Chapter 2 - Chapter 1

He woke up to find himself five minutes late, but it's Friday so he couldn't care less. By the time he arrived, he took a detour and climbed the gate to the field, avoiding the guard even if it meant having to track through the forest. Scanning the area, he made sure the coast was clear before sprinting across, climbing into an open window that led into an empty stall in the boy's bathroom. Wasting no time, he closed the door and sat down, wheezing for air.

He opened his phone to check the time and noticed a few notifications, mostly from a friend. Ten minutes until homeroom ends and English would be next, so he decided to skip the class. He always find the subject boring, at the kindest word he can find, and never minded on skipping it. Checking the notification, he noticed that his friend, Pete, had notified him saying to not at least miss Additional Mathematics so he could copy the answers to the last question. He simple left the message on read and closed his phone, deciding for an extra hour of nap in the stall.

The first period for her was excruciating, because it was history. Who the hell likes history? Maybe some others, but definitely not her. She fought hard to stay awake, because class had just started and she's really not interested in hearing about whatever their current chapter was.

She took some quick notes occasionally but would often space out, her hand going into autopilot to doodle anything on an empty space. She didn't even realise the teacher was calling for her until her seat mate nudged her hard.

"Sasha Dawn Campbell. Are you listening? I said read the second paragraph, aloud," the teacher crossed his arms in a disapproving way as he stared daggers at her. She sighed and stood up, obliging. Luckily she was able to pick up where they were without a problem and finished reading quickly.

When the bell rang, she squeezed herself through the crowded doorway and hall, managing to avoid others as she walked to her locker. Though little did she know, the pace was too hurried that she inevitably bumped into someone coming out of the boy's bathroom, her face landing on his chest, and felt his sturdy hands catching her shoulders to prevent the fall.

"I'm sorry. I didn't see where I was..." She trailed off as she realised who she bumped into and who had caught her. Adam Fox Levine, well colour her surprise, her day just improved significantly. The concern in his natural saddened eyes were so captivating, she almost missed his words.

"You okay? Pretty crowded out here so I missed you," his voice, as monotonous as ever, was gentle. Her heart almost skipped a beat as she kept staring at he way his hazel eyes softened with concern, she only ever gasped inaudibly in response. Though she immediately snapped out of it when his hair, that's always a mess but it had its charms, fell onto his face.

"Yeah I'm... I'm fine. Thanks. Also..." She gestured to his hair and he immediately let her go to fix it, almost flustered. She could still feel the lingering warmth and imprint that his hold had left on her sleeves. Desires screamed in her head to help fix his hair, but she held firm to her logical side and only watched him do so.

After feeling like he was fine, he turned to her and cleared his throat to hide his embarrassment. "Uhm... I'm... You can call me Foxer," he introduced himself, as if she hadn't known that already.

"Sasha. Just a year below you. I have English after this so gotta go. Nice seeing you," she hastily said before rushing off, not without flashing him a brief smile. If she lingered any longer, she would've made a fool of herself in front of someone she's pined for since the start.

He turned to watch her make a run for it and sighed, shaking his head like an exasperated yet fond parent. He had Science after this but the teacher wasn't in today, as he'd been informed by his project partner. Good, because they hadn't finish their assignment yet.

Continuing on, he walked to his next class either way, his train of thoughts mostly preoccupied by the girl, or Sasha as her name was. Their brief interaction wasn't all that special, but it almost felt like the highlight of his day.

"Dude are you sick? Your face is red," his project partner commented, breaking him out of his trance.

He immediately shook his head and faked a cough, earning an understanding nod. One thing for having asthma, he thought, silently thanking his disability even if it was a pain most of the time. Though, was he really blushing just by thinking of a junior? Especially one that confessed yesterday of all people, after he sworn to her that he'd never date younger girls? Whatever it is, he was sure it's nothing. Besides, he had already made his choice; he'd simply wait in silence. She never said the answer has to be given.
