Chapter 7 - Danielle’s points of view

Danielle.

I moved my eyes away from him, it was starting to become some sort of competition. I decided to just look away. Thankfully, the meeting ended and I couldn't even remember anything. I needed to leave as soon as possible, I couldn't be seen with him. My heart raced like it was in some sort of trance or anxiety,

I didn't want that, why was I bothered, I tried so hard not to make sure that I was concerned.

I tried to have a conversation with Summer and Adam but they were all wrapped up about looking at Arthur and that wasn't fun.

"I hope we can all have a healthy and constructive relationship with the company and with me. Thank you all." Arthur said a little short speech as he stood up, his eyes were on me still and what made it worse was the fact that-"

"I should leave, I have a lot of paperwork to finish on." I said as I stood up, I felt a hand touching me. "Don't you want to stay behind and wait, we might get to introduce ourselves to the head of the branch, come on." Janet said as she carefully placed her hair behind her ear. She stared at Arthur with a sexy look, it was like I was a pile or a support system while she tried to win him over with a few body movements. I rolled my eyes and removed my hands gently. "You are crazy." I mouthed to her as I turned. The further I walked I could hear Adam and Summer , they called on to me but I just waved as I left in haste. I just don't want any more "situations" where he would want to talk to me. Especially not in front of my friends.

They seemed to have listened and enjoyed the brief meeting, I was busy looking around and trying to avoid his face as a whole.

I gulped so many times, reliving each of it I can't even say I remember whatever it was that was talked about.

I dashed out to the semi empty hall and I sighed. I was glad that I already escaped the whole meet and greet, wait it wasn't a meeting or greet. It was a brief meeting but the fact was that it had ended well anyways. The elevator was just a few steps away, I needed to leave this floor to increase my chances of avoiding Arthur. Just as I was about to press the elevator door open, my phone buzzed. I looked at it, I could already tell that it was a message while I was looking at who texted, someone walked in the elevator and it was my chance to enter.

It was a message from Janet, she was asking where I was, and she emphasized on how I missed meeting the new head of department. I can already imagine how sore my ears will be. She is just so sweet and a very fast typist. I smiled as I locked my phone. I finally looked up to see the person that got in, and it was him. I gulped hard as I saw him inches away from me, my eyes widened at the thought that it wasn't a ghost I saw. The elevator door wasn't closed yet and I wanted to get out as soon as I could, I held my hands in a fist.

Our eyes met. I raised mine without realization, he moved closer to the door and closed it. I knew what he did and he did too, I was stuck again, with Arthur. He looked at me as he trapped us in the elevator. He had a smile on, a smirk actually.

"Are you running away from me?" He removed his hands from the elevator as turned to me. I couldn't look at his eyes, I kept staring at my legs. "No- no, I am not running from you." I stuttered as I denied and stared at everything but him.

"You aren't telling the truth." He said in a low tone as he took steps forward and I moved backwards, I finally hit the wall and he stopped. He raised his hands and placed them on the wall, leaving me trapped in his gaze. His eyes shined and I stared at them.

I was a bit hot and bothered by how much of my personal space he had invaded and how there was nothing that I could do again. I gulped and this time it was way slower. I couldn't even let out a single sound, I felt as though my voice was loud in the clouds.

"You haven't even answered my question yet your eyes seem to have answers- but your lips do." He said those words and held my chin up, I was looking down again. "Eyes on me." He demanded as he growled. I was still stunned and speechless by his move. I was still dumbstruck accessing his face.

"You can't talk?" He raised his eyebrows and smiled softly, he moved his hands as soon as he heard the elevator ding. He smiled and turned. "You need to work on your communication skills. Gulping and staring? Doesn't work that much, you are a fast learner, I am sure you can do it in no time." He titled his head again as he left, my legs felt like jelly, I was weak in the knees. As soon as the door closed. I fell to the floor. "What was that?" I said in a stern tone. I stood up and I dusted myself.

I was being distracted, being moved by him, his touch. His smell and his charisma. I closed my eyes and I went out of the elevator.

My walk back to the office was filled with thoughts of what could have been and how it could have been.

"I can't allow him to affect him anymore." I said as I went back to my office.
