Chapter 59: A Dark Presence
As Kael ventured deeper into the Eastern Wastes, he began to notice strange occurrences. The wildlife seemed restless and agitated, their behavior erratic and unpredictable.
The once peaceful forests were now filled with an eerie silence, broken only by the occasional snapping of branches or the distant howl of a creature. The air was thick with tension, and a dark aura seemed to hang heavy in the atmosphere.
Kael knew that something was wrong. He could feel it in the very air he breathed. It was as if the Eastern Wastes had been corrupted, tainted by a sinister force.
As he continued his journey, Kael encountered a group of villagers fleeing from the forest. They were terrified, their faces pale with fear.
"What's happening?" Kael asked.
The villagers pointed towards the forest. "There's something evil in there," one of them said. "The creatures are acting strange. They're attacking everything in sight."
Kael knew that he had to investigate. He could not let the villagers be harmed.
With a heavy heart, Kael entered the forest. The deeper he ventured, the more disturbing the scene became. The trees were twisted and gnarled, their leaves withered and brown. The ground was littered with the bodies of dead animals.
And then he saw them. The creatures of the forest, their eyes glowing with an unnatural light. They were larger and more aggressive than before, their movements jerky and unnatural.
Kael knew that these creatures had been corrupted. They were no longer themselves.
He drew his sword, preparing for battle. He knew that he had to stop these creatures before they caused any more harm.
As he fought his way through the corrupted creatures, Kael couldn't help but feel a sense of dread. He knew that this was just the beginning. The darkness was spreading, and it was up to him to stop it.
