As Gu Tian was paying for the beasts and resources he had selected from the Star Commerce Guild, he noticed Shen Ya entering the guild. She was accompanied by several men in black suits, closely guarding her. Shen Ya's expression was calm and composed, her elegance drawing the attention of everyone around her.
[Fate's Daughter detected.]
Wu Shuang, standing near Gu Tian, also glanced at Shen Ya with interest. As his gaze rested on her, the voice in his head echoed again.
[Fate's Daughter detected.]
[Fate's Son detected.]
The notifications startled Wu Shuang, prompting him to turn his attention to the group entering the guild. Among them were Ye Feng, Li Juan, and several students close to Ye Feng. Despite sharing the same class for three years, Gu Tian, Wu Shuang, Shen Ya, and Ye Feng had barely interacted, let alone spoken to one another.
After Gu Tian completed the payment, he tossed the receipt to Wu Shuang without a word. Wu Shuang smiled faintly, pulling out his phone to transfer the money for the phoenix egg. Gu Tian instructed the staff to inform his parents and grandfather that it was time to leave.
Before long, Gu Long, Guang Yue, and Gu Mo emerged from the private lounge. When Gu Long saw Li Juan clinging to Ye Feng's arm, he smiled and waved at her warmly. However, Li Juan responded with a cold expression, turning her face away as if she hadn't noticed him. Her reaction caused Gu Long's smile to fade, replaced by a chilly demeanor.
Gu Mo, observing his son's reaction, sighed and remarked, "I've told you before, haven't I? Why are you still so hung up on the past when it wasn't even your fault?"
Without a word, the three made their way to the car. Once Gu Long, Guang Yue, and Gu Mo had left, Gu Tian wasted no time and followed them. Wu Shuang, lingering behind, glanced at Ye Feng and Li Juan with a grin that carried a hint of excitement.
"See you around, handsome," Wu Shuang called out with a smile. "Oh, and don't forget, you still owe me a meal."
Gu Tian chuckled lightly. "In that case, come find me at the Heavenly Sword University."
Wu Shuang smirked. "Is your standard for choosing universities really that low?"
Gu Tian smiled and replied, "Just kidding. I haven't decided on a university yet. Let's talk about it later. I'm off. Goodbye!"
Wu Shuang waved at Gu Tian as he left, then strode confidently toward Ye Feng without hesitation. Gu Tian, still smiling faintly, walked out of the guild. Shen Ya watched him leave, her gaze carrying an unspoken emotion. She then turned to the staff and spoke.
"Bring me Beast Number 1 that the previous customer left behind."
The staff member hesitated, about to refuse, but upon seeing the card Shen Ya presented, he quickly complied and began preparing the beast she requested.
Meanwhile, inside the car leaving the guild, Gu Long broke the silence with a curious question. "You still haven't told us what exactly your abilities can do."
Gu Tian turned to his father, a small smile on his lips. "Give me three to seven more days. I need to confirm a few things first."
Gu Long chuckled softly as he looked at his son. "You're full of secrets, aren't you, kid?"
Before long, Gu Tian and his family arrived at the City Lord's mansion, their home. After bidding farewell to everyone, Gu Tian immediately headed to his secret laboratory. This was a place known only to him, filled with advanced equipment, rare resources, and an array of sophisticated facilities.
Upon entering, Gu Tian retrieved his Spatial Card. This card had the capability to store items in a space measuring up to 10 square kilometers—large enough to contain all the treasures he had acquired from the Star Commerce Guild. The moment he activated the card, countless materials appeared before him.
Gu Tian placed the White Dragon Egg into a beast incubation chamber he had built himself, surrounding it with high-quality resources for it to absorb. With that done, he began his planned experiment. His goal was to modify the Water of the Divine Well, a substance known to enhance the abilities of beasts, so that it could instead enhance human abilities.
Three days passed. Gu Tian made some progress, though not enough to satisfy him. He decided to take a break. Just then, the sound of cracking drew his attention to the incubation chamber, sparking a flicker of excitement.
The shell of the White Dragon Egg was beginning to crack. Slowly, a small dragon's head emerged, its large, round black eyes sparkling adorably. The sight made Gu Tian smile warmly.
[Name: White Dragon]
[Potential: Supreme Diamond]
[Special Abilities: White Flame (S), Silver Scales (S), Dragon's Breath (S)]
[Power Level: -]
[Evolution Paths: 92 paths]
"Why is it so round?" Gu Tian murmured to himself, amused, as he brought out food for the tiny dragon.
The White Dragon, noticing the food, squirmed in an effort to escape its eggshell. However, its body was still stuck, and it struggled to push away the shell with its short legs. Gu Tian chuckled softly and carefully picked it up.
He fed the dragon patiently. Its favorite foods were white-fleshed fish and white apples, rare and highly expensive delicacies. Gu Tian watched as the little dragon happily devoured the food, steadily forming a bond with him.
Gu Tian's smile softened as he gently stroked the dragon's head. It continued eating, its large eyes shining with delight. Once it had finished, the small dragon curled up in front of him, too full to move. Its belly was noticeably round, its cheeks puffed up to the point of almost covering its eyes, and its neck seemed to have disappeared. Gu Tian couldn't help but laugh softly. He began forming a contract with the White Dragon immediately.
Throughout the process, the tiny dragon offered no resistance. It willingly accepted the contract, its joy evident in the wagging of its small tail. Once the contract was complete, Gu Tian looked at the dragon, now rolling around happily in his arms.
"From now on, your name will be Xiao Bai," Gu Tian said softly.
The newly named Xiao Bai let out a small, cheerful cry, rolling back and forth in excitement. Gu Tian played with it for a while before gently cradling it to lull it to sleep. Xiao Bai quickly calmed down, snuggling into Gu Tian's arms before drifting off.
Once certain that Xiao Bai was sound asleep, Gu Tian placed it into a small bed he had prepared, ensuring the area was soundproofed. After giving its head a gentle pat, he returned to his workstation to continue his experiment.
Four more days passed.
Gu Tian finally completed his experimental solution, though it still required practical testing. He picked up his phone and sent a message to his parents.
"It's going to take me longer than I thought."
His parents replied with messages of concern. Gu Tian smiled faintly and reassured them before sending another message to his grandfather.
"Grandpa, did you get the item? If you did, bring it to the lab I mentioned earlier."
Upon receiving the message, Gu Mo immediately shouldered the item and headed toward Gu Tian's secret lab. Only recently, about one or two days prior, had Gu Mo discovered that Gu Tian had a hidden underground laboratory beneath the City Lord's mansion. Gu Mo was certain even Gu Tian's parents were unaware of its existence.
Arriving at the lab, Gu Mo entered the access codes Gu Tian had provided and stepped inside.
