"Alex!"
Hearing his name being called, Alex looked around while trying not to get tripped by the goblins that were on his tail.
"Help!" Alex cried out when one of the goblins jumped on him, holding tightly on his leg before going to gnaw on it.
There was sweat on Alex's forehead, he had been running for some time already and started breathing through his mouth a while ago as he was getting slower, not even a divine art could help him now since his body gave everything it had.
More and more goblins started to jump on him, attaching to his armor, trying to take it off.
The last goblin leaped on Alex's head and finally managed to throw him down on the ground.
"That stinks…" Alex threw the goblin that was chomping on his head with its pointy teeth, getting the saliva all over his head.
The goblins started to bounce on top of him, pulling Alex for his arms and legs, trying to take his shiny white armor with golden details.
Just when all hope was lost, Alex heard the sound of something falling to the ground behind him.
"Run!" One of the goblins shouted while another added when they saw three red eyed figures that arrived on the scene. "The creatures of blood have arrived!"
"Goblins!" Kai and Milena shouted in unison when they saw a horde of tiny green creatures, licking their lips behind Luciel before they started to hunt them down, cutting their Achilles tendons so they could no longer run.
Luciel walked towards Alex while the two were having fun, lifting the last goblin that was trying to take off Alex's armor.
"They are nothing more than beasts." Alex slowly got up and put his hand on Luciel, using him as a support since he could barely stand.
"Who? Goblins?"
"No, the two you brought with you."
Luciel gazed toward Kai and Melisa, observing the horror they brought upon hundreds of goblins who didn't stand a chance against them.
The goblins trembled at the sight of the three vampires, there was this inborn fear inside their bodies that shook them to the core. They didn't even try to fight back as they were only focused on running away.
Observing the scene, Luciel shivered at the thought that one day, he might become like them.
Kai and Melisa did seem decent on the surface level, but deep down, they were still the same ruthless vampires Luciel was familiar with, except that this time, he didn't mind them acting towards the goblins like livestock.
"As long as these aren't humans, I'm fine with it." Luciel waved his hand, he didn't care about the other creatures except one.
Kai and Melisa managed to hunt down at least one third of the goblin horde, managing to keep each one they hunted alive, it was impressive to say the least.
"So… What are you going to do with those?" Luciel approached them, watching how they were gathering the goblins they hunted down, and started to throw them on the pile.
Seeing what they were doing, Luciel cut the Achilles tendon of the goblin he was holding and threw it on one of the piles as well.
"What do you mean? Drink those, of course." Kai threw the last goblin on the pile and whipped his hands, smiling in satisfaction as he watched the fruits of a successful hunt.
"Goblins provide no nutritious value to us," Melisa picked up two goblins from the pile and tossed one towards Lucie and Alex, "Only human blood can satisfy us. We see goblin blood as humans see the cake."
Luciel glanced towards Kai that already started to enjoy his desert, with occasional glances towards Alex, specifically at his neck, but Luciel and Alex were too busy to notice these small details as they both watched at two ugly creatures that they were now holding.
Alex held the goblin in front of Luciel, urging him to take it, but it just made Luciel want to throw up as he felt a weird feeling in his stomach just thinking about sinking his fangs into this dirty little green creature, although, Luciel's thoughts started to change once the wind blew his way and carried the smell of blood.
Without noticing it, Luciel slightly opened his mouth, licking his lips in the same manner Kai and Melisa did before the hunt.
There was this small nagging feeling at the back of his head to try it, but he still refused and pushed the poor goblin that was petrified back at Alex.
While all of this bickering was happening, Melisa groaned in frustration since this was ruining her precious meal.
"Every action you don't take is a missed opportunity." She started stomping towards the two, lifting up her sleeves like she was ready for a fight.
First, she took the goblin from Luciel and made a small cut on its neck before putting it right below Luciel's nose.
Luciel moved his head away, but when he did, Melisa would just put a goblin right under his nose again, waiting for Luciel's instincts to kick in.
It was one of the cruelest things one can do to a vampire.
It was common knowledge that they had strong uncontrollable instincts and this is one of the ways one would make them drink blood, no matter if they want it or not.
This particular action didn't have many uses except forcing the young vampires to feed or if one wanted to humiliate the older ones.
After a struggle that seemed like an eternity for Luciel, he finally took the goblin and dug his fangs into its neck close to the wound Melisa made.
He fell to the ground as he continued to feed with a single tear rolling down his face, knowing that he lost once again and to make things even worse, he liked it and wanted another one.
The refreshing feeling of the blood reminded him of mint, a completely different taste than that of a human.
No wonder the two twins seemed to be so excited about a horde of goblins once they saw them.
It took only a minute for Luciel to be done, drinking every last drop there was, trying to hold himself back, still fighting to stay at least a little bit human and he swore that he's gonna take only as much as he needed, nothing more, nothing less, but maybe… One more can't hurt.
Luciel looked up and saw Melisa doing the same thing to Alex as she did to him, except that Alex had his eyes closed all the time until Melisa finally had enough and tossed the goblin's neck right where the cut was into his mouth.
Seeing what was happening, Luciel snorted before starting to roll on his back, barely able to breathe as he laughed and the same manner was followed by Kai, who couldn't believe his eyes, the only ones that didn't laugh were Alex and Melisa.
"What's so funny?" Melisa didn't understand what was going on and it didn't seem like she was going to hear an answer from the two.
She turned around, hoping that she was going to get an explanation from the person she mistook for a vampire, but instead widened her eyes once she saw that Alex's face started to go green as he held his stomach before throwing up.
When Melisa thought that he was done, Alex threw up a few more times while being forced to listen to his friend laughing while he wasn't feeling well.
"How can you guys drink this…" Alex took a breath, trying not to throw up once again, he already threw up all that he could.
"It tastes like someone wore the same socks for one thousand days and never washed them." Alex leaned forward, feeling his stomach acid rising again.
"What kind of vampire has this kind of reaction to goblin's blood?" Seeing Alex like this had left Melisa with just more questions.
Luciel could hear what Melisa had asked, curious how she could make such a grave mistake, but thinking about it, she didn't even recognize that he was a vampire when they first met. He wanted to ask questions, but couldn't get his words out.
After a long session of laughter, Melisa finally got her answer from Kai: "That's because he's a human, sister!"
"A what?!" Melisa took a step back, taking another good look at Alex who was glaring at him and what Kai said was true, even after being exposed to blood, his human disguise didn't fall off.
She covered her mouth and blushed in embarrassment, even if her sense of smell is almost non-existent, how could she make such a grave mistake.
She was utterly shocked, not knowing what to say as she approached Alex, she had to confirm what Kai had told her with her own eyes.
Seeing how Luciel didn't plan to stop laughing at his suffering any time soon, Alex got annoyed and picked up the goblin that Melisa tried to feed him with.
Just as Melisa did, Alex put the goblin right in front of Luciel's nose and it didn't take him long to get the same reaction from him just as Melisa.
This little trick did seem useful if he ever wanted to get Luciel to shut up and right now, he didn't feel even a tiny bit of regret.
"Who's laughing now?" Alex teased him, but all he earned was a bone-chilling glare from Luciel and a slap to the face from Melisa.
"Never do that again." She hissed at Alex like a feral beast.
Melisa never felt happy about forcing Luciel to drink goblin's blood, but she was also kinda aware of his current situation and this will just make it easier for him in the long run.
But at the same time, seeing someone do this just because of their own need for petty revenge made her blood boil, not to mention, a human dared to do this. "Now let me take a look at you."
Without leaving any room to complain, Melisa grabbed Alex's face, staring into his eyes first before going to lift his lip.
After a quick inspection of Alex's face, she took his hand and brought it close to her nose to smell it.
There was some vampire scent mixed in, probably because he was hanging out with Luciel, but he definitely smelled human.
"Wait, you really didn't recognize that Alex was a human?" Lucian asked after finishing his second goblin, lifting his eyebrows.
Even he, as a newbie vampire, could recognize the smell of a human, but it looks like Luciel won't get any answers today.
Kai and Luciel quickly got up into a fighting stance and Melisa followed. All three could hear something approaching them until the beasts finally revealed themselves, surrounding them before howling at the same time.
