Amber took time to settle in Marcus's home, by the time, it was already a week before school.
Marcus reassures Amber that he'll support her education, even if she wants to study abroad. Amber thought for some time, and told him two things, one is that she wanted to study theatrics, as she was inspired by many stage plays, the other was that she wanted to become a doctor, as her parents died due to lack of doctors at the time.
Marcus acted like he was moved, but he planned a different thing, having her was a part of the plan.
afterwards, both of them went for school shopping and bought some new things that Amber was not used to like, separate stationary for herself and proper notebooks.
Amber was taken out of the school that she was going to in Brassfield and was put in the same school as arthur.
school started in a few days and arthur, dressed handsomely, went inside and sat where he was assigned, grade six. He noticed a familiar blue head, beside the middle window.
"Hey, amber!!How are you?" He asked without hesitation. "I remember you, I am sorry but I couldn't remember your name" she replied. "It's no fuss, I am Arthur," he said cheerfully. They talked for some time and the class started soon.
Thr classes went well until the break. Arthur came out of the class to get some snacks. But as he walked closer and closer, the students that are from different grades started to give comments on his pale appearance. The anxiety ran through his body, but he didn't seem to care about it.
Arthur bought a cup of soda and came out of the cafeteria. As he came out, he saw a huge boy, at least twice the size of him from a different grade.
The boy blocked him and started to speak harshly of his appearance, asking things like, "which graveyard did you come from?" And "and, did you poke your eye, why does it look so red!"
The others started to laugh, and arthur held tightly to the bag that alice gave him and started to cry. Seeing the sound of laughter, Amber and a friend of hers, came to the place and found that Arthur was bullied. She didn't think for that moment and landed a perfect punch on the bully's nose, which bled heavily. Accepting defeat, he ran away while Nicolas, the friend of amber, took care of arthur saying things that would stop him from crying.
The group of students who stood there, left in silence, while Amber, Nicolas and Arthur remained. "Why do people hate me so much? "Arthur kept saying.
The other two tried convincing that it's their fault to mess with people, and everyone is unique and has different shades for themselves.
Nicolas showed Arthur his two coloured eyes and said to him that people would bully him for that and some even called him "possessed by the devil" and he didn't care about it.
Hearing that made Arthur feel a bit fine and all three went to the cafeteria to talk as the break was to end in twenty minutes.
Ten minutes later, all three realised that they are common in many ways. Later that day, the bully and his friend came to arthur and apologised for what he had done and the friend told him about his long lost brother, who looked similar to arthur, and he thought of becoming friends as he reminded him of his brother, but that guy spoiled it.
Both arthur and amber felt sorry for him and arthur said to him that he could call him brother, if he wanted
The school ended for the day and all three friends walked home together as their homes were relatively close on the same street, on apple street.
Arthur told everything about what happend at school and how he made new friends. Richard laughed and said that he was just like him, getting new friends on the first day of school, but he also said not to cry when someone is bullying, and to give a smile to that person.
Arthur took note of it and practised his smile.
Arthur's school was surprisingly the change that Richard wanted to see, Arthur being happy, studying regularly like other kids and so on.
Sometimes, he would go to the place where he was kept alive to heal and talk about it to her. sometimes, he would notice some slight moments, but her impulses drop immediately after that minute, she goes back to her long sleep.
A few years later, Arthur was in his senior year. He was still studying great in all classes. One day, at a parent -teacher conference, he was traumatised.
That day, he saw Amber's adoptive parents for the first time. He was, Marcus, the same Marcus who tortured him and his mother for the sake of walking in the sun.
"hello dear, you are arthur right?" Marcus asked him, Amber on the other hand, remembered that she didn't even introduce him to Arthur and started to introduce him.
"how come...." Arthur stammered, "what dear, you have something to ask?" Marcus asked. At that exact moment, Amber left the place to meet a teacher about the mayor's day program.
"How come you have not died?" Arthur asked, still in shock and afraid. Sweet falling from his forehead, eyes shaking, hands trembling.
"You know for a fact that demons regenerate, no matter the amount of damage." he said with a smirk on his face implying something.
"oh, here you are. I was searching for you everywhere arthur?" Richard asked as he saw him.
"Hello sir, I am Amber's father. my name's Marcus and you are?" marcus asked. "so its you then, my son and his uncle say amber once before school and she told about adoption, she's a great friend to arthur you know" richard said with a gentle smile, but inside, he remembered about alice's words, that made him so angry that he would have killed him on the spot, but, he didn't do so.
"Come on Arthur, let's go see your teacher, I haven't got all day you know right" he said and pulled him away from him. Marcus, meanwhile, was still smirking and thinking of his plan.
That day, once more, brought Arthur to cry all night. "This is getting out of hand, I need to do something now," Richard thought, seeing his only son cry like that.
The next day, the school went normal. Everyone came to school normally, but Amber came in with bags filled with her things. "Why are you bringing your belongings to school, is it that you are moving out?" asked arthur.
"no, it's not that. When I woke up this morning, I didn't see my father around. I checked everywhere and I couldn't see him. His car was also missing and I asked the neighbours. They said that he left somewhere near the cliff in the Brassfield mountains. and I also found a letter stating something about going back to the orphanage" she said with a frown.
"Well, if you want, you can stay in my home," Arthur asked with a gentle smile.
That day, surprisingly, Scarlet came to pick up arthur. "Grandma, why are you here? I could come home on my own!!" Arthur said to her.
"I just wanted to see how my grandson is studying, that's all," she said with a smile on her face.
"And, this is Amber, the girl who you always talk about." she continued. hearing that, amber laughed and arthur stopped her from speaking more and went back home.
"Dad, I brought a friend, she needs a place to live now, can she live with us for sometime?" he asked. "no problem son, she can take your mother's room"
"ok," he said and took her to the room. "this is a huge room arthur, is there somewhere smaller?" she asked. "What, you came here as my friend and friends help friends right?" he said childishly.
amber took time to settle in the house, by the time they have finished school and were waiting for the letter of acceptance from different colleges
While Amber got one, Arthur got two. one accepted into med school and the other.........
