In their room Kris found himself in a rather strange situation, there was only one bed and instead of arguing, Kris just lay down on it and decided to sleep, ofcourse Faye and Eskira were beside him on either side, which made the situation even more awkward for Kris. He lay on his back, staring at the ceiling, trying to ignore the fact that he had two girls pressed up against him. Faye was curled up beside him, already half asleep, her small hand gripping his shirt. Eskira, on the other hand, kept shifting restlessly, her wings occasionally brushing against him.
"Master, are you comfortable?" Eskira asked, her voice teasing, as she moved a little closer.
Kris sighed, trying to keep his tone neutral. "I was… until you started moving around. Can you stay still for five minutes, Eskira?"
Eskira giggled softly. "But Master, I can't help it! This bed is small, and you're so warm." Her tail flicked lightly against his leg, making him even more aware of how close she was.
Kris closed his eyes, willing himself to relax. "Just try to sleep, both of you. Tomorrow's going to be a long day."
Faye murmured something in her sleep, snuggling closer to him. Kris felt a pang of guilt wash over him again. Despite the teasing and the strange situation he found himself in, he couldn't forget the responsibility he felt toward Faye. He was the one who had turned her into a loli, and he had to protect her, no matter what.
After staring at the ceiling for some time, he closed his eyes and finally fell asleep.
The next day Kris awoke to find himself in a very awkward position, he was sleeping on the floor while the two loli's where hugging each other on the bed while sleeping.
He stood up from the floor and rubbed his neck, sleeping on the floor was a tad bit uncomfortable, Kris didn't have any plans on how he was going to live in this current life but it wouldn't be bad if he took it easy instead, maybe forget about some things.
He heard the sound of shifting on the bed and saw that Eskira was sitting while rubbing her eyes, her pink dragonic pupils shined in the light of the morning sky.
Eskira blinked a few times, her drowsiness slowly fading as she looked around the room. Her gaze landed on Kris, who was standing by the window, stretching out the stiffness in his back. A mischievous smirk tugged at her lips.
"Good morning, Master," she said in a teasing tone, her voice still a little husky from sleep. "Looks like you enjoyed the floor more than the bed last night."
Kris rolled his eyes, rubbing his neck again. "You and Faye made sure of that."
Eskira let out a light laugh, her wings fluttering slightly as she stretched. "Well, you could have woken us up and claimed your spot, but I suppose you're too polite for that."
"Or too tired to deal with it," Kris muttered under his breath. He glanced over at Faye, who was still fast asleep, curled up tightly in the blankets. Despite the chaotic night, her small figure looked peaceful in the morning light, a soft smile on her face as she slept.
Eskira slid out of the bed and stretched her wings fully, shaking off the last bits of sleep. She walked over to Kris, her steps graceful despite the early hour. "So, what's the plan today?"
"We look for a job, this place doesn't seem bad to settle in" Kris said with a nod and Eskira pouted for a moment then sighed.
She looked up at Kris. "Master~, you're naive but i understand your still young so we will follow your lead, but be warned you may someday blame yourself for things you didn't know you influenced"
Kris felt the weight in her voice but decided to brush past that and continued staring out the window, he was thoughtful.
'I already miss mom and dad..' In truth Kris did not find being in another world fun, even if he was going to be transported, if he knew he would have told his parents instead, he was not mentally strong infact he would have cried his eyes out but that won't change anything at all.
Faye who was peacefully sleeping gently opened her eyes and then gently got up from the bed, she could sense the gloomy feeling coming from Kris, she tilted her head and then went towards him, Faye gently tugged on Kris's sleeve, her wide eyes filled with concern. "Master are you feeling alright?"
Kris froze then sighed the next moment, he turned around and placed a hand on Faye's soft and white hair, her ears worm between his hands. "Yeah i am, just thinking about some things, let's go eat ok"
Kris gave Faye a soft smile, patting her head one last time before letting his hand fall to his side. He glanced over at Eskira, who was now fully awake and watching the interaction with an amused expression.
Then they went downstairs, their morning food wasn't all that bad it was bread and a strange tea that Kris had never tasted before, Aster they were done they gave the inkeeper the key to the room and then went outside.
Now Kris decided to do the one thing he wanted to do today, find a job.
After going around and asking the local residents of the town Kris came up with a conclusion.
"So no Adventurers guild exists in this world nor any of those, but there are missions given by knights to anyone who want to get a small reward" The Knights of Belhamis, one of the Seven major Knight factions in the Vicreain Kingdom, they are directly under the king but respectively protect their home of origin.
Among the knights there are three who are in charge of the Knights of Belhamis but their names are unknown even to the higher ranking members of the knights.
The mission system was called the "The Great Hierarchy"
it was made for people who want to go on adventures or wars but don't want to be tied down to ideals of a Kingdom or in Kris's words it was a Mercenary system, The more dangerous missions you do successfully, the more fame and riches you can get.
So Kris would have to go to the Belhamis Knight center in order to get a mission, Kris looked at Eskira and Faye, who were both walking beside him, taking in the sights of the town. Eskira seemed intrigued, her dragonic eyes gleaming with curiosity as she observed the people and the structure of the buildings. Faye, on the other hand, stayed close to Kris, her small frame occasionally brushing against his arm. Despite her quiet demeanor, there was a calm determination in her step.
They made their way through the bustling streets, asking for directions to the Belhamis Knight Center, where the missions were posted. The people they encountered were friendly enough, though some gave Eskira and her wings a second glance. Kris could feel the stares but tried to ignore them, focusing on the task ahead.
After a while, they arrived at a large stone building near the center of town. The Belhamis Knight Center had an imposing presence, its tall arches and intricate carvings indicating the power and prestige of the knights who operated from within. Two heavily armored knights stood at the entrance, their watchful gazes following Kris and the girls as they approached.
Kris hesitated for a moment, taking a deep breath before walking forward. He was no knight, nor did he have the experience or skills of one, but the mission system seemed like the best way to survive and make a living in this new world. He pushed open the heavy doors and stepped inside.
The interior of the Knight Center was spacious and bustling with activity. Men and women, both armored and unarmored, moved about the hall, some speaking to knights in charge of the mission board, others discussing strategies in hushed tones. The air was thick with a sense of duty and purpose.
Kris, Faye, and Eskira made their way toward the large wooden board at the far end of the hall. It was covered in various mission scrolls, each detailing a different task—ranging from escorting merchants through dangerous territories to exterminating local monster threats. The rewards varied, but the more difficult missions promised substantial pay.
Eskira leaned closer to read one of the postings, her wings twitching in excitement. "This looks interesting, Master, we can clean up an abandoned mansion somewhere in the town and we can own it as a reward, the mission only stated to retrieve the sword that is left in its basement"
Kris squinted at the mission scroll Eskira pointed out. The idea of owning a mansion sounded appealing—especially since they'd been staying in cramped inns. But the mention of retrieving a sword from the basement sent a red flag in his mind. "Sounds too easy," he muttered.
Eskira, always keen on adventure, grinned. "What's the worst that could happen, Master? Besides, we'd finally have a place of our own."
Faye tugged gently at Kris's sleeve, her wide eyes reflecting both curiosity and worry. "Master… is it safe? I don't want anything to happen to you."
Kris smiled down at her, ruffling her hair reassuringly. "Don't worry, Faye. We'll be fine. We're just going to check it out and see what this 'abandoned mansion' is all about. If things get too dangerous, we'll leave."
He took the mission scroll from the board and brought it to the desk where a grizzled knight stood, looking them over with sharp, assessing eyes. "You're taking the mansion mission, eh? Not many dare to venture there. Some say it's cursed," the knight said gruffly, his voice full of warning. "The last group who went in didn't come out."
Kris swallowed nervously, but Eskira's excitement didn't wane. If anything, the knight's words seemed to fuel her enthusiasm. "Even better," she whispered to Kris, her wings fluttering slightly. "This is going to be fun."
The knight handed Kris a stamped approval for the mission and gave them a firm nod. "Just… be careful. That sword's been in that mansion for generations. No one's sure why it hasn't been claimed yet, but something's keeping it there. If you manage to retrieve it, the place is yours."
With the mission now in their hands, Kris, Eskira, and Faye set out for the mansion. The townsfolk pointed them in the direction of the estate, which lay on the outskirts of town, shrouded in rumors of hauntings and strange occurrences.
As they approached the mansion, Kris could feel the atmosphere change. The once-bustling town gave way to overgrown fields and trees, and soon enough, the outline of the mansion loomed ahead of them dark and foreboding against the midday sky. The windows were broken, vines curled up the sides of the stone walls, and the entire place looked like it had been forgotten for years.
Faye clung to Kris's arm as they stood in front of the iron gate. "It feels… strange here," she whispered.
Eskira, however, seemed unfazed. She pushed the gate open with a loud creak, her eyes gleaming with anticipation.
"I sense a Powerful curse and also the scent of a C-Rank Monster, we may need to be careful from now on Master, the monster is at C-rank so it means it has some semblance of intelligence" Eskira said observently, Kris flinched from her words and sighed he doesn't know why he is going into unprecedented danger
'oh yeah a place to stay and call home' he sighed and the steeled his heart at the challenge that he was about to face, he is still a lolimancer and he could always use bind on the monster and then run away when it tries to attack them.
