Chereads / I Cultivated As The Devil / Chapter 7 - Entrance

Chapter 7 - Entrance

After all the cultivators who passed the exam entered, Emrys couldn't help but feel nervous. But despite that, he was also amazed as he observed the inside of the institution where he now stood.

He had only heard about this school in old tales, but now that he was actually here, he couldn't believe that it was even wider and more beautiful than what he had imagined.

It had been his dream to step foot in this place, and now that he was finally here, it was impossible for him to wipe the smile off his face as he walked with the other passers.

He was the only one who was happy. The others had serious faces because they were also nervous. After all, whenever they passed by the facilities or buildings, they could always feel the sharp stares of the students already here.

Not only students, but also important people in the institution, like the high-ranking teachers, visitors of the institution like the Clan Elders, the school's heavyweight soldiers, and most of all, the proud students who had already been studying in this institution for a long time.

But the three nobles were different. Besides, they weren't the target of the scornful stares of the people here because they were respected as newcomers to the institution. These people should be the ones to distance themselves from the three princes if they didn't want to be harmed.

Desmond and Clover walked side by side, guiding these young people to the Ranking Hall.

Desmond yawned, and Clover couldn't help but notice it. "Are you alright? Maybe you should rest for a while, Master Desmond. I'm sure you're tired from testing our new students earlier." Clover said, worried.

But the man just stared back at him, "As I said earlier, I will leave these newcomers to you. But that doesn't mean I'm leaving just like that. I still have a responsibility to watch over them all."

Because of that, Clover's lips curved upwards, and he replied, "But we know that's not the only reason you're still here, right?"

Desmond let out a sigh. Using his eyes, he looked back, and his gaze landed on the back of the group, where Emrys was. "I want to know what kind of strength that boy has. I can't be wrong. I think he's stronger than one of us, Clover."

Clover chuckled softly. His face was still calm, but the laughter stopped with a sigh. "Well, your predictions have never been wrong, even before. Let's just see when we get to the Ranking Hall."

As they reached their destination, they arrived at the place where they would be given their ranks and identities as new students of the institution.

This place was just an open hall. Students could pass through or crowd it anytime they wanted.

There were guards on both sides, while in the middle of the hall was a small book stand. The book resting on it was titled 'Book of Knowledge.'

"We're here." Clover announced as everyone approached the center of the hall.

Clover snapped his fingers, and the book on the stand spontaneously floated and remained in the air, five centimeters away from its stand.

Desmond was just beside him, arms crossed, watching them. While slowly, the whole hall was becoming the center of attention.

The number of spectators increased because it seemed to be a customary tradition so that they could clearly see who were the weaklings they could make fun of and who were the strong ones they should avoid.

Emrys, at the back of the entire line of fifteen people including him, couldn't help but look around him. He also wanted to look ahead, but he wasn't tall enough, so he just gave up.

"Heh! Look at that. A runt got in."

"How did he even fool the guards here?"

"Do Master Clover and Master Desmond know about this? He's probably the weakest cultivator I've seen in my entire life. Or can we even call that a cultivator?"

"I don't know. It's pitiful if he gets bullied here."

"Hehe. I'll be the one to pity him. He should go home while he still has the chance."

The two men talking were clearly noticed and heard by Emrys. Even though they were far from him, his senses were sharper than before he used the dark cultivation stone. But he didn't pay any more attention to them. The important thing was that he was finally here.

Clover cleared his throat before continuing.
