"Where am I?"
A voice questioned in an endless void, even lonelier than the emptiness of space, where at least you can see the light of the stars, but here there is no light.
"Do not fear, Mortal, for you have found the grace of a goddess."
"Who said that?" the voice questioned while looking around, finding nothing.
"Look ahead."
The woman looked as the voice requested, and there she saw a figure with the outline of a woman shining in a purple hue.
"W-What are you!? No, what are you?"
"I already told you, little mortal; I am a goddess, the goddess of reincarnation to be more specific, and as for who I am, that is not relevant."
"Where am I? Why can't I see a body? And what do you want from me?"
"Calm down, little one; you are asking too many questions at once. But to answer them in order: you are in the true void where all souls pass after having been in heaven or hell so that their memories can be erased and they can move to the river of reincarnation. Second, because you are just a soul without special abilities, you wouldn't normally see anything, but I allow you to see. And third, because I have an offer for you."
"What offer?" the mortal said, doubting.
"All souls reincarnate, but without their memories, and I make you an offer: reincarnate in a world of my choosing, retaining all your memories and an appearance that I will give you, and in exchange, I will grant you three wishes."
"W-What world and what appearance?"
"Accept my offer, and I will tell you; refuse and continue with the natural course of things. You choose."
Neither of the two beings spoke for several moments until the mortal asked,
"Why me?"
"Because, yes. I don't have many requirements for this; I just need you to have certain knowledge related to the world to which I will send you and a bit of... imagination to make it more... interesting."
"Is this like a game to you?"
"More than a game, I am watching a program, and reincarnation is equivalent to pressing the play button."
"Y-Yeah... I see."
"Then what is your answer?"
"… I accept."
The woman's soul couldn't see the goddess's face, but she could swear she saw her smile.
"Good... then, the world where you will reincarnate is a Marvel universe that combines various comics, series, and movies into one universe; it is not exactly the same but similar."
"… Well, at least it's not Warhammer 40K..."
"About that... your appearance will be that of Slaanesh or at least something similar."
"… Damn."
"Oh, but don't worry; you won't look like a Lovecraftian horror; you'll look more like this."
The goddess makes a gesture with a finger, and in the soul's mind, an image appears (the image from the book cover).
"At least I'm still a woman."
"You will be a mutant with the ability to absorb negative emotions to strengthen yourself as payment for having this appearance.
Now tell me your wishes, but remember: nothing related to omnipotence, becoming a god, or having more wishes."
"Alright, just give me some time to think."
"Don't worry; you have all the time in the world... in a more literary sense than you can imagine."
Thus, the two entities—mortal and divine—fell silent, one thinking and the other waiting.
Although she could read the mind of the other, why ruin the surprise?
After an indeterminate amount of time, the mortal soul spoke.
"My first wish is this: I want a system that first gives me classes like, I don't know, barbarian, swordsman, wizard, and so on.
Second, I want a template system for all fictional characters that allows me to absorb the best traits or those I want.
For example, if I have the template of the Joker, it won't drive me insane but will give me all his knowledge in chemistry.
And third, I want a gacha system that gives me all the items and abilities from all fiction."
"Good... first, you will only be able to have one class at a time, and you can only advance when your current class reaches level 100.
Additionally, you won't have anything like statistics, but depending on the class, you can strengthen yourself in certain aspects.
Second, similar to the classes, you can only absorb one template at a time, and you will have to raise its percentage to one hundred percent before moving on to another.
Also, depending on the character, it strengthens you in certain aspects.
Third, the gacha system is fine, but you will only get gacha spins after completing missions, and the quality of these will depend on the mission's difficulty.
And fourth, this wish will count as two wishes."
"Damn... fine."
"And what about your third wish?" the goddess asks, although the mortal could swear her smile grew even wider.
"From the system and the templates, I know I will acquire various power systems.
I don't know if this will cause conflicts in the future, but I want to have some sort of superior energy or something that allows me to use the other power systems."
The goddess's smile grew even more.
"Perfect, I will give you the ability to, let's say, 'corrupt' everything you acquire from the system, making it stronger or simply changing its properties with an energy that we will call... Chaos Energy."
After saying all this, both beings fell silent.
"Alright, if you have no more questions, then you will reincarnate at once."
"Wait!" the soul cried out. "I just... will I be evil?"
"… to be frank, concepts like good and evil are relative to me, if not insignificant.
But to answer your question, does eating meat mean you raise livestock?"
"…"
"It seems you have no more questions, so well... good luck on your journey."
That was the last thing the soul heard before falling into unconsciousness.
(If you have any criticism, please feel free to share, and if you have suggestions for classes, templates, objects, or abilities, I would appreciate it if you let me know.)
