"You're right," agreed Luca, tearing his eyes away from the younger woman. "Everyone is just trying to survive. But then I learned something very important. What to hear it?"
The woman's eyes narrowed as if she was trying to see through him to figure out what he was going to say next. The younger woman simply continued to stare at him as if watching a show.
"I learned that only the strong survive; the weak are nothing more than fuel for the fire. So please, don't cry or scream or pout because what we did is not fair to you. Life isn't fair. Get over it and move on."
Picking the woman by her arm, he lifted her up so that they were at eye level. Taking a deep breath in, Luca literally sucked the air out of her lungs as she fought to take her next breath. Slowly, ever so slowly, her face started to change color as the lack of oxygen caused her lungs to burn.
