The woman lowered her head and walked past Ashley. Ashley's eyes were full of curiosity as she glanced at Richard, then turned to look at the woman's thin, retreating figure.
Who could tell her what was going on here?
Richard had just said that the woman should take care of herself and the baby, and that nothing should happen to the child.
Was the child Richard Andrews'?
"What are you doing here?" Richard's tone suggested he had no intention of explaining what had just happened.
"Looks like I shouldn't have come. If mom hadn't asked me to bring you this wine; I wouldn't have witnessed such a dramatic scene."
Ashley started to mutter to herself, wondering if it was Imogene or Mabel Anderson who had sent her with the wine. Was it a setup to make her overhear this?
But Mabel definitely knew that Richard and that woman were here talking and possibly knew about their relationship.
