In his blue Jellyfish form, Finn was at a loss of words as he saw her use her palms to cover her face and cried.
He would have loved to turn to his Fenrir form, maybe that would be more friendly looking for her, but he didn't want to change forms because he hoped to manage his mana.
Finn opted to gesture to the young girl about how welcoming he could be. He waved at her, rubbed his tentacles as if he was pleading, then randomly danced around, trying to cheer her up.
'I wonder how one would react when they see me kill some people, then I start doing weird dances right after…" Finn mused deprecatingly as he moved closer to her.
Hesitatingly, he extended his tentacles to her and patted her orange hair. Seeing as she paid no attention to him, Finn thought, 'There's also a chance the reason she cried was not him.'
What Finn didn't know was that this young girl had woken up long ago waiting for the perfect time to escape from his grasp. She saw how he cocooned her and fought the people who were supervising her and her dead siblings.
Initially, she didn't believe one of the savage monsters of this region would save her so she wanted to attempt fleeing when she had a chance, but her opinion of the monster changed after seeing its nature.
She assumed her abilities influenced this beast to a certain degree.
After the death of her supervisors, she didn't know when she began to cry. She has been escorted here by those men multiple times along with other children but she'll always be the only one to survive.
She has tried to escape many times with the help of her abilities, but she was always caught at the end.
Now that the men that had always threatened and mocked her had died, she cried tears of joy. Freedom wasn't so far-fetched anymore.
Then, she felt the pat of the weird creature on her head prompting her to look up to it.
"H-hello," She said.
'Oh, oh, she didn't run away!' Finn thought, then waved to her in response since he couldn't talk or understand her.
The young girl didn't know what to do now, but she felt like using this opportunity very well.
"I'm Anatalia, n-nice to meet you."
Finn couldn't understand her well, and only shrugged at her words.
Anatalia also didn't understand this beast, but since it didn't avoid her or something, she still felt somewhat calm.
'I don't get what she's saying… Oh, that reminds me, there's something I want to test!'
After gesturing for her to wait, Finn turned to the body of one of the dead and used his skill.
He firstly sped up the process of the astral body appearing, then absorbed it. While he absorbed it, the ego of the body was let out, but it didn't matter to Finn.
When the astral body and the core were now within his core, Finn used echo energy to destroy the astral body that protected the core.
Using more echo energy, Finn formed a link with the core and what was within it. What Finn needed was the mind that was within this core, its intelligence and understanding would now affect Finn's. This would give him a certain understanding of the language the girl spoke.
His inspiration for this was his Possession skill.
Finn had tried this out with monsters and knew it would work to an extent so he waited for when he met a sentient being to complete this. This human core was weak, it even lacked skills, so it was easy to link with it without expending much echo.
Anatalia saw the weird beast go to one of the corpses, watched it hovered over there a bit, and was confused as it came back to her after doing nothing.
After forming a solid link with the core, Finn calmed his mind for a bit, feeling its effect.
Looking at the girl who was on the floor, he waved again as he said with a slightly high pitched voice, "Hello there. I am Finn."
Hearing this beast talk, Anatalia panicked, different thoughts and questions ran through her head. Finally she asked, "W-what are you?!"
Finn would have loved to say a Jellyfish or wolf, but he wasn't ready to go through asking many questions, plus he needed the trust of this girl. Also, she saw his weird human form.
"Well, I am a Ghost!" Finn replied. 'I'm actually an evolved ghost, but do you need to know that right now?' He added in his mind.
Anatalia has heard stories about Ghost and at the moment the only realization that stood out was that it wasn't her ability that influenced this creature. Her ability was outside its league.
Trying to cover her fear, she questioned, "What do you want from me?"
Seeing her reaction, Finn chuckled, "You don't need to be scared. Ghosts aren't that bad, I mean look at me." He joked, then replied, "I want you to take me to the outside world, I promise I wouldn't do anything to you."
"What? What do you mean? Y-you can do that on your own." Anataia blurted.
"Ever since I ended up in this world, I have been in this place, I want to go out but I don't know how." Finn replied, taking the opportunity to add some stuff. "I just want you to take me outside of here, that'll make everything easier!"
Anatalia pondered on his statement, taking some key information. "You are an otherworlder?"
"If that's what you call them, then that's correct," Finn replied. "I know you're a bit skeptical about this, but let me tell you, if you think you can survive here alone, then think again! It's best if you guide me out, I'll protect you throughout the journey, so it's a win-win."
For handling someone like this girl, Finn felt like telling her some truths would be easier.
Anatalia understood what Finn meant, she had explored this region on her own multiple times after all. But it was hard to trust this creature.
Unfortunately, she didn't have a choice, this was also her best bet at the moment. Every other option she had had a very high death chance compared to this.
Finn patiently waited for her to answer. He might have said he only needed her to guide her through the city, but he felt like he might need more eventually, so it's best to stay on her goodside.
"Alright." Anatalia accepted.
"That's great, ehhh… I'm sorry, I didn't get your name."
"I'm Anatalia."
"That's a nice name. Okay, Anatalia. I hope you treat me well!" Finn said, extending one of his tentacles to her.
Although Anatalia was feeling a turmoil of emotions and thought, she couldn't help but smile seeing the outgoing nature of this creature. "I hope so too, Finn." She shook his tentacles as she replied.
