I sat on the far edge of Ethan's plush couch, my eyes narrowing into thin slits as yet another loud cheer erupted from the other side of the room.
Ethan, Julian, and Dante were in full gaming mode, completely engrossed in their current match.
The screen flashed with explosions, gunfire, and whatever other digital chaos they were competing in, their voices rising in excitement and mock threats as they strategized their way through.
This was supposed to be a date. A quiet, cozy night with Ethan. Alone.
Instead, here I was, again, on the sidelines, a spectator to my own life.
"Come on, man, you've gotta level up!" Dante yelled, nudging Ethan with an infuriating grin. "You can't just rely on beginner's luck every time."
