Chapter 32 - Chapter Nineteen

A reminder an important thing at the end of the chapter. Hope u look at it.

___________

The safe house was eerily quiet, with only the distant hum of the city outside. Derek sat on the edge of a worn-out couch, flipping through the channels on the TV. News reports on Robin's tragic death dominated the screen, showing the aftermath and the outrage that followed. Derek's stomach twisted at the sight of the grieving family and the cries for justice. He had spent the last few days gathering intel, watching as the world reacted to the loss of another life at the hands of a supposed hero.

Derek sighed, his thoughts swirling. He had to do something. He couldn't just be a bystander in this chaotic world anymore. As if responding to his determination, a familiar chime echoed in his mind.

The video that had went viral had done some significant damage, but it was wiped out of the internet quickly. Vought's PR is far greater than Derek had thought.

**System Alert**: **New Upgrade Available**

Derek's heart raced as he focused on the alert. He had been training with his shape-shifting powers, pushing the limits of what he could do, but he had yet to tap into any new abilities. He closed his eyes, centering himself as the system continued.

**System Activation**: **Auto-spin successful. Reward: Power Absorption Ability unlocked.**

The information flooded his mind. This was something akin to Rogue's ability from the Marvel Universe—the power to absorb the abilities and memories of anyone he touched. Derek's breath quickened as he processed the implications.

**Power Explanation**: **This ability allows you to absorb the abilities and memories of any being you touch. The absorption is temporary, lasting for a limited time, but grants you full access to their powers and experiences during that period. Use wisely.**

Derek's mind raced. This was huge. He could potentially gain access to the powers of The Seven, learn their secrets, and expose them for what they truly were. The thought of confronting A-Train or even Homelander with their own abilities sent a thrill down his spine.

"Okay, Derek," he whispered to himself, a grin forming on his lips. "Let's see what we can do with this."

Derek stood in the training room, staring at his hands, the anticipation bubbling within him. He had to test this new power. The air felt electric, and the possibilities were endless, but he needed to understand how it worked.

He took a deep breath and reached out to touch a training dummy. Nothing happened. Frustration creased his brow as he tried again, this time touching the wall. Still nothing.

"What's the deal?" he muttered, pacing the room. "Do I need to touch a living being?"

With newfound determination, he decided to test the power on a small insect that had crawled across the floor. He gently placed his hand over it, hoping to feel something, but again, nothing happened.

Derek frowned, disappointment settling in. He needed something more substantial. He glanced at the door, contemplating calling Eric. But he hesitated, not wanting to reveal his new power just yet. After a moment of internal struggle, he made his decision.

"Alright, let's do this," he said, pulling out his phone. He called Eric and told him to come over.

When Eric arrived, Derek casually engaged him in conversation, maintaining an air of normalcy. But underneath, he felt the anticipation building.

"Hey, I was thinking of trying something new. Mind if I give you a quick check-up?" Derek asked, a teasing grin on his face.

"Check-up?" Eric raised an eyebrow, looking skeptical. "What do you mean?"

Derek shrugged, trying to downplay it. "Just a little experiment."

Before Eric could respond, Derek grabbed his arm, initiating contact. The moment their skin touched, a rush of energy surged through Derek. Memories flooded his mind—Eric's thoughts, feelings, experiences—everything crashing in like waves against the shore.

Derek staggered back, momentarily overwhelmed. He saw snippets of Eric's life—childhood memories, moments of triumph, and heartache. But alongside them came knowledge, skills, and most importantly, a clear understanding of how the power worked.

"Whoa!" Eric exclaimed, momentarily dazed. "What just happened?"

"Just testing something," Derek said, trying to mask his excitement. He felt invigorated, knowing how to use his new ability. "I think I know how this works now."

"Testing something? You scared the hell out of me!" Eric laughed, shaking his head. "What did you touch, anyway?"

"Just a little experiment with my power," Derek replied, a sly smile on his lips. "But it could give us a huge advantage."

As they settled into the living room, Derek shared his findings with Eric. "I can absorb powers temporarily. Imagine if I could touch one of The Seven—get their abilities and learn their secrets."

Eric's expression shifted from curiosity to concern. "That's... really dangerous, Derek. If you touch the wrong person, they'll know something's off. You could blow your cover."

"I get it," Derek replied, trying to quell his friend's worries. "But this is a chance to gain an edge. If I can get close to Homelander or A-Train, I could expose them for who they really are."

Eric sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. "I'm all for taking down The Seven, but we have to be smart about this. It's risky."

"I know," Derek said, determination fueling his words. "But if we want to make a real impact, we have to take risks. I've already got a plan to get in with Vought as Ryan Reynolds. Now, we just need to find a way to get close to one of The Seven."

Eric's brow furrowed, contemplating the idea. "You really think you can pull it off?"

"Absolutely," Derek asserted. "With this new ability, I can become whoever I need to be. We just need to find the right opportunity."

"Alright, I'm in," Eric said, though a hint of hesitation lingered in his voice. "But let's be careful."

Days later, Derek, disguised as Ryan Reynolds, stood outside Vought Tower, feeling a mix of nerves and excitement. The sleek, glass structure loomed above him, representing the heart of the corporate machine that powered The Seven. He adjusted his collar and squared his shoulders, ready to play his part.

Inside, he was greeted by Madelyn Stillwell, her eyes sparkling with interest. "Ryan! I'm so glad you could make it. I think we can do great things together."

"Glad to be here, Madelyn," Derek replied, forcing a charming smile as he settled into his role. "I'm excited about the possibilities."

As they walked into the conference room, Derek noticed the PR team buzzing with ideas, eager to capitalize on his celebrity status. Madelyn's enthusiasm was palpable. "Having you involved with The Seven could do wonders for our image, especially after the fallout from Translucent's death."

"Definitely," Derek agreed, nodding. "Public perception is everything in this business. What are your thoughts on how I can help?"

Madelyn leaned back in her chair, her gaze piercing. "We need to revamp The Seven's image. You being the charismatic Ryan Reynolds can draw in fans and media. It's gold for our PR."

Derek's mind raced. While Madelyn discussed strategy, he kept his focus on how to gain access to the heroes. He knew he needed to find a way to get close to Homelander, who was the key to his plans.

"Would you consider doing some public appearances with The Seven?" Madelyn asked, her tone shifting to a more serious note. "I think having you alongside them would send a strong message."

"Absolutely," Derek replied, excitement bubbling within him. "I'd love to show my support for our heroes."

Madelyn's smile widened. "Great! We can start with a charity event next week. It will be a perfect opportunity to showcase you with The Seven. I'll arrange for you to meet some of them."

As they continued discussing plans, Derek felt his heart race. This was the chance he had been waiting for. If he could get close enough, he could touch one of them and absorb their powers, gaining valuable insight.

"Now, I'll have my assistant coordinate everything. Let's make sure this goes smoothly," Madelyn said, her eyes gleaming with ambition.

"Looking forward to it, Madelyn," Derek said, suppressing the urge to smile wider. He knew he was on the brink of something monumental, a pivotal moment in his mission to take down The Seven.

As he left the meeting, Derek felt a renewed sense of purpose. He had the tools and the opportunity to infiltrate the heroes he once idolized. It was time to set his plan into motion and bring the truth to light.

Derek stepped out of Vought Tower, the weight of his ambitions settling on his shoulders. He had new powers, a solid plan, and a growing determination to change the narrative surrounding heroes. As he glanced up at the towering structure, he couldn't help but feel that he was finally on the right path, ready to carve his name in this chaotic world.

But deep down, he knew that the road ahead would be fraught with danger and uncertainty. With the power to absorb and mimic the abilities of others, he felt a sense of responsibility weighing on him. He wasn't just fighting for himself anymore; he was fighting for those who had fallen victim to the negligence of heroes.

Time to get to work.

Derek, still operating under the guise of Ryan Reynolds, strolled through the sleek halls of Vought Tower, the faint hum of fluorescent lights illuminating the polished floor. The air buzzed with the promise of stardom and the weight of ambition, and Derek felt it settle around him like a comfortable cloak. This was his new reality, one he had crafted from the remnants of his former life, where danger and power intertwined in the shadows. Today, he was to meet Queen Maeve, one of the most formidable members of The Seven.

As he stepped into the elegantly appointed conference room, Derek felt a mixture of excitement and anxiety. Madelyn Stillwell stood at the head of the table, her sharp eyes gleaming with the excitement of orchestrating a new PR campaign. "Everyone, I'd like to introduce Ryan Reynolds. He's considering a collaboration with The Seven."

A round of polite applause erupted, and Derek flashed his most charming smile, the one that had made him a household name in another life. As he scanned the room, he caught sight of Maeve, standing slightly apart from the rest. She was striking, her dark hair cascading over her shoulders like a waterfall, but there was a guardedness about her that made Derek pause. This was no ordinary superhero; she radiated strength and defiance, the kind of woman who had seen too much and trusted too little.

"Ryan," Madelyn continued, gesturing toward Maeve, "this is Queen Maeve. I think you two will have much to discuss."

Derek extended his hand, trying to suppress the trepidation that threatened to seep through his facade. "It's an honor, Maeve. I'm a huge fan of your work."

Maeve's expression was unreadable as she shook his hand, her grip firm. "Is that right? You're just here for the publicity, I assume."

Derek chuckled, the sound light and carefree, but her directness caught him off guard. "Well, I wouldn't mind a little fame, but I genuinely think there's potential for something great here."

"Greatness isn't just about publicity," Maeve replied, her tone clipped. "It's about real impact." The subtle challenge in her voice was clear. She was not one to be swayed by charm or superficiality.

As the conversation flowed around the table, Derek sensed the tension between them. Maeve was scrutinizing him, and he felt the weight of her gaze, assessing him with a calculated precision. It reminded him of predators sizing up their prey. In that moment, he realized he needed to tread carefully. Her mistrust was palpable, and if he was going to execute his plan, he would have to earn her trust—or at least her curiosity.

The meeting progressed, but Derek's mind was racing with possibilities. The key to his plan lay in Maeve, a powerful ally who might also provide a gateway to Homelander. As discussions turned to potential promotional strategies, he caught a glimpse of his opportunity: a moment when Maeve stood slightly apart, her attention momentarily distracted by the banter of the others.

Derek seized the moment. He approached her with an easy confidence, extending his hand once more. "Maeve, can we talk privately for a moment?"

She raised an eyebrow but nodded, leading him to a quieter corner of the room. "What is it, Ryan?"

He could feel the pulse of his heart quicken, the thrill of the imminent risk. "I wanted to ask how you really feel about everything going on with The Seven. I imagine it's not easy to watch from the inside."

For a moment, she studied him, the skepticism etched into her features. Then, as if deciding he was worth the effort, she sighed. "You have no idea what it's like to be part of this… circus."

Derek seized the moment. As their hands met in a handshake, he deliberately held on a second too long, activating his newly acquired absorption ability. A rush of energy surged through him, overpowering and intoxicating. Memories and emotions flooded his mind—Maeve's doubts, her anger, her fierce loyalty to her team, and the heavy burden of responsibility that weighed on her shoulders.

Suddenly, she pulled her hand back, her expression shifting to one of confusion. "What was that?"

Derek feigned innocence, the mask of Ryan Reynolds firmly in place. "Just a handshake, Maeve. Nice and friendly, right?"

She narrowed her eyes, suspicion creeping back in, but she didn't press further. Derek felt the pulse of her strength coursing through him, invigorating and terrifying all at once. It was a taste of power, a glimpse of what he could do if he played his cards right.

Back at the safe house, Derek stood before a heavy piece of machinery in the training room, the remnants of Maeve's strength still resonating within him. He took a deep breath, feeling the energy thrumming through his veins. With a determined grin, he bent down and lifted the machinery with ease, marveling at the sheer force he now commanded.

"This is incredible," he muttered to himself, exhilaration coursing through him. The realization of what he could do with this new ability was intoxicating. He could become a force to be reckoned with, a weapon against the tyranny of The Seven, especially against Homelander.

After several tests, Derek began to strategize. He sat at a table strewn with papers and images of The Seven, his mind racing with thoughts of the future. If he could get close to Homelander and absorb his powers, even temporarily, it could turn the tide in their favor. But he also knew the risks. Homelander was unpredictable and dangerous, a true monster hidden beneath a polished exterior.

Derek's phone buzzed, breaking his concentration. It was Eric. "How did it go?" he asked, concern lacing his voice.

"I absorbed Maeve's powers," Derek replied, unable to suppress his excitement. "She's strong, Eric. I felt her strength, and I have access to some of her memories."

"Are you sure that's safe?" Eric's tone turned serious. "Maeve isn't someone to take lightly. If she finds out…"

"Then I'll deal with it," Derek interrupted, his voice steady. "This is my chance to infiltrate The Seven and get close to Homelander. I can't pass it up."

As the days turned into a blur of training and planning, Derek felt the weight of his decisions pressing down on him. He and Eric pored over potential strategies to execute the infiltration, Eric's skepticism a constant backdrop to Derek's rising confidence.

"We need to be smart about this," Eric warned, his brow furrowed. "If you touch Homelander and he figures out what you're doing…"

"I know the risks," Derek replied, his determination unwavering. "But think about what we could learn. His weaknesses, his strategies, everything we need to finally take him down."

Eric sighed, running a hand through his hair. "Derek, you're talking about a man who could kill you without breaking a sweat. You need to be careful."

"I will be," Derek insisted, the fire of his ambition blazing within him. "I'm going to get close to him, and when I do, I'll have everything I need to level the playing field. I won't let fear dictate my actions anymore."

As the sun began to set outside the safe house, casting long shadows across the room, Derek felt a renewed sense of purpose. He was no longer just a pawn in a dangerous game; he was a player, ready to take control of his destiny.

The next phase of his plan loomed on the horizon, and with each passing moment, he steeled himself for the challenges ahead. It was time to confront the darkness of The Seven and emerge victorious.

With a final glance at the makeshift training area, Derek's resolve crystallized. He was ready. No matter the cost, he would fight to reclaim his life and exact revenge against the forces that had wronged him.

And soon, he would become a force that even Homelander would have to reckon with.

ALRIGHT PEOPLE .

THIS IS IMPORTANT!!!

I USUALLY GET BORED WHILE WRITING SAME NOVEL EVERYDAY OR EVERY 2 DAYS, SO I USUALLY WRITE DIFFERENT ONES.

I HAVE AN IDEA RECENTLY.

ABOUT ANOTHER FANFIC.

ONE ABOUT SQUID GAMES.

Here's some plot thing I thought of:

MC would be son of a cop, and he is living his day normally. he has no idea which world he got reincarnated in. but one night when he was traveling from subway, he sees 2 people playing dakchi. or whatever the game is. let me be clear this ain't the main lead of Squid game, this guy is different one. Then the guy of the squid game, coat guy, goes inside the subway, while the player has the card in his hand.

MC threatens and takes away that card, and wants to play in squid games

he calls the number and says I am interested in playing. and if they ask who is this, he would say his own name truthfully. and if they know they haven't given card to said name person, he would say, I have killed the guy or something. squid game hosts find it interesting and do some background check and after they know his father is a cop takes him in. because many criminals are also in the games, and MC's father is a well known person. MC is fking handsome so he would have relationship with some female characters, not that aunty tho. the one with that Thanos like guy.

MC would have some friend or he has hacker ability so he escapes their background check on the guy, who the MC said he has "killed".

He would fake his death temporarily. Till he completes the game. MC being a reincarnator knows the games in the squid games. Since he has watched two seasons of the tv show.

What do u guys think about this?

I thought of harem? Since that'd be good, and reason why MC wants to play though it is dangerous? Because he has a system that can help him by selling him items that might help him, in terms of physique improvement and all. Obviously not unbelievable type, like he won't be able to be a Thor or hulk. But captain America, maybe? Who knows?

It depends on your opinion too. He could have a physique of a superhero like normal superhero. If there exists one.

That's all about the FanFic.
