The young female trainer was quite assertive. She reached out and grabbed the luxury ticket from the scalper's hand right in front of Sato, staring at him with an arrogant expression.
This trainer was obviously from a prestigious background, about the same age as Sato, dressed in designer clothing, with long black hair styled in a regal manner.
Her pale complexion, delicate features, and air of elegance gave away her affluent upbringing. Yet, her demeanor was spoiled, embodying the haughty attitude of a pampered heiress. She made no effort to hide her disdain for Sato and the lowly scalper, looking down on them as though they were beneath her.
"Miss, I'm sorry, but this gentleman here was my customer first, and he's agreed to pay. By rights, this ticket belongs to him," the dark-skinned scalper replied, showing surprising professionalism.
The trainer's arrogance seemed to irk him, a man from a similarly modest background, more than any higher offer she might make.
The young woman, far weaker than the seasoned sailor, had no choice but to let go when he firmly pulled the ticket from her hand. The scalper didn't wait for Sato to pay; he handed the luxury ticket to him directly.
"Ugh, listen here! Someone like you, a plebeian, should stick to low-cost tickets. I'll give you 150,000 PokeDollars if you hand that ticket over to me," the female trainer sneered at Sato, clearly taken aback that the scalper had kept his word, but still resolute in her demands.
Ignoring her completely, Sato didn't even spare her a glance. Instead, he asked the scalper to bring out the payment machine and transferred 100,000 PokeDollars without delay.
After tucking away the luxury ticket, Sato turned and began heading toward the Pokémon Center. It was past 6:00 p.m., and he needed to start preparing food for his Pokémon.
Honestly, if it were up to him, he'd have handed over the ticket to avoid unnecessary trouble, especially since he could simply buy a standard ticket. But her hostile attitude and disrespectful words soured any such thought.
From his perspective, she had all but insulted him, so she could just fuck off.
Still, Sato wasn't about to lose his cool and start a fight. He simply chose to ignore her. Unless absolutely necessary, he wasn't interested in fighting with a girl.
"Hey! I'm talking to you, plebeian! You dare ignore me and just walk away?" the girl shouted, her face flushing with rage. "Go, Charmeleon! Teach this disrespectful peasant a lesson. Use Flamethrower—it doesn't matter if it goes too far!"
This young woman, Alice Sasaki, was part of the Sasaki clan, one of the top three noble families in Kanto. Never before had anyone dared ignore her like this before. If she'd brought her family's guards along on her little escapade, she'd have ordered them to handle Sato properly.
Unable to swallow her pride, Alice decided to take matters into her own hands. She was determined to make Sato pay for his insolence and show him how he should behave toward the upper class.
Alice pulled out a Luxury Ball, releasing a strong Charmeleon adorned with a beautiful white shell on its neck.
Following her command, the Charmeleon unleashed a scorching stream of flames directly at Sato, who would be seriously hurt if the attack landed. The onlookers gasped and scrambled out of the way, shocked by Alice's extreme response.
Now, the ticket counter area was nearly empty, with only Alice and Sato remaining.
Just as everyone expected Sato to be caught in the Charmeleon's Flamethrower, a burst of white light appeared behind him, followed by a massive white whirlwind that formed instantly.
Sato, sensing the imminent danger, quickly released Golbat, who reacted swiftly, unleashing a powerful Gust attack. In the next moment, Charmeleon's Flamethrower collided with Golbat's whirlwind, but the evolved Golbat's white whirlwind proved formidable.
The wind pulled at Charmeleon's flames, twisting them into the swirling gust and dispersing the attack.
In that instant, the white whirlwind transformed into a fiery whirlwind.
"Return it, Golbat," Sato commanded, his expression growing cold as he watched Golbat's Gust effectively deflect Charmeleon's Flamethrower.
The opponent's arrogance was bad enough, but to attack so ruthlessly from behind—if he were just an ordinary person, he'd likely be gravely injured or worse. The woman's heart was truly venomous.
Sensing Sato's anger, Golbat's eyes turned icy. Spreading its wings, now infused with intense Flying-type energy, it directed the fiery whirlwind back at Charmeleon, reversing the Flamethrower straight toward it.
"Hmm, not bad. But don't think you can beat me. Charmeleon, use Rock Slide to block their attack, then follow up with Dragon Rush and crush them!"
Though surprised by Golbat's ability to deflect Charmeleon's Flamethrower, Alice showed no panic. She immediately commanded Charmeleon to counter.
Charmeleon, well-trained and in perfect sync with Alice, plunged its claws into the ground, summoning a Rock Slide to create a stone barrier in front of it. Since Flying-type and Fire-type attacks are naturally weak against Rock, the stone wall absorbed most of the whirlwind's strength.
With the fiery vortex now weakened by the barrier, Charmeleon let out a roar and swiftly climbed the rock wall. As it scaled the barrier, a powerful Dragon-type energy enveloped it, sending waves of terrifying pressure through the area, causing nearby onlookers to shudder with fear.
With a fierce sound, Charmeleon broke through the dwindling flames of the whirlwind like a raging tyrant, locked onto Golbat in midair with a vicious glare as it charged forward with Dragon Rush.
But Golbat was far from the timid, small Zubat he once was. He had grown resilient through countless battles, his mental fortitude stronger than ever. Charmeleon's murderous aura barely phased him, especially with Golbat's Inner Focus ability.
"Dragon Rush is powerful indeed, but it's useless if it can't hit. Dodge it, then use Supersonic," Sato calmly ordered, unfazed.
Having faced worse scenarios, he remained calm and resolute, unmoved by the pressure of Charmeleon's Dragon Rush.
Sato's eyes glinted faintly blue as he activated his system's scanning ability, assessing Alice's Charmeleon in a moment. Charmeleon's details quickly appeared before him:
