"Tada~ we are here. This is the division for identification and hunter management. We are here to get you a check-up and ensure you are alright. Since you suddenly lost your memory, I feel so worried. Now, come on! We should meet your designated doctor now."
Zayne dragged Camelia inside without waiting for her reply.
She felt a lot more nervous going inside than she slowed. Doctors and she had never meshed together well, mainly because she had an artificial body.
Even if someone examined her, they wouldn't have been able to get any reading from her body. And that made doctors despise her just as much as she did them.
Some male doctors had also commented on her *uhm* sexual incapabilities and how she was *missing out on* a major feature of life.
Camelia had not understood any of it in her past life, but now that she had gotten a little taste of the pleasure, she could say that the doctors did have a point.
'Nothing would have changed, even if I knew about this pleasure in my past life. The spell that kept me alive also ensured I would never become a human…. saying that. What about my current body? Is it even human? It feels human, but I cannot be sure. Will I be killed if I am not human?'
The thought came suddenly into Camelia's mind, along with the desire to get out of there. Her breathing felt short, and Camelia's face went pale.
Zayne noticed as quickly as Camelia turned red. He was by her side, patting her back as soon as breathing became impossible.
Camelia felt like she was choking, and it felt painful.
"Hey, look at me! Camelia, just focus on me and take a deep breath. This will pass soon. Just focus on me! Yes, just like that. There is no need to feel scared of me or this place. We are not here to harm you."
Zayne spoke softly as he kept touching Camelia's face. His tender voice calmed Camelia down and allowed her to think again.
Camelia felt like she had run a marathon when she regained her strength and thinking ability.
She also became aware of her position in Zayne's lap, how he held her close to his chest and cradled her head against his chest.
It felt nice, and it made Camelia feel secure. She felt nothing could harm her as long as she remained where she was.
But as quickly as the bubble had blown, it popped, and the doctor entered.
Camelia felt her face flush with heat as she considered her position with Zayne, but the older male refused to let go of her.
"Yo, doc! You are finally here. I have been waiting for you to arrive forever. Did you have a fun trip outside? What about your friends? Did you go with them?"
Zayne's words made Camelia cringe. She felt annoyed by how that familiar voice spoke these unfamiliar words.
But the doctor seemed used to it as her eyes twitched in annoyance before she quickly noticed Camelia's presence in the room.
"My vacation was fine. And you know I don't have friends or a significant other…who is that in your arms? Your new victim? How many times have I told you not to pick up garbage-"
The air in the room dropped when the doctor spoke. She was quick to notice it and stopped mid-sentence.
"I would appreciate it if you wouldn't say anything bad about Camelia. You see, I don't take kindly to people insulting my fiancé. I won't forgive anyone who speaks ill of Camelia, no matter who they are.
That includes you as well, doctor."
Zayne's eyes looked angry as he looked at the doctor before him.
For the first time, Camelia felt sure that someone would die because of Zayne, and she clutched his hand to prevent that from happening.
The doctor looked taken aback by what had happened, but she quickly gathered herself and decided to straighten her back. She looked at Camelia with a somewhat sorry expression.
"Ah, I made a mistake. I apologize for not knowing that this person was special to you. I promise nothing like this will happen again. Now, please sit and let me look at your…fiancé."
The way the doctor pronounced the word "fiancé" felt different. Camelia felt a shiver go down her spine as soon as she heard the doctor speaking, and all her instincts told her to pull her hand back when the doctor reached for it.
"It'll be fine. I am here with you. If you feel confined, then signal to me. I will take care of this doctor for you."
Zayne whispered in Camelia's ears, and she suddenly felt reassured.
Camelia felt certain that Zayne was on her side, and he would do anything to ensure that Camelia remained safe.
"Alright! I don't like doctors, but I will trust you this time. But if anything happens, you will die by my hand."
Camelia warned before she extended her hand toward the doctor.
The doctor grabbed her hand before she let out a skill. The magic that warped around Camelia felt cold and lifeless. It was sucking her energy, and she felt a shiver go down her spine.
Her first instinct was to pull back and retaliate against this attack, but she chose to remain calm. The more she showed how upset she was, the more the doctor would feel like she had an advantage.
However, since Camelia was not used to energy manipulation in this body, she felt like she was losing energy faster and faster. To compensate, she had to absorb more power from the surroundings.
It caused the doctor to gasp in pain as she reached her limit, but Camelia felt like she could not stop. She was not full yet, and even if it hurt, she needed to keep taking more energy and refill the supplies and also-
'Fuck! This feels bad. I feel like I am about to puke because I am too full.'
