The first thing I noticed as I slowly came to was the pain. My entire body screamed with every breath I took. Even something so simple as raising my chest up and down stretched muscles that didn't want to be stretched.
The second thing I noticed was the wet earth under me with hard metal bars digging into my ribs and side.
The third thing I noticed was that I wasn't alone.
"Shh," whispered the woman as she tightened her hold on my hand. "I can heal you, but you can't make a sound, okay?"
Not bothering to open my eyes, I forced my body to relax. The woman wasn't harming me, so there was no need to fight her hold.
In fact, more than not harming me, I could feel the warmth of something entering my body where she was touching me. If I concentrated, I could have sworn that I saw a bright green light putting me back together from the inside out.
