Suddenly, Samuel stumbled, his foot was caught on a loose chunk of concrete on the step. The cement cracked beneath his weight, and he felt himself falling. Time slowed as he desperately reached out for support, his arms flailing wildly, but it was too late.
The lower stairs broke away beneath him and Samuel's body plummeted through the weakened concrete. He landed with a resounding thud on the ground below, the impact sending shockwaves through his entire body.
Samuel landed on the iron door, its metal surface scraping against his back, the sound of the impact echoed through the tunnel and the creature's roar responded to the commotion, growing louder and closer. Its heavy footsteps shook the ground, causing dust to fall from the broken ceiling.
