Chereads / The Crimson Reaper / Chapter 23 - Three Troublemakers

Chapter 23 - Three Troublemakers

Alex couldn't take his eyes off his living room... or what was left of it anyway. If someone were to describe its state, they would say that it looked like a tornado had passed through it and magically only left the bar intact.

Luciel seemed to be passed out, snoring peacefully on the counter with a glass in his hand that still contained some whiskey.

Next to him, there were no chairs at all. Instead, they were lying in pieces all around the room.

His expensive, white leather sofa was now full of claw marks, and his luxury golden glass table? It's gone. Shattered into a million pieces.

Not even the fireplace went without any casualties. It was clear that something had crashed into it since there was a large dent in it.

"What is the meaning of this?!" The sound of Alex's voice managed to get the attention of the two vampires, who were soundly sleeping on the floor next to each other.

"Oh? You brought food…" Kai hiccuped, his head swinging in the air slightly and eyes slowly closing.

"He's not food…" Luciel raised his hand slightly in the air, not even bothering to look at Alex.

Alex's eyes widened as he stayed rooted in place. The three drunk vampires didn't even dare to properly look at him. The owner of the house, whose living room they destroyed, got ignored just like that.

Alex started to chant multiple prayers as he clenched his fists, his body trembling slightly.

He didn't care about his living room getting damaged even further since it already needed a complete renovation. There were even claw marks and holes in the walls as well!

There was a slightly light yellow glow in Alex's eyes, the same light that started to surround his body.

He approached Luciel and grabbed him by the shirt collar, throwing him onto the two vampires.

"You three, on your knees, now!" Alex said through his teeth, pointing with his finger on the floor. "Or I'm throwing you out on the sun."

Luciel clicked his tongue; he was about to retaliate but stopped himself before doing anything that he might regret.

"You two, do as he says." Luciel made a head motion towards Alex.

Luciel helped out the two drunkards to get up, even if he seemed to swing left and right a little.

Once the three kneeled in front of Alex, they lowered their heads. There was something in Alex's gaze that sent shivers down their spine.

The three waited with dread, wondering what kind of punishment would befall them. The fact that Alex was taking this long didn't help them either.

Alex was at a loss for his words. He was gone for a few hours and this was what he came to.

"How much did you guys even drink?" Alex glanced towards the bar, seeing multiple empty alcohol bottles and who knows how many they broke as well. There were too many glass shards on the floor to come from the glass table alone.

"A lot." Kai hiccuped again, making Alex's eyes snap towards him.

Kai couldn't help himself but lower his head even lower towards the floor as heavy pressure took over his body.

"And you, Luciel!" Alex snapped his head violently towards his friend, pointing his finger at him while breathing heavily.

Out of everyone in this room, Alex seemed to be the most dangerous beast.

"How could you let them destroy the whole room!" Alex raised both of his hands in the air before pulling his hair slightly.

"Oh cut us some slack. It was a hard day."

Alex blinked a few times after hearing Luciel's answer. Not a sound could be heard. It was calm before the storm.

"Luciel, you…" There were light yellow flames that erupted below Alex, spreading towards the ceiling as his eye twitched.

"If we hadn't gone through multiple battles together, I would have already hunted down all three of you and sold you to the research institute. Maybe one of you will be able to cover the cost of the sofa!"

While all of this was happening, Melisa stayed quiet. She played with her thumbs and was constantly looking sideways. She had a nervous smile on her face and cold sweat was dripping from her forehead.

In all of this chaos that was currently going on, she was grateful that Alex was not a vampire. Otherwise, he could hear her heart beating so intensely that one would think it would jump out of her chest at any moment now.

Alex continued to scold the two, doing what Luciel was supposed to do before things escalated.

Melisa also got her piece of cake, but it was nowhere near as bad as what the boys had gotten.

For Alex, at least the vampires agreed to help and clean up their mess as much as they could, but the furniture would need replacement and he would need someone to fix the fireplace and the walls.

"You did what!" Alex took a step back, falling on the only chair that was still intact, "Can you please repeat that?"

"I agreed that after my death, I will spread the amount of my money to the charity, Church, Helen, and the rest of my family."

Alex hoped that he could at least cover the cost of repairs and buy new furniture with money that Luciel had saved during his career.

Alex went to pour himself a drink and watched as the three vampires were cleaning up their mess. It was going way faster than he thought it would.

After the three cleaned up the living room, they waited for the night to fall before they left.

"So… Did you bring the goods as I asked you?" Luciel turned around to look at Alex who still had a frown on his face.

"I did." Alex went towards one of his bags and pulled out two capes, "Do you want a black or white one?"

Luciel didn't say anything to his friend since the answer should be quite obvious.

Seeing how Luciel gave him freedom of choice, Alex tossed him a white one since black seemed to be too depressing.

Shrugging with his shoulders, Luciel went to try out the white one, going to prove once more to his friend that white just isn't a color for him.

"Let's go with the black one." Alex didn't hesitate even for a moment and went to hand Luciel a black cape with a hood on it.

Luciel went to switch his white coat with a black one, a smile appearing on his face, "Perfect, and the new ID?"

"Not yet, it will take a little bit of time," Alex answered and decided to catch up with Luciel about what happened today, but strangely enough, Luciel chose to withhold the critical information about Kai and Melisa.

He felt like telling Alex about what he found out about the twins would ruin his relationship with them, and it was not his place to tell anyway.

After demolishing the whole living room, Alex was struggling to find someone to fix this entire mess since it was going to be a challenge to explain how all of this happened.

If someone were to find out that he had been hiding vampires in his own home, it might cost him his head.

The troubles for Alex didn't just stop there, but it got even worse.

****

Luciel had been staying at his place for three weeks now since he had nowhere else to go except the vampire nest.

And all of that would be fine, but vampires need to eat as well, and Luciel already drank everything that Alex had two weeks ago.

Now, for a whole week, whenever the night came, and it was time to sleep, Alex would be afraid for his neck, and with a good reason.

It already happened more than once when he would wake up, feeling a warm breath on his neck where Luciel was close to biting him as he was losing control again.

Alex was getting so desperate in his current situation that he wanted to lock his friend up, but that didn't seem right.

Kicking Luciel out of his house didn't seem like a solution and being human himself, Alex couldn't just encourage his friend to go on a hunt. Both of the friends felt defeated.

"Luciel, I'm home!" Alex entered the house, sounding happy for the first time as he carried what seemed to be the blood packs that he finally managed to find.

"Luciel?" Alex called out his friend once there was no answer and started to search around the house.

Once he walked into the living room, he felt a cold breeze on his skin, making him shiver.

Seeing from where the cold wind was coming from, darkness fell onto Alex's eyes and he rushed towards the window, frantically searching for any traces where Luciel might have gone.

"Please… I don't want to see tomorrow's headline in the newspaper. Famous vampire hunter turned vampire, killed an innocent woman."

Alex quickly put on his jacket and rushed outside, not even locking the doors behind him as he quickly went to search for Luciel. He didn't want his friend to do something he might regret.
