Kris walked towards the door with the two behind them thinking this was a bad idea and borderline dumb, they could have started slow and come back once they were experienced enough.
But at that time which was an hour ago, Kris didn't have common sense, he placed his hand on the doorknob.
It felt cold. "I will regret this"
He muttered with a blank expression then he found his courage and then opened the door, the moment he did a torrent of cold air crashed into his face.
Faye's ears twitched as she heard some unusual things from inside, like the sound of screaming, but she didn't seem all that scared only worried when she glanced up at Kris's pale expression. "Master…"
Eskira coughed. "Ehem, Master don't worry about the monsters inside here, they are mostly F-Rank so they are easier to deal with the presence i feel is under the basement"
Kris turned around and looked at her. "Yeah maybe you are right, but it's the first time i am doing something like this"
Faye blinked. "Master, i don't think sister and i have ever done this either, it's our first time doing this too"
Eskira nodded signifying what Faye said was true and he sighed, he took a step into the mansion and the two followed behind him.
The door slowly closed behind them while they walked further in.
The interior of the mansion was even colder than the draft that greeted them. The air felt thick, as if it had been trapped there for centuries, and every step they took echoed unnaturally through the empty halls. Kris glanced around, trying to shake the growing feeling of unease. The walls were lined with faded tapestries, depicting scenes of old battles and royal ceremonies, but everything was covered in a thick layer of dust. It was clear no one had set foot here in a long time.
"Why does it feel like we're walking into a grave?" Kris muttered under his breath.
Eskira's wings twitched slightly as she scanned the room with her dragonic eyes. "There's definitely something off about this place, Master. The energy is strange, but… manageable. We'll be fine."
Kris wasn't entirely convinced. As they moved deeper into the mansion, they came across broken furniture, shattered windows, and strange markings etched into the stone walls. The further they went, the more oppressive the atmosphere became. The air grew colder, and the eerie silence was only broken by the distant sound of something… moving.
Faye suddenly stopped, her ears twitching as she picked up the sound. "Master, I hear something… ahead."
Kris tensed, gripping his sword. "What kind of something?"
Faye's small hand tugged on his sleeve, pointing down the hallway. "Footsteps… but they don't sound human."
Kris swallowed hard and nodded. "Okay let's be careful then"
The further they went into the mansion the more Kris got a strange feeling.
Then they heard the sound of laughter
Kris froze at the eerie sound, his heart pounding in his chest. The laughter was distant, echoing through the dark halls of the mansion, but it felt far too close for comfort. It wasn't a normal laugh—there was something unsettling about it, almost as if it was mocking them.
Eskira's wings bristled slightly, her pupils narrowing. "That… doesn't sound like an F-Rank monster."
But at that moment something happened, Kris could not see where Eskira and Faue were, they disappeared from his side. "This isn't fun at all"
He said with shaky breaths, the corridor seemed much longer and darker in his vision, there he was, defenseless, powerless and a heart filled with fear.
Kris was a human being and he would of course be scared of the unknown.
But the beings of this world, most of them aren't human and some of them pretend to act human, this mansion belonged to someone of dark dealings. They face the unknown with caution, but they do nit fear them.
And now the resentment that has accumulated within the mansion has now manifested itself to hunt, wether they are innocent or not, child or women.
Kris began to feel something unpleasant crawling around his body, it was like the piercing gazes of people looking at him with a sense of disdain, seeing him as only inferior and useless.
He hated those discriminating stares but he could do nothing but helplessly stand there. "so you are taunting me?"
He asked silently, he had no weapon on his arms and his lolimancer magic won't work because he is still a beginner in this new world.
Then in front of him appeared a face, it was transparent and was looking at him as if pondering about something.
It was a girl or ghost in this apparent way, Kris looked at her and the ghosts big green eyes blinked a few times. "Uhhh, you can see me?"
The girl asked suprised as she floated around Kris, the white dress she was wearing flaoted with her momentum, Kris was suddenly broken out of his earlier dilemma.
The thing that was crawling around him retreated as if it was displeased by the intrusion.
The ghost girl rolled her eyes. "Sister i don't care if he is your prey, the thing that matters is that he can see us, he may be able to help is with 'that'".
Her black hair waved slightly as she turned to look at Kris. "Ah sorry about that, my sister usually makes sure no one lives this long in this old and distasteful place".
Kris couldn't talk, he was utterly terrified by the ghost in front of him. "…".
He was completely silent, The ghost raised an eyebrow. "huh strange you seem ti be afraid of a cute girl like me, is it because i am a specter? if so don't worry as long as i am here my twin sister won't harm you, by the way my name is Mai Destria"
Kris blinked rapidly, trying to process the bizarre turn of events. The fear that had gripped him moments ago was now mingled with confusion. A ghost—a talking, seemingly friendly ghost—was floating in front of him, introducing herself casually, as if this was the most normal thing in the world.
"I-I… uh…" Kris stammered, still struggling to find his voice. "You're… a ghost?"
Mai Destria giggled, her translucent form shimmering in the dim light of the corridor. "Yes, obviously. Though, I'd prefer the term 'specter,' it sounds much more refined." She twirled in the air, her white dress fluttering. "But don't be scared! Like I said, I'm not going to hurt you. I don't get along with my sister on… certain things."
Kris swallowed, his grip on the sword tightening. "Your sister… she's the one who's been messing with me? The one making everything… feel wrong?"
Mai nodded, her expression turning serious. "Yes, she's the one causing the fear, the paralysis. We both have been trapped in this mansion for a long time, and she's… well, let's say she enjoys making people suffer." She floated closer to Kris, her green eyes locking onto his. "But you… you're different. You can see us, which means you have some potential. Maybe you can help break the curse."
Kris stared at her, still processing everything. A curse? The weight of his current situation began to settle in. "What kind of curse?"
Mai floated backward, her form flickering slightly as she sighed. "This mansion used to belong to our family,an ancient line of sorcerers who dabbled in things they shouldn't have. Dark rituals, forbidden magic… it didn't end well. When they died, they left behind this mess. My sister and I are stuck here, along with the remnants of their twisted magic. She's become bitter over the years, and now she takes her anger out on anyone who steps inside."
Kris furrowed his brow. He wasn't sure he could trust this ghost, but if what she was saying was true, then this place was far more dangerous than he had realized. "And what about this sword?" he asked, glancing down at the glowing blade in his hand. "It appeared out of nowhere. Is it part of the curse?"
Mai smiled faintly. "Ah yes, it's mine a gift from my sister when we were still breathing, but lately she took it back from me saying she would make it better for me, despite her ehm violent behavior, ahe is sweet and kind but she likes hiding her emotions behind that cold expression on her face"
Kris eased for a bit. "My uhm Sisters? are here too i hope they are ok though…"
Kris was a tad but worried about Faye and Eskira…he was more worried about Faye, the girl was innocent and also pure hearted, even though he turned her into an intelligent half human being yesterday he still has a sense of responsibility….
While he was worried about that.
*BOOM*
"Ugh sister~ why don't you help me, their blood is yucky" Faye said while scrunching up her face, currently she was using [Deadly paw](Weak Stage).
it made her grow white fur all over her body and transform her legs and arms into bunny limbs, she was a cute mini humanoid Rabbit with Paws that could kill an average ordinary human.
Eskira who was humming while sitting on top of a pink chair smirked at her playfully. "heheeh~ come on don't you want to make Master proud by atleast increasing your [Deadly paw] to the repaired stage, he mag give you some carrots and a lot of head pats~"
Faye's bright red eyes sparkled with a newfound energy, ahe then turned towards the F-Rank monsters.
It was a large group of big rats, for a strange reason the rats felt a strange predatory presence, when they turned around they saw a girl with fully glowing red eyes looking at them viciously.
Before they could react she was already upon them her speed impressive as she tore a hole right into one of the rat's head making green blood and brain matter spill out.
She pulled back her arm looking at the small shards of bones that were slightly imbedded into her arm, she fround.
One rat was about to attack her from behind but was immediately cut down the moment she turned around, the rats two halves fell on the floor as it's organs spilled out and its blood staining more of the floor.
Eskira watched Faye tear through the F-Rank monsters, her smirk widening as she witnessed her sister's rapid improvement. "Not bad, Faye. You're getting faster," she said, her voice a teasing melody. "But don't get too cocky. There's more where that came from."
Faye glanced over her shoulder, her bunny-like limbs covered in green blood and gore. Her nose twitched in distaste. "Ugh, why do they smell so bad? I hate it." Her lips curled into a pout, but there was a glint of pride in her eyes at Eskira's praise.
Eskira stood up from the chair, stretching her dragonic wings briefly before folding them back behind her. "Well, if you want Master to be proud, you'll have to keep at it. No quitting because of a little mess."
Faye wrinkled her nose again but nodded. "Okay… but I better get those head pats after."
Just as she said that, there was another rumble through the mansion, deeper and more ominous this time. The air around them thickened, growing colder. Eskira's expression grew serious, her eyes narrowing as she looked towards the ceiling. "Something's shifting… this isn't the work of these small fries."
A magic circle appeared in front of her and a small pink ball of light appeared. "ok let's clean you up"
she threw the ball at Faye, the blood on her clothes were gone and her wounds were healed within a second.
Eskira fround as she looked down at her hands. 'I need to rest?…why now whatever i'll just ask master to make me a pink room later'
Her mana was running out due to not being close to Kris, she was the spirit of the lolimancer class and she was like a battery and Kris was the charger.
She is weaker without being by her masters side, she had more of a disadvantage than other loli's, the problem could definitely be fixed once she trained enough and reached Rank-C.
She has no physical form as she is still a spirit, her 'physical' appearance was entirely made up from magic.
