Chapter 29 - Chapter Twenty Nine

As Lucas and Alex continued listening, another figure entered the room. Vincenzo, one of Leonardo's oldest allies. The sight of him laughing and chatting with Santoro and The Ghost felt like a punch to Lucas's gut.

Alex voice barely a whisper

"Vincenzo… another chameleon in the house. he was your father's closest advisor. How could he…?"

"It seems loyalty is a rare commodity these days." Lucas with a care free tone.

Inside, Vincenzo raised his glass, toasting with a sly grin.

"Leonardo trusted too easily. That was his weakness. This time, I've chosen the winning side." Vincenzo smirking

Lucas's face twisted with betrayal and anger. Every word felt like a wound reopening. He clenched his jaw, forcing himself to stay silent.

Alex whispering, his hand firm on Lucas's shoulder "Remember why we're here. We can't blow our cover now."

Lucas took a deep breath, focusing on the goal ahead. But the betrayal by Vincenzo cut deeper than he'd expected.

As the meeting inside continued, Lucas whispered to Alex, his voice low and filled with barely-contained fury.

"We're getting into that room, no matter what." Lucas muttering furiously.

Alex frowning at Lucas. "You're talking about confronting all of them now?"

Lucas eyes steely

"No, but I'm going to make sure Vincenzo knows that he's not safe. They think they can control everything from the shadows… but I'll be their worst nightmare."

They moved quietly along the side of the building until they found a side entrance. Lucas picked the lock quickly, and they slipped inside. As they moved toward the meeting room, they saw Vincenzo step out into the hallway alone, talking on his phone.

Alex didn't hesitate. He moved forward, grabbing Vincenzo by the collar and slamming him against the wall, with a menacing whisper.

Alex coldly intoned "Did you think I wouldn't find out? You betrayed Leonardo, your oldest friend, you clown."

Vincenzo's eyes went wide, and his voice shook as he tried to respond.

Vincenzo stammering

"Who the hell are you? How dare you question me?"

"I'm your nightmare! I'm here to finish what Leonardo started. And I will end every last one of you Who conspired against him." Lucas voice low, filled with barely suppressed rage.

Vincenzo's face twisted in fear, and he tried to wriggle free, but Lucas held him tight.

Vincenzo desperately, mumbling. "Listen, I… I was just trying to protect myself. The Ghost… he's too powerful. I had no choice!"

Lucas voice deadly yet calm "You made your choice the moment you sided with my father's killers."

He leaned closer, his voice a whisper that sent a chill down Vincenzo's spine.

"Now tell me everything about The Ghost. Or I'll make you wish you had been loyal." Lucas's voice low but dangerous.

Vincenzo trembled, his resolve breaking under Lucas's glare.

Vincenzo whispering, frantically "The Ghost… he's untouchable. He's got connections in the government, in the military. He's building an empire bigger than anything Leonardo could've imagined."

"Who else is with him? Who betrayed Leonardo?" Lucas pressing harder

Vincenzo swallowed hard, his face paling.

Vincenzo hesitantly smirked. "There's more… powerful people than you know. Business moguls, politicians. They all saw Leonardo as a threat."

Lucas's grip tightened, fury blazing in his eyes.

Just as he released Vincenzo, a voice echoed down the hall.

The Ghost from the shadows echoed. "How touching. Like father, like son."

Both men froze as The Ghost himself stepped into the dim light, his eyes glinting with dark amusement.

The Ghost smiling, mockingly "I knew you'd come eventually. How long do you intend to stay dark. You're exactly what I expected—a nuisance."

Lucas's fists clenched, every fiber of his being ready to lunge at The Ghost, but he held himself back, knowing that this encounter had just escalated beyond anything he'd anticipated.

Lucas voice firm, unyielding "I'm coming for you, Ghost. And I won't stop until you're gone."

The Ghost simply chuckled, a dark, haunting sound that echoed through the hallway.

The Ghost smirked "Let the game begin Then."
