Chapter 5 - Chapter-5 Meet Kevin

I woke up with the sunlight shining into the mansion and started to speculate about Kevin's sudden visit. The first question that crossed my mind was 'why?' There was no reason for me. Maybe he was close friends with Sylas or something like that, I don't know but I will find out soon.

At noon I was practicing magic and it was lucky that I used the amount of mana output properly last time. If I had used up all my mana, I might have run out of mana and burned my life.

As I got out of the shower, I focused on my face in the mirror. Sylas had a cold charisma without being too bright. "If you only knew what I've been through because of you," I said to myself, a clumsy smile on my face that looked bad.

As the preparations for Kevin's arrival continued, I had to dress well, even if I didn't care about the formalities. The black shirt and black trousers with dark blue jewel embroidery matched Sylas' physical features.

And the expected moment came, Kevin was waiting in front of the mansion with 3 carriages and on the carriages there were black and silver swords with our family's coat of arms crossed each other, creating more disharmony than harmony. I didn't understand why they did that.

When Kevin got out of his car, he looked one or two years older than me with black hair and black eyes. With a smirk on his face, he said, "Long time no see, cousin, still got that charisma, huh?"

The sarcastic tone in his voice made me frown for a moment. 'Calm down and let's go the same way with him' with a smirk on my face "I could say the same about you Kevin"

'How does it feel to have the same thing done to you haha' I chuckled inwardly, seeing Kevin's sour expression somehow made me feel good.

After the greeting at the door was over, Kevin and I were alone in my office and I asked the first question.

"Why did you come here, did you have something to do with me?" I said in a casual tone. Kevin seemed surprised by my words and I thought 'did I do something wrong?

"You must be out of stock I brought you some new ones" his voice and eyes were glazed and he put a black box on the table.

I had no idea what he was talking about so I opened the box, inside were 20 neatly arranged black mana crystals.

The mana crystals were mostly blue, except for some divine crystals, which carried the holiness of the gods, for example the Sun Goddess, which could emit a bright yellow color. After looking at the crystals for a while, I remembered that I had seen them in the game.

When I was playing Seraphine, the saint of the sun goddess, I had seen it in Sylas' information and I didn't pay much attention to it at the time, but now I realize how wrong I was, I had skipped important parts of the game.

'Too late to regret it' I sigh as I close the box and turn my gaze back to Kevin 'what should I say at this point?

The dark mana they emitted was clearly the sign of demons, I must have taken them before since he said you're out of stock 'should I just let it go' I shook my head inwardly I didn't know what Kevin could do to me I wasn't in a position to take any risks right now.

My monologue must have lasted a long time because Kevin started talking "Is there a problem" his sudden speech startled me.

I shook my head slowly "No, is there anything else?" I didn't see any difference in his face but I was very nervous.

"We continue to poison your brother Leon with dark mana, it should take effect in a few years" Kevin said casually.

'What did you say? Poisoning who? Sylas what the hell have you been up to...' I had never heard of Sylas' brother being mentioned in the game but from the information I got when I came to this world I could tell that he was a brilliant person unlike me...

My head was full of thoughts but this was not the time "A few years... can't it be faster?" I put on Sylas' young and impetuous demeanor.

And it seems to have worked Kevin sighs "Sylas just fulfill the tasks assigned to you, you will leave your brother behind and you will be the absolute power of House Sylium" there was a certain exasperation in his voice.

Kevin took a matte black ring out of his pocket and handed it to me "And carry this with you, even though your dark mana is not visibly high, you can still be detected" his tone was serious.

I nodded and put the ring on the ring finger of my right hand. It didn't feel different at all, just a piece of jewelry worn because it looked cool.

When we finished talking, I went to the front door of the mansion to see Kevin off, which seemed like a perfunctory gesture to show that we had a good relationship.

Kevin held out his hand with a simple smile on his face "See you later, cousin, I'll stop by again."

I smiled back and shook his hand "Hope to see you again" It was a visit between two family members who got along well on the surface 'but only on the surface...'

I finally breathed a sigh of relief when I saw Kevin get into his carriage and drive away. I hurried back to the mansion, finished my dinner and retired to my room.

I examined the box of black mana crystals Kevin had given me, picked one up and tried to suck the mana out of it.

"Fuck" I coughed out blood shortly after I dropped the mana crystal back into the box. I had underestimated the amount of mana in the mana crystal none of the mana I had absorbed had been diluted and lost to nature.

"What the fuck is this nonsense" The crystals Kevin gave me were beyond the norm and the dark mana Kevin said...

I saw in a book that dark mana, a special type of mana used by demons, had been missing since ancient times.

"How did they get it?" I stared at the dark mana crystals for a few seconds. Suddenly I felt a headache coming on.

"Consume more! It's not enough, it's not enough!"

The sound was like a loudspeaker exploding in my head, I banged my head on the table and kept pressing. The sound stopped and the sharp pain continued to throb in my head for a while.

When my head started to relax I got up from the table and went to bed, all I wanted was to rest and clear my head.
