Chapter 14 - Two paths forged

"Ah, young master. Your guest is resting in the guest room."

"Yes, yes. I will attend to my guest in due time. Do well to prepare a meal for him, he looks like a lost child at the moment."

"Yes my lord."

With firm footsteps calm in motion, the young master makes haste to meet his guest. A child who supposedly blocked a pure attack from the blessed with his bare hands.

Such a feat was worthy of Draven's curiosity, and the clumsy deal serving as a reward for the duel made him feel good. He had planned to take such a talented person under his wing without the reward of the duel, but with it he had a firm stand in talks.

*Blocking Athena's Aegis is like diving straight to death, yet that child did it. Even without breaking a sweat, he broke off the restraints of the mortal body to do the impossible. *

*Was it a trick or he was simply a talented fellow. I can't seem to get my head around these things. First, the dread mourn attack within the town, and now a gem at my age. *

*If he might turn out to be a lion in the future, its better to nurture him whilst he's a cub till maturity. That would make my standing in political matters stronger with an increase in power. *

*A personal bodyguard is a bright idea. Keeping him around me can lesson my suspicions and bring me answers rather than brainstorming and deducing figures. Why don't I find out more about this, irregular? *

Approaching the door of the guest room, the guards make way for Draven to pass. He opens the door slowly, with a drenching mass of curiosity lingering in his brown eyes.

*I must see his progress myself! *, Draven affirmed his thoughts.

Creak!!

Whoom!!

"A pillow? Why are you throwing a pillow at me??", Draven asked.

In a sharp reflex, Draven had evaded the pillow thrown at him. However the young lord was shocked at the actions of his guest, and wondered what the cause of his sudden uprising could be.

"Why are you throwing a pillow at me? Is this necessary?", the young lord questioned once more.

"Vile twit!! You kidnap me into this grand room to get my virginity taken. How shameless of you!!", Thawne exclaimed in wrapped sheets.

"That doesn't make any sense.", Draven shrugged.

"It makes loads of it!! Cunning bastard!", Thawne glared.

*Who in the world taught a thirteen-year-old to cuss that much? *, Draven pondered as he sighed.

Thawne kept his sights locked on the young lord as he approached, and held a pillow for another annoying attack. Yet in a noble and calm demeanor, Draven paid no heed to his arguments and sat in a chair at the corner.

"Uhum!"

"What?!"

"Did you forget something??"

"What could I forget, you lewd bastard!!"

*Doesn't he get tired of cussing at people every time? Just who teaches kids these days about insults. Ugh the world has already fallen to ruin. *, Draven sighed.

"You added a reward for the victor of the duel. The loser becomes the winners servant. Those were your words, but it seems you dropped it off in your sleep."

"I was just joking haha, did you really take that serious? It was just kids having a get together, nothing else.", Thawne laughed.

"Oh I see. I guess I was wrong to think you were a man of your word. Anyways I believe I might be tempted to bring the case to court, or perhaps tell the people about how you scammed a noble into a brawl."

"Ughh.. why do I feel like I am being blackmailed?"

"Because you are…."

The two lads share an awkward silence, after which Draven smirks and rises to the door. Thawne bites his fingernails in a tense mood, as his thoughts on Shen's reaction about his actions causes him trauma.

"Why don't I make it easier for you then, Thawne Woodlock. I want to employ you as a guard, a personal one I daresay. You would be compensated with Thirty silver coins every month as payment."

Thud!!

"Thirty silver coins!!", Thawne screams in shock.

"Yes?? Is that too small? I can add more if it isn't to your taste.", Draven suggests.

Falling on his knees, Thawne stares at the open ceiling with lost thoughts. He plans the cost of his upkeep, and comes to a realization of how hefty the monthly payment is.

*Ah, with thirty silver coins every month, I can eat enough to make me laze around. Not to forget how good it would be if I had some funds. I was planning to make him my piggy bank, but…*

*Look at this rich stud go!!*, Thawne smiles in satisfaction.

Clearing his mind off the disarrayed thoughts, Wood luck drops off the bed and walks towards the noble. His expression was rather void after the despicable smile, and in tears he stretched his hand for a handshake.

"Why are you crying?"

"Just agree to it.."

"Uhm, okay? Deal then?"

Clasp!!

The duo share a handshake as a sign of their pact, and Thawne's tears burst out in joy. Draven looks at the child awkwardly, yet like the proud stud he was, a lingering feeling of satisfaction hung around his heart.

"Ah, I need to go then. My master has been waiting for me so long, and its already night time right now.", Thawne glares.

"You just want to run away from my sister", Draven looks at him disappointedly.

"Yes!! She's a demon sent from the pits of hell to steal my virginity!!"

"She's eighteen, and you seem twelve or something."

"I am thirteen, brat!"

"Yeah yeah, I mean she's not your type. Eighteen-year-olds are of a different class, I believe so dearly. I can affirm this due to a dark past?"

"Oh… broken hearted brat… That's sad."

"Can you stop cussing? Its getting out of hand.

"Ughh sure sure. But I need to get out of here."

"Just stay for a week and I will get you to him myself. Besides, you have no clothes and with an injured body nonetheless. Just stay by my side for the week and I will get you back."

Thawne shrugged for a moment, but feeling the intense pain in his joints, he understood how dire the situation was. However that day was surely a day of history, bridging two prodigies of myth together.
