusing to believe him.
"If you don't believe me, you can call him yourself," Dr. Li continued, still smiling.
Suddenly, Li Zheng's aunt went silent. She took out her phone and stepped aside to make a call. When she returned, her face was pale.
"It was all just a misunderstanding. Let it go," she said, waving her hand to dismiss the guards.
"Wait a minute. I still don't see Li Zheng's name on that list, do you?" Ling Feng asked calmly, pointing at him.
"You're pushing it!" Li Zheng's aunt snapped.
"Oh? So he's not on the list? Well, in that case, he doesn't have the right to be here," Dr. Li added with a grin. "Guards, please escort anyone who's not on the list out."
"You old man—" Li Zheng's aunt was furious, but with Dr. Li's connection to Qin Ji'an, she couldn't fight back.
"Li Zheng, leave for now," she finally said.
"Auntie!" Li Zheng couldn't believe what he was hearing.
"Don't worry. I won't let you lose face for nothing. As long as I'm here, that woman won't win any awards," she said coldly, glaring at Megan.
Reluctantly, Li Zheng left. The guards followed him out, relieved to escape the tense situation.
Dr. Li turned to Ling Feng with a smile and led them into the conference hall, which was already filled with over a hundred medical professionals from all over the country. The event was so significant that many had traveled from afar just to attend. Qin Ji'an's reputation in the medical world had stirred up the entire field when news of this conference broke out.
As they entered, Megan couldn't help but recognize many famous doctors, each one making her gasp in amazement.
