Disguising his surprise at having won a Mission of Opportunity, Willow took a careful bite of the stew. The warmth of the soup went down his throat, chasing away the chill he still felt from the day on the road.
As he chewed, he watched Damaris, who sipped his beer contentedly. He decided it was time to ask him about the matter from before.
"Damaris, why did you mention the widow before we even got to the inn?"
Damaris blinked once, then again, and put the mug down on the table with a hint of humor in his eyes. He leaned over, resting his elbows on the table, and gave Willow an almost fatherly smile.
"Well, young man, the only way to forget one woman is to meet another."
