It's been a week since Alice died. Arthur, who was still grieving, locked himself in his room. everything tried their best to convince him that it wasn't his fault, but he kept saying, "if i hadn't left the room, she might have survived".
their efforts went waste, until one day, Felix came. "yah, richard, i'll be taking arthur with me today, and you'll not interrupt." he asked.
"Whatever you do, please do something. I can't see him like this. even though it wasn't his fault, he thinks it that way" replied Richard and showed the way to Arthur's room.
Arthur sat there in his bed, crying, while the scarlet started to drain, meaning he was consumed by guilt. His usually pale skin was even paler and his eyes looked almost dead and he was also murmuring, "I am sorry mom, I am sorry mom".
"You are going out today, Arthur," said felix. Arthur looked up, he saw up and said what it looked like alice, but it wasn't. "mom?!, is that you?" he asked. "What are you talking about, I am your uncle," Felix said.
"What do you want?" responded arthur. "I want you to get out of this guilt that you think you caused, but you have not," Felix said.
Arthur kept insisting that he didn't want to go out, but Felix didn't give up. so he lifted him and carried him to the car and started to drive to the city centre.
""just leave me uncle" he said. "Have you heard something like 'imposible'?, cus thats what i am telling you" replied felix.
seeing that "ill not give up" spirit in his uncle's eyes, he thought, "maybe for him, i should be happy for this day". even though his gloomy - ness stayed. his usual happy sprite came to him.
"You finally came back, my happy nephew," Felix commented as he entered the city centre.
Felix handed a letter to him and told him to read. the letter read,
dear arthur,
by the time you get this letter, mom would have left you. I always had this feeling that I had to pay a price for something I've done in the past. you know what, mom's always with you and you don't have to worry you know?
And, I have seen your interest in biology and helping out hurt people, so, I thought you would become a doctor and help many people and many demons, if there are any. so, I have made an admission for you to a high school in star's burg. its mom's wish to see you as a doctor....
The words were simple in the letter, yet it hindered Arthur's feelings.
"what now, are you going to cry again?" felix asked. "no, I want to, but I won't", replied Arthur with a straight face wiping away the tears.
As Arthur told Felix about the contents of the letter, Felix decided that it would be great if they went shopping for books and stationery.
Arthur said that it was a great idea, after listening to Felix's idea. They went searching for the books needed for Arthur's school in the star market, the biggest and the most famous of all markets on the wisperford archipelago.
as they searched from shop to shop, and finally found the "stardust book shop". They went in and searched for all the books needed for Arthur's grade.
They found many books, but selected the best few and were excited. Arthur was happy that he was going to school for the first time. He actually smiled for the first time since Alice's death.
Suddenly, a girl bumped into arthur. She had bubble gum pink eyes and bubblegum blue hair. "I'm extremely sorry, I didn't notice I was in a hurry," she said, then she looked up to find Felix, who was still the king at the time. "I am.. i am.. very sorry my king, i.. I didn't notice that you were here" she said.
"first of all, are you alright ?, is something that urgent? And please, call me uncle or mister, I am not that special in any way, the mayors are the current rulers. i'm just looking after things, that's all" repled felix.
"How rude of me to not introduce myself to you, I am Amber parks. and it's not that urgent, I was excited to see who adopted me." replied amber.
"what??, adopt?, did your parents leave you like this?" asked a conseared looking felix. "no, no, they didn't leave me, but they are dead. both of them were met with an accident when they were going to the hospital to give birth to a couple who didn't have a child for three years" said amber.
"I'm sorry for your loss," said Arthur in a sad tone, "you know what, I lost my mother not too long ago," he continued.
"oh!, you must be terribly sad, i am sorry for your loss too" said amber
"Kids, kids, stop with the sad talk" said Felix, "and Amber, which grade are you studying now?" he continued.
"Now, I am in fifth grade ," Amber replied. "Then you two are about the same age right?" asked felix.
"yes", both of them said, after some time of thinking. "ok, amber, your new step mom or dad would be waiting for you, you should go now" said felix and both of them waved goodbye to amber.
"She looks completely the opposite of an uncle," said arthur. "because she has bright hair, eye colour and a cheerful personality, but I look like I'm from a graveyard," he continued.
"'sigh', how many times do we have to go through this arthur, you look like your mother and she looks beautiful and you look handsome, like your father" said felix
"ok, now, we'll go now and have lunch" he continued and went to starburst cafe.
In the orphanage, Amber arrives to find a man with red eyes and black hair sitting in the waiting chairs, "you must be amber right?" he asked. shyfully, amber replied, "yes. Are you going to adopt me ,sir?"
"Of course. who wouldn't have a child like you dear, and you can call me dad" the man said.
"marcus wolven!!!" the counter lady called. "It's our call," he said. "let's go" he continued and went to the care taker's room.
"We are sad to see her leave, but it is what it is. And your name sir, it's quite interesting, is it of Roman or Latin origin, I presume?" The lady caretaker asked.
"Well, to put it simply , yes. And it's a choice of my sister for the name 'marcus'" He replied.
They talked for a few minutes and finally he signed the adoption certificates and took amber to his home...
