Chapter 13 - chaise in the palace

11th August.

(10:00 pm)

"Yes, more tissue paper, room 303." Winter hung up the phone as he walked towards me.

"I can't believe she would do that to me." Tears were streaming down my face like it was raining down heavily.

"Don't worry dear, I wished we just went through with the original wedding plan and not trying to change it last minute because of your mom" he said as he embraced me in a tight hug.

"We are together, no,w, and that's all that matters; any other obstacle, we would fight together,r," he said as he gave me a kiss on my forehead,d reducing my tension.

"It doesn't even make sense; nothing does. How did she get that set up there within minutes?" I was still perplexed as to the turnout of events.

"I am sure she called for the toast to get everyone's attention, but that doesn't matter anymore." Winter held me even tighter; I could hear his heartbeat.

"And no one did anything; my dad was there, and he did not even say anything." It's sad to know where I truly belong; after all, maybe a woman can't take over the throne, and that's what all this is about.

"Room service" a knock came from the door.

"Let me go get it," Winter said as he released me from his grip.

"World apart as the Queen of Poland announces a new pregnancy"

"Princess Diana's destination wedding ruined as it quickly turns into a gender reveal"

"Fair good princess Diana as she says goodbye to the throne and all of the land"

"What's next for Princess Diana?" The headlines kept popping up on my phone as I scrolled through it; none talked about my wedding without adding the sabotage; I guess this was what she wanted to get all the attention and everything from me, so it was all an act? From everyone? So they were smiling at me and laughing behind my back?

"Come on now," Winter gently pulled on my phone. "We promised not to go online," he said as he squeezed himself back to his former position, which was between me and the headboard of the bed.

"Yes I am sorry," I said as I tossed my phone to the other side of the bed "I can't help it though" I was in pain and I wanted to know what the world had to say about this, I couldn't even post anything on Instagram or any social media application because it would look like a joke to everyone.

"Cheer up; it's our wedding night; let's go take a shower and then some drinks," Winter said as he tried to elevate the mood.

"Okay." I sat up, and I could see my reflection in the mirror facing me; I was still wearing a blue stained wedding dress, my crown crooked, and my face was a blend of several colors as my makeup was beyond recognition at this point.

"Here you go." Winter began to feed me some chicken soup as he pulled up my hair in a ponytail.

"Ahhh." The sharpness of the vodka made my mouth bitter, but maybe that was exactly what I needed; maybe I could drink myself to sleep.

"Come on," Winter grabbed the bottle from my hand. "This is not a good way to spend the night," he said as he placed his lips on mine.

"I think I want to be left alone," I said as I forced a fake smile, I needed some time to clear my mind off things.

"Come on, I understand your frustration, but don't put it out on me." I could feel another stream of tears brewing inside of me; maybe it was pain or hurt, or maybe it was my suppressed emotions finally coming to light.

"I am sorry" he was right, he did nothing wrong.

"Don't be; you have the right to express your emotions. Please do it right," he said as he brought me closer to his chest.

"Let me go get it." Winter got up as we heard a phone vibrating; it was almost midnight at this point. Who could be calling?

What was I expecting from Mom? She never loved me; she was always obsessed with her idea of having a male child and a 'real' heir to the throne. I guess all her wishes finally came true.

I wonder what I expected from a woman who abandoned me with my gran till I was 11 and ready to be coronated, her morals are down in hell and she can play dirty for all I care, I am still in a better place than I would ever be if I had allowed my wedding with Fred go on.

"What took you so long?" Winter came back looking a bit sad. "What's going on?" I was curious as much as I was confused.

"Nothing darling, it's late. Let's get some sleep," he said as he got on the other side of the bed.

"No, who called?" I asked, what's going on?

"It was Idar, and she had a not-so-pleasant news to give." Winter's voice began to shake as he said so, making me even more stressed.

"What happened? What's going on?" I asked calmly, he looked out of it, what's happening?

"Let's get some rest." he grabbed my waist, pulling me closer to him.

"We will be going back to Poland tomorrow morning." What? We just arrived at Tamaje not so long ago; we already planned our honeymoon and everything that could be going on that would make us go back to Poland, especially after what mom did.

"Winter, what's going on?" He held me tightly as he began to place some soft kisses on my back.

"What's?" I could feel the alcohol taking over; I was tired from all the stress of the day. It was normal for my body to give up on me easily.

"Goodnight," Winter whispered into my ear.

12th of August.

(9:00 am)

"Calamity strikes the palace as the grand Queen was hospitalized due to underlying health issues," the newscaster read aloud.

"Gran gran," I jerked out of my bed as I ran to the vanity to get my phone; what's going on?

"5 missed calls from idar"

"12 missed calls from Grace"

"3 missed calls from Layla"

"7 missed calls from Jose" notifications kept buzzing my phone as I switched on my WiFi.

"Darling, are you ready?" Winter walked into the room, all dressed up with a tray in his hands.

"Gran gran," my voice was in total panic as I dialed Idar's number, my entire body shaking.
