Monitoring Room
"Eat?" Robert woke up Rowlet, who was dozing, and handed over a chocolate bar.
Rowlet, just waking up, instinctively leaned in for a peck.
"Eh, don't give it!" Robert snatched the chocolate bar back and proudly popped it into his own mouth.
Rowlet: (▼皿▼#) You wake me up just to taunt me?!
Crazy Fury Swipes incoming!
At that moment, the door to the monitoring room opened, revealing a tall, beautiful girl with long black hair flowing over her shoulders. She walked in and casually confiscated all the remaining chocolate bars on the table.
"You'll get diabetes if you keep eating these," she said with a stern tone.
"Rowlet!!" Rowlet, spotting a savior, quickly flew to the girl's side and began chirping animatedly, condemning Robert for his cruel antics.
"How could you do this to me!" Robert exclaimed indignantly. But when he saw the no-nonsense expression on his eldest daughter Grace's face, he meekly slouched back. "Fine, fine! I won't eat!"
"What about your sister?" Grace asked.
"She went to the mountain city with Trevor," Robert replied.
Hearing the name Trevor, Robert's temper flared. That Trevor brat had only been around for a short time, and now he was trying to charm his way into his precious daughter's life?
Outrageous!
But then Robert glanced at his eldest daughter. "Shaohan has a boyfriend now. What about you? You're the older sister…"
Grace's sharp gaze swept over her father like a cold wind, freezing him in place. Without uttering a word, she exuded a chilling aura that seemed to drop the room's temperature.
"Forget I said anything!" Robert stammered, quickly turning his attention back to the monitoring screens. His eyes narrowed as he stopped on the feed from Monitor No. 16.
"What's going on with Jayden? He's supposed to be supervising the junior breeders' exam. Why is he using his Ludicolo to unleash a Hydro Pump during rainy weather?"
Grace also turned to look. The screen showed Jayden's Ludicolo effortlessly defeating a Tyrunt with a powerful Hydro Pump. But before long, a terrifying figure emerged onto the battlefield: a colossal Tyranitar. The sandstorm it conjured blanketed the camera lens with gritty yellow sand.
Battlefield No. 16
The sandstorm roared as Tyranitar entered the field, its overwhelming presence sending shockwaves across the battlefield.
Jayden's face stiffened in disbelief.
The Desert Tyrant… Tyranitar? How could a junior breeder possess such a formidable Pokémon? And why was this Tyranitar so massive, radiating an aura of dominance?
No… this was no ordinary Tyranitar—it felt like a Totem Pokémon.
"Ludicolo, use Hydro Pump!" Jayden commanded, trying to steady his nerves. Despite the apparent disadvantage, he held onto the hope that his Grass/Water-type Ludicolo could exploit Tyranitar's weaknesses.
But when you're desperately convincing yourself that you won't lose, deep down, you've already lost.
Without the rain to bolster its agility, Ludicolo hesitated before launching a powerful jet of azure water at Tyranitar.
"Hyper Beam," Chris commanded softly.
Boom!
Before Ludicolo's attack could make an impact, a blinding beam of white energy erupted from Tyranitar's maw. The Hyper Beam tore through Ludicolo's Hydro Pump in less than a split second, vaporizing it completely. The destructive force slammed into Ludicolo and hurled it across the battlefield, embedding it into the wall behind Jayden.
The impact left a massive crater in the wall of Battlefield No. 16.
As the white light subsided and the dust began to settle, Ludicolo lay motionless, its body scorched and covered in soot. It slid from the crater and hit the ground with a heavy thud.
The battle was over.
"Lightning Deal! Killed by a sabotage from Tyranitar."
Jayden's shock was palpable as Ludicolo was downed in an instant, crushed by Tyranitar's devastating Hyper Beam.
"Ludicolo loses its ability to fight! Tyranitar wins!" The referee's voice echoed through the battlefield, though his tone betrayed his own amazement.
Just earlier, Chris's Tyrunt had been effortlessly taken out by Jayden's Ludicolo. Now, with poetic justice, Tyranitar annihilated Ludicolo using a similarly overwhelming attack.
The referee's mind began to race, imagining Chris's mindset.
Brain Fill Screen:
At first, Chris probably thought this was a routine battle for a junior breeder exam, so he sent out his weaker Tyrunt. But Jayden crushed him with Ludicolo, forcing Chris to reveal his true strength.
"You want to play hardball? Fine, I'll show you my real power!"
However, the referee's assumptions didn't even scratch the surface of Chris's simmering fury.
Chris's actual thoughts:
This Jayden doesn't know me, but he sure went all out against me. That kind of cruelty isn't random—it reeks of a grudge. I bet this guy is tight with someone who has beef with Trevor. And if that's the case… well, sorry, buddy. You mess with my friend, I'll crush you.
Chris smirked, masking his anger with mockery. "That's it?" he said with a chuckle, his voice dripping with disdain.
Jayden, still reeling from the defeat, snapped out of his shock at those words. Chris's taunt ignited a burning rage in his chest.
"You want to fight seriously, don't you?" Jayden sneered, his lips curling into a defiant grin. His hand reached for another Poké Ball at his waist.
With a flash of silver light, a new Pokémon appeared on the field. Its elegant form gleamed in the sunlight—a Grass-type Pokémon that was both graceful and dangerous.
It had a soft yellow body, brown paws resembling delicate gloves, and vibrant green ears and tail shaped like sharp leaves. Despite its fragile appearance, its blades could cut through solid rock. Its piercing eyes gleamed like withered autumn leaves.
The Pokémon was none other than Leafeon, a Grass-type evolution of Eevee.
Chris raised an eyebrow, impressed by the choice. He couldn't deny that Jayden had a knack for battling with Grass-types.
"Leafeon, use Sunny Day!" Jayden commanded.
Leafeon's cry rang out, filled with power and elegance, unlike Eevee's usual cheerful tones. The sky above suddenly cleared, and the sunlight grew intense, bathing the battlefield in warmth and radiance.
Chris smirked at the sight. Another one trying to outplay me by messing with the weather, huh?
Before long, the golden sunlit battlefield turned dull and gritty. Tyranitar's Sand Stream ability activated, and within seconds, the sky filled with swirling yellow sand. The powerful sandstorm blotted out the sunlight entirely.
Jayden frowned. His strategy was falling apart faster than expected.
Chris analyzed his opponent's plan. So that's it. Leafeon's ability must be Chlorophyll, boosting its speed under Sunny Day—similar to Ludicolo's Rain Dish tactic earlier. He's trying to cancel my Sandstorm, double Leafeon's speed, and outpace Tyranitar to exploit its Grass weakness. Not bad… if it weren't so predictable.
Chris chuckled again, shaking his head. "A fancy plan, but it's still just a plan."
"Tyranitar, Rock Slide!"
With a single command, massive boulders tore through the sandstorm, crashing down toward Leafeon like meteors.
