Chapter 29 - I Was Never Alone

As Ethan disappeared into the hallway, a wave of nervousness washed over me, leaving me feeling oddly vulnerable. I waited near the exit, as I looked around, trying to keep myself calm, but every shadow seemed sharper, darker—like they were waiting for me.

Then, I felt it—a sudden, firm grip on my shoulder. My entire body tensed, and before I knew it, I let out a cry. My heart raced, the fear bubbling over as my mind spun with possibilities.

Within seconds, I heard the pounding of footsteps. Ethan burst back into the gym, his face a mix of alarm and determination. He rushed forward, prepared to defend me.

But then, his expression shifted, morphing into a look of disbelief. My wide eyes followed his gaze, and that's when I saw it.

"Theo?" I gasped, the fear in my voice giving way to confusion.
