Chapter 1 - Chapter One (It Came In the Nighttime)

As I was sleeping I felt a weight on my chest and a chill run down my spine.

I slowly opened my eyes to see a tall sillhouette standing at the foot of my bed. My heart dropped.

What the hell is that? Am I seeing things?

Thinking to myself that it must be some sort of jacket on my chair, I turn on the lamp by my bedside. The lightbulb was dim, and as it flickered I still couldn't make out what was across the room. As I debated whether I should get up and investigate or roll back into sleep, the figure moved.

In horror I watched as it began to crawl onto my bed, a hand reaching up my leg into the dim light. In between flickers I saw that the skin looked like it had been melted off, and the remains had been charred beyond belief. Bone was exposed, and the fingers were long, rough and lanky.

I couldn't breathe. I couldn't move. I couldn't do anything. I sat up in fear as the head came into the light, while the hand came closer to my own.

The creature's red face looked up at me, smiling. It's teeth are rotted, but sharp. It's eyes are sunken and it's face is similarly charred. Some of the skin sags down the side by where the ear should be, exposing what looks like a bare skull.

As I continue to stare paralyzed in fear, the hand is on my shoulder, its bony fingers digging into my shoulders. The feeling of skin breaking shocks me out of my paralysis as I begin to scream.

Anyone, please! Somebody help me!!

But no one comes. No ones there. The creature tilts its head and its other hand comes up and grabs me by the neck, holding me against the headboard, unable to run.

No no no no!

As the creature towers above me, it's face comes parallel to my own, it's eyes yellowed at the corners, and the pupils large and black. As the first hand digs down into my should I feel the warm blood run down my arm.

The creature moves the hand from my shoulder and while still restraining me, licks the blood from its hand.

It seems to stare into my soul. Like it's giving me a one time chance to change it's mind before it kills me.

Its hand moves from my neck to my face, pulling mine towards its own. It's smile widens as mere inches are between us.

"PLEASE!! Please, I'll do anything please just don't kill me!"

It's smile widens further as it seems to revel in my desperation.

"You're hungry, right? I- I can find you someone else! I can get you as many as you want!"

It's eyes scan my face as it seems to think. Its hand drops from my face, although I don't dare move. It looks serious, still looking me in my eyes. The sound of blood dripping from my arm onto the floor besides my bed is the only sound that can be heard, besides my wheezing breaths.

It's smile widens from ear to ear.

In some desperate attempt, I smile back at it. Drool falls from the corner of the creatures mouth as it begins to giggle. A quiet, raspy voice rings out among the silence.

"Kekeke, very well. I accept your offer".

I can't be relieved yet, because it could simply be playing with me.

"What, what do you need".

"Mmmmmm, you know what…" it giggles in reply, licking the red off its hand from earlier.

I gulp and nod.

"O-ok, if you let me, I can get some for you. They can be here tonight. But, if I want to do it I have to be sneaky, so I have to wait until then. Can you, is that ok? Can it be tonight?"

An anoyed growl stirs from deep within the humaniod creature.

"I can make up for it! I can! I can get you more than one!" I yell, desperate.

"Mmmmm you really are willing to help me are you?" It hums. "You better keep your promise…or I will eat you twice as slow".

The creature retreated from my bed and stood tall where I had first saw it. I could see as it slipped into the closet.

It was hard to breathe, I still wasn't safe. What if, what if it kills me when I sleep?

I knew I couldn't run, if I did- he would just chase after me and eat me. I had to stay in bed until morning, until I could do what I promised.

And so when I woke up the next morning, that's just what I did…
