Chapter 30 - Chapter Thirty

Lucas's heart pounded in his chest, his mind racing as he stared into the face of the man behind his father's death. The Ghost stood just beyond arm's reach, a smirk playing on his lips a calm, detached menace that sent a chill through the air. The silent hallway suddenly felt too narrow, too dark.

"I must admit, you're more resilient than I expected. I thought I'd dealt with all of Leonardo's little… loose ends." The Ghost smiling, voice low and taunting

Lucas's fists clenched, every muscle in his body tense with restrained fury.

Lucas voice steady, laced with venom "Then you underestimated me. Just like you underestimated my father. But I'm far more than what you ever imagined."

"Your father was bold. But his loyalty blinded him. And you. You are here for loyalty? Or for revenge?" The Ghost chuckling, a glint of amusement in his eyes.

"You took everything from me. My father… his empire…his legacy. I'm here to finish what he started." Lucas Coldly intone.

"Legacy? An illusion, boy. Your father clung to it, and it got him killed. But I… I'm building something real." The Ghost lashed out.

Lucas took a step forward, his gaze piercing.

Lucas voice dangerously soft "And how real will it feel when I tear it all down?"

The Ghost's smirk vanished, his expression hardening.

The Ghost voice lowering, menace seeping into his tone "You're playing a dangerous game, boy. You may be playing in shadows, but I'm the darkness itself."

Just as the tension reached a breaking point, the sound of footsteps echoed down the hallway. Lucas turned, only to see Alex charging toward them, his gun drawn and eyes blazing.

Alex echoed, his voice urgent "Lucas, we need to go now!"

Lucas glanced back, but The Ghost was already retreating into the shadows, his taunting voice trailing behind him.

The Ghost mockingly says. "Run while you still can, boy. Next time, you won't be so lucky."

Gritting his teeth, Lucas grabbed Vincenzo, dragging him along as they rushed down the hallway and out of the estate. Alex led the way, his movements sharp and precise, guiding them through the maze of corridors and out into the cold night air.

Once they reached the safety of the car, Lucas shoved Vincenzo into the back seat, his expression dark as he slammed the door shut.

Lucas voice urgent with an unexpressed anger "You're going to tell me everything, Vincenzo. No more lies."

Vincenzo swallowed hard, glancing nervously at Alex, who gave him a warning glare.

"Better start talking, Vincenzo. Because if you don't, I'll make sure he gets every answer out of you… one way or another." Alex voice low but dangerous.

Back at their safehouse, Lucas and Alex forced Vincenzo into a chair, tied his hands behind his back. The room was dim, Vincenzo terrified as he cast his gaze on the faces of the two masked men. Lucas paced in front of him, the anger radiating from him visible.

"But how is that possible! Leonardo had no son." Vincenzo says with a trembling voice.

"Spare me the trash and start talking. You worked with The Ghost. You betrayed my father. Now, you're going to tell me exactly what you know." Lucas muttering with an icy firmly voice.

"I… I didn't want this! You have to believe me! The Ghost, he's unstoppable. He's got men everywhere, in every corner of the city. If I hadn't cooperated… I'd be dead by now." Vincenzo uttered with his voice trembling.

Lucas voice dangerously and calm "And now you think you'll live by telling me what I want to know? Start talking, Vincenzo. Why did The Ghost target my father?"

"Your father was a threat. His control over the city, his loyalty… it kept everyone in line. But The Ghost, he wants absolute power. He didn't want order, he wanted domination. Anyone loyal to your father stood in his way."

Vincenzo reluctantly smirked with a cold voice.

Lucas's jaw tightened, fury simmering beneath the surface. This was more than just a power struggle. The Ghost's plan went deeper, his ambitions darker than Lucas had imagined.

"Who else is involved? Who else betrayed my father?"Lucas's voice steady and commanding.

Vincenzo hesitated, casting a fearful glance at Alex before meeting Lucas's gaze.

Vincenzo almost whispering "There's a council of sorts. Men in high places, politicians, businessmen, even some of the police. They all answer to The Ghost."

"And you're telling me you just went along with it?" Alex mumbling in anger.

"I had no choice! You think I wanted this? Leonardo was like family to me. But The Ghost… he has ways of making people do what he wants." Vincenzo defensively uttered.

Lucas mumbled with a cold voice "Then you're going to help me destroy it. Every last piece of it."

Vincenzo eyes widening in fear, intoned "No… no, please. If The Ghost finds out I betrayed him… he'll kill me."

"If you don't help me, I'll make sure he's the least of your worries." Lucas voice deadly calm.
