Chapter 4 - Gringotts

They moved forward while McGonagall explained," this is the shopping street of wizarding world. This is called the diagon Alley. Everything you need in school will be here. From books, robes, quills, brooms and even potion ingredients and pets ".

Grangers asked with surprise," since when did this street even existed professor. No one outside even know this ", McGonagall explained with a smile," no Mr Granger, your muggle world also knew about this. It's just only high level officials with authority or parents of muggleborn wizards. Your government and our ministry sometimes even meets to find the situation on either sides".

Damian nodded, no matter how much wizards hide and how deeply they did. It's impossible for absolute concealment. They need support from muggle high levels too, not to mention the train literally needs the Authorization of government to build. But it's not a surprise. According to lore, the pendragon family is the monarch of Britain although in name only now in this world. They don't have any wizards for several centuries. Merlin's line is extinct, and Morgana lefay is missing. No legendary figures anymore. But since the pendragon bloodline is continuing there isn't a surprise that ministry is co-operating with muggle government .

They moved forward and arrived at gringotts. McGonagall said,"Gringotts Wizarding Bank was the only wizarding bank in Great Britain, and was owned and operated by goblins. It was founded by a goblin named Gringott in 1474. Its main offices were located in England. In addition to storing money and valuables for wizards and witches, one could come here to exchange Muggle money for wizarding money, But you need to be careful with those goblins. They're greedy and deceptive. There is evena saying, a goblin will not anything without profit. So be careful around them".

Grangers asked," then why are they running a bank", McGonagall looked at them and said," because of their oath. Goblins are defeated and the pact gave them the financial duty without any deception. So they're bound to run the financial line without betraying wizards ".

Grangers nodded with confusion. the entrance to Gringotts, and it led into a small entrance hall and another set of doors. Engraved on these silver doors were the words:

Enter, stranger, but take heed

Of what awaits the sin of greed

For those who take, but do not earn,

Must pay most dearly in their turn.

So if you seek beneath our floors

A treasure that was never yours,

Thief, you have been warned, beware

Of finding more than treasure there.

Through these doors, also flanked with goblins, was a vast marble hall long counters stretching along its length with doors leading off to the vault passageways with around a hundred goblins sitting at them. The vaults extended for miles under the city and were accessible through rough stone, complex and interconnected passageways by means of magic carts that were operated by goblins.

Not much can be seen except that. Damian knows this isn't as simple as it looks. There are dragons and dangerous animals in gringotts. As they moved forward McGonagall showed the letter to the goblin and then said to grangers," you can now exchange your money to galleons here. 5 pounds is one galleon ".

Grangers nodded and took out some cash. The goblin stopped the exchange after the limit is met. It's 250 pounds or 50 galleons. It seems Damian needs to buy second hand tools for this. Because even Hermione in movie only has little amount left after finishing shopping.

No wonder the weasley's struggle. It's not as simple as it looks. Damian looked at the goblins. Ugly faces, sharp nails, yellow and fang like teeth that will say I'll eat you. These goblins are really ugly and scary. And their greedy can't be hidden, no it's more like they don't even do anything to hide that greed.

Every goblin is weighing valuable stones like diamonds, rubies and others. Some are counting their galleons and looked obsessively at the pile of galleons that is in front of them. Carts are going into the passages and appearing out at the same time. A goblin turned to him and asked," what do your need little wizard?", Damian shook his head and said," nothing sir ".
