Chapter 20 - 20 Execution in the Market

The next morning, Lane still got up early, even earlier than yesterday.

After all, to be honest, Lane didn't want to ride the horse that fast anymore. Not only could Nanali not stand it, but that poor thin horse couldn't either.

Stepping out of the room, Lane saw that the two maid sisters got up earlier than him as usual and were already cleaning at this time.

"Good morning! Mr. Lane!"

The energetic and lively voice naturally belonged to Daisy.

"Good morning, Mr. Lane."

The voice with respect and a bit of maturity belonged to Darrie.

Lane nodded, smiled and replied good morning, then was about to wash up.

Before taking two steps, he saw Nanali walk out of the room, still rubbing her sleepy eyes.

"Good morning, Nanali. Up so early?"

Lane said with a smile.

Nanali yawned slightly. Of course, she wouldn't say that she was afraid of riding Lane's horse when it was almost late:

"I just got up relatively late yesterday."

"Is that so..."

Lane knew what Nanali was thinking, but didn't expose it. The big one and the small one washed up together.

Using wind magic to dry Nanali's hair as yesterday, Lane asked Nanali to sit at the dining table and wait. He himself went into the kitchen to start preparing breakfast.

"Mr. Lane, is it a bit disrespectful for you to call the young lady by her name like this?"

While cooking, Darrie first spent a lot of effort to send away Daisy who was lingering in the kitchen, then asked Lane.

While cooking, Lane smiled and said:

"This was requested by Nanali."

"Hmm?"

Hearing this, Darrie blinked her beautiful eyes, a little surprised.

It's only been a few days since Mr. Lane came? Has he conquered the young lady like this?

Old Lamb has taken care of the young lady for so many years, but the young lady has never asked Old Lamb to call her by her name. "By the way, Mr. Lane, what about the matter of Marquis Bacassi..."

"The matter of Marquis Bacassi..."

Lane first pondered for a moment, then seemed to answer irrelevantly and smiled:

"By the way, the ingredients in the mansion are running out. Could you please go to the market to buy some ingredients later? Do you need me to give you a ride?"

Hearing Lane's reply, Darrie was stunned for a moment, then immediately thought of something:

"I understand. I'll go by myself later. Don't trouble Mr. Lane."

During the time chatting with Darrie, Lane had already finished making breakfast and started serving it on plates.

Picking up the breakfast for himself and Nanali, Lane looked at Darrie: "Did you learn?"

Darrie was stunned again. She was indeed secretly learning how to make Lane's dishes, but she didn't expect to be discovered by Lane.

Then, Darrie smiled and said: "I learned. Let me make breakfast tomorrow, is that okay?"

"Sure, and thank you for sharing the burden for me."

After having breakfast with Nanali, there was still some time before the church bell rang.

Originally, Lane planned to drive the carriage, but Nanali blushed and said that taking the carriage was too troublesome. Lane had to take Nanali to ride the horse again.

Because there was no rush, Lane rode slowly all the way. Nanali held the arm that Lane used to hold her with her two small hands and was also looking at the scenery around.

When Lane rode the horse seriously, it was even more stable than a carriage. Nanali had never seen the scenery of Atel City from such an open view before.

But after looking for a while, Nanali felt bored and withdrew her gaze.

For some reason, Nanali always felt that Atel City was a bit... lifeless.

When they were halfway through the journey and passed by the market of Atel City, the church bell just rang.

Nanali suddenly noticed that the bell had just rung now. It should be the time when commoners just went out, but the entrance of the market was crowded with people.

The tightly packed crowd made it impossible for Nanali to see the situation inside clearly. She had to prick up her ears to listen.

Vaguely, Nanali heard some words such as "Marquis Bacassi" and "Knight Captain".

Was it related to those knights who broke into her house yesterday and falsely accused her of hiding forbidden books?

Nanali couldn't hold back her curiosity in the end. Looking up at Lane, she asked:

"Lane, what's going on there?"

"It should be some kind of performance. There's nothing to see."

Lane replied with a smile.

But the next moment, a shrill wail came from the entrance of the market.

A burst of cheers followed immediately, suppressing that shrill wail.

It was enough to see how long the grievances of this group of commoners had accumulated against that knight captain of the Bacassi family.

Lane didn't stop and quickly left there on horseback.

Suddenly, Lane sensed a gaze and lowered his head. Seeing that Nanali in his arms was looking up at him without blinking, not knowing what she was thinking.

"Nanali, what's wrong?"

"... No, nothing."

Nanali shook her head and withdrew her gaze.

At an angle that Lane couldn't see, Nanali couldn't help showing a hint of a smile on her face.

She seemed to have guessed what Lane did last night when he went out.

Or rather, she actually guessed it last night. But she didn't expect that Lane solved it in such a way.

Arriving at Orcutt College, Lane rode the horse to the stable, stopped the horse, and got off with Nanali.

Turning his head, Lane just saw a knight wearing silver-white armor leading a horse, seemingly wanting to park the horse in Lane's position.

And this knight happened to be the one who got a shoulder throw from him yesterday morning.

"Yo, we meet again!"

Lane acted very familiar and waved: "Do you need me to give you the position?"

The eyes under the knight's armor glared at Lane and silently led the horse to another position.

It seemed that the knights of the Odice family still had some qualities.

Although somewhat overbearing and domineering, they still knew the limits when doing things.

I just don't know what the situation is with the daughter of the Odice family...

Bringing Nanali to the teaching building of Orcutt College, Lane saw from afar a figure with white hair waiting there.

"Teacher Rowling."

Nanali greeted first.

"It seems that your condition has recovered. That's great."

Rowling nodded to Nanali, then said to Lane:

"I've already told the dean about your substituting for the class. The dean wants to meet you."

"Did she agree?"

Lane asked.

"She agreed. The dean said that I would teach the first half of the class and leave the second half to you."

"OK."

First sending Nanali into the classroom and asking Rowling about where the dean was, Lane set off to find the dean of Orcutt.
