After verifying with witnesses, the police arrested Clara. With the situation resolved, Felix continued his journey to Aberdeen. By the time he reached the hotel, he parked the car. He was exhausted. Inside the room he had booked, he found James Lawson already waiting, reading a web novel called 'Lord of the Mysteries'.
"Finally, you're here. I've been waiting for two hours," James said.
Felix sat down on a bed, clearly worn out. "You know what, something happened to me on the way here," he began, recounting the entire incident with Clara.
Despite capturing the would-be attacker, Felix remained uneasy. Someone had taken notice of him. Feeling the need for more information, Felix called the police officer who had arrested Clara.
"Hello, this is Edevane Felix—the S.C.C. officer and M.S.C (Main.Security.Chief.) of U.K who called earlier. Do you remember me?"
"Of course. What do you need?" the officer asked.
"I need a favor. Did anyone question Clara in the confession room?" Felix inquired.
"Yes, she's given us some details," the officer replied.
"Can you share that information with me?" Felix asked.
"The officer explained, 'She told us that an unknown account sent her a video on Telegram. In it, someone pointed a gun at her mother and said she had to kill Edevene Felix."
Felix sighed and replied, "Can you ask her how she tracked my location? I suppose being the M.S.C. of the U.K. is bound to cause trouble."
'Understood, sir. I'll ensure my team handles it,' the officer assured.
'Thanks. Have a good day,' Felix said.
'You too, sir,' the officer responded.
Felix shifted his attention from his phone to James. 'How strange is it that some criminals want me dead? But what's truly horrifying is they're using ordinary people for assassination attempts.'
'It's monstrous,' James agreed. 'People are becoming more savage by the day.'
James, dressed in a black shirt and gray pants, was a man of routine. Gray was his favorite color, so his signature outfit was always a gray suit with a black shirt and gray tie. He was good-looking, with medium-sized blonde hair, and light skin with no beard or mustache.
Unmarried, James dedicated his life to his work with the S.C.C. He lived in Edinburgh with his parents, driven by his passion for law enforcement. Despite his wealth, James was a practical man—he never owned a car, always opting for simpler, more economical travel, which is the true definition of simplicity. His hobby was reading web novels. He was 28 years old and Felix was 27 years old. He was a straight forward person.
In this world, physical aging stops after people reach 90, but starting from 23, they remain forever in the body of a 23-year-old. Despite their youthful appearance and vigor, most eventually pass away due to cancer, although they are still vulnerable to other illnesses and conditions, much like in our reality.
"Do you have any plans, Felix?" James asked.
"No, I haven't thought about it," Felix replied.
Suddenly, Ember Cooper knocked and stepped into the room, spotting the two sitting on the bed.
"Hi, sorry I'm late," she said with a smile.
"It's no problem, really," Felix reassured her.
"How long have you guys been here?" Ember asked.
"Not long. Felix just got here five minutes ago, but I've been around for two hours," James explained.
Ember wore a green suit with a white shirt and black tie. A blonde with curly hair, she was 26 years old and had a passion for gardening. She'd recently married a businessman named George.
Ember glanced around the room in awe. It was much larger than she expected. Two medium-sized beds sat against one wall, while a large table with six chairs occupied the center. A spacious closet with a mirrored door stood nearby, complete with a shoe rack neatly tucked inside. The bathroom was also great.
"So, Ember, how was your trip? It must have been a long one, right?" Felix asked.
"Yeah, since I live in York, it was," Ember replied.
Hearing York mentioned Felix shared a story about an incident there, and the two discussed it in detail.
"By the way, Felix," Ember began, "I've been working with you for a year now, and I've been meaning to ask you something."
"Of course, go ahead," Felix said, encouraging her.
"Why do you always avoid making eye contact with women?" she asked.
Felix sighed. "You know, my wife passed away one year ago. After that, I made a promise to myself—I'd only make eye contact with my aunt and my daughter. It feels like a betrayal to my wife if I don't."
"Having a husband like you is lucky," James said with a smile.
"I agree, James," Ember chimed in.
"Thanks, guys," Felix replied, feeling appreciated.
An hour later, the other two arrived, looking exhausted. They took a moment to rest, chatting with the group to unwind.
Two hours passed, and Lucia broke the silence. "So, should we eat something? It's 9:30,dinnertime."
"Yeah, but where should we go?" Klein asked.
"There's a restaurant nearby called La Lavin. I've heard it's got amazing reviews," Ember suggested.
"Well, let's check it out," Lucia said eagerly.
They headed to La Lavin and ordered a variety of dishes, and from their expressions, it was clear the food was incredible. After enjoying a great meal together, they returned to the hotel, satisfied and happy.
