Chapter 55 - Breaking Free

I sat on the couch, my phone clutched in my trembling fingers.

It was ridiculous, really. I'd taken the entrance exams weeks ago.

I'd studied, I'd worked hard, and I'd survived the constant onslaught of my brothers' overbearing scrutiny. And yet, here I was, second-guessing everything.

"Okay... here we go. The moment of truth," I muttered under my breath, tapping the screen with a little too much force, as if trying to force the results to reveal themselves. My heart pounded, an invisible drumbeat in my chest.

Dante, who was lounging in the armchair with a cool smirk plastered on his face, raised an eyebrow. "Relax, sis. You're a genius. I've seen your grades. You'll crush this."

I rolled my eyes. Dante's way of comforting me involved little more than teasing. Not that I was complaining—he was better than nothing. "I wish it were that simple."
