Chapter 18 - Ch 18: The Doctor's Advice - part 3

'Hmm, the limiter inside this gun is a cause for concern. It is fine if I fire the recommended amount in it. But if I were to exceed that limiter's amount, then this gun could explode.'

Regulating the amount of magic in a weapon was not a concern for Camelia, but she could understand why it would concern many people.

Especially those who had no magic or impulse control. This weapon was suicidal in their hands.

'Well, I would have no been foolish enough to give this to Helios, but who knows about other people and what they think? I am sure this gun has caused one or more incidents by now.'

But just because a weapon was dangerous did not mean it should not be used.

After all, Camelia might have been the most dangerous weapon in her past life. She also had free will on top of it, which made her double trouble for most councilmen.

But they still had to deal with her mostly because they needed her.

Only after the council was sure they had found her replacement did they decide to kill her. But until now, Camelia had no idea what caused them to think that.

"Hey, shall we stop the experiment now if you keep spacing out and not paying attention? I don't have time to waste on you."

The doctor spoke in an irritated voice.

When Camelia glanced back at her, she watched as the doctor sighed, but she kept sneaking at Zayne, hoping to catch his eye.

'The doctor is hopeless. But, as long as she keeps doing her job, no one would care who she chases after, right? The Zayne I know would have loved all the attention.'

Camelia's heart skipped a beat as she remembered her past, but then she shook her head and focused on what was happening.

"I am ready for the test."

She spoke once she was sure of her mood and mind's presence.

The doctor did not reply to her, but the words 'READY' appeared in thin air in front of Camelia.

The countdown ended, and Camelia immediately felt a presence from her right rushing toward her.

Her first instinct was to take out her staff from her inventory and stab the monster. That would be quicker than firing off a spell at this range.

But then she remembered what the doctor had said, and Camelia decided to adapt.

The monster attacked Camelia's feet, so she pushed her, jumped, and shot the beast right in the head before using his legs as a propeller to jump away before another monster could attack her.

Camelia's new body had many muscles in the right places. It felt tailored to flight and swiftness rather than strong and bulky.

Her male body was agile and could do a lot, but the difference in male and female mass was significant enough to be felt at such a time.

But just because Camelia was good at dodging and attacking did not mean she was at an advantage.

Her biggest problem currently was her lack of offense.

Camelia wanted to shoot and be done with these beasts, but her gun did not have enough power when she tried.

It felt irritating, and Camelia's instincts kept telling her to put more and more power into the gun so she could one-shot these opponents.

But her rational side stopped her from making such a stupid move.

'I need some time to break the magic restriction on this weapon. I can modify the formula, but I will need a minute. How do I gain that minute?'

Camelia looked around before she noticed the walls and the ceiling.

None of these monsters were advanced enough to have wings or enough intelligence if she were to get out of their range.

So, Camelia decided to take a risk, sent magic to her feet, and started running up the wall.

Her magic had no restriction, making moments like these easier to achieve on the fly.

Camelia's eyes met Zayne and the doctor's as she scaled the wall before stopping. Now, she had all the time in the world to do what she needed.

"H-Hey, what are you doing? You need to be down there and facing those monsters. How can we judge your level if you keep running away like this?"

The doctor asked, her voice sounding shocked. She had never met a girl like Camelia before, and she did not think she would meet a girl like her again.

"I am getting to that, doc. I just need to prepare before I can take these pieces of these monsters out in one go. One minute is all I will need."

Camelia promised before she quickly began to rework the formulas inside the gun.

Her extensive knowledge of old magic had helped her pick up new formulas easily. Most were just more complex forms of what Camelia had always invented.

It took no time for the gun to be modified, and Camelia was ready to shoot.

"O-Oi! It's dangerous to use that much magic! The gun would explode if you do this. Hey, stop it."

The doctor warned, but Camelia could tell that the gun could handle a lot more than this. She kept filling it with magic until it reached its threshold, and then Camelia fired the bullets.

They all ran toward the monsters and looked up at the bright light. The gun looked like a mini-sun with all the magic pouring out of it.

"Good Night. I hope you have a better next life. Ah, but you all are not alive at all, huh? I guess I am wasting my breath talking to you."

Camelia whispered before the impact of her magic made the room shake.

Her surroundings became static momentarily before they all returned to life and started working again.

The doctor looked at Camelia with a tight-lipped expression, but Camelia did not notice her. Instead, she pushed her legs and flipped back to the ground.
